"NO ONE TAKES RESPONSIBILITY!" Sean Dyche INSISTS Man Utd players should be playing for THEMSELVES!
Sean Dyche on Man United and Carrick: players must take responsibility for themselves and the club
The show discusses Michael Carrick's pressure at Manchester United and their away game at Atletico Madrid. Sean Dyche argues that players should play for the club, the fans and their own pride rather than just the manager, and calls the “lost the dressing room” line a cop-out; the host says United's current position is not surprising given the quality of the rest of the league.
- Players should not play only for the manager; they should play for the club and the badge and look at themselves first — When you sign for a club there is a bigger picture, and responsibility should not be shifted entirely onto the manager
- Players now let the noise swirl around them and no one takes responsibility; they need to take pride in their own performance first — Players have more facts and stats than ever to judge themselves; running around without organization will get you in trouble unless you are a team of geniuses
- The idea that a manager has “lost the players” is a cop-out from the players; players play for themselves, their family, the fans, the club and personal pride, not just the manager — He never played specifically for a manager in his own career; personal pride should come first
- I am not surprised by United's current position — The quality of the rest of the league is high, and looking at that quality explains where United are
- It is strange to demand that a manager bond with his players; players should give their manager 100% respect — He contrasts it with the Brian Clough era and says modern football changes, but that does not make team-bonding exercises a requirement for respecting the manager

What have you got for this law? Well, Michael Carrick is across the back pages under pressure. That's of course as well. Atletico Madrid against Man United tonight. You can listen to that on talk sport. Of course he's issued a bit of a rallying cry. So in the sun, he says, who's with me? Carrick demands fight from the stars. In the daily sport, he's flying without winds. But Michael Carrick has insisted he is loving the pressure at Manchester United. He's aiming to end their winless run tonight at the Metropolitano Stadium. Sean, do you get the impression that the players are fully behind Michael Carrick? They were pretty wretched in that first half against Spurs at the weekend are the players playing for the manager i don't see why they're not in in the obvious sense because for one it's not just the managers the badge they should be playing for the club as well you know not just the manager you know i think when you sign for any club you should think hang on there's a bigger picture not just the manager but the thing my gripe would be look at yourself first you know i mean maybe football's changing players are looking for everyone else and you're going to look at yourself first you must players that players have never had more facts and stats right so if i'm looking at my performance and i'm looking at my stats especially there's a big thing about the physical spot the stats because i was saying super early before we come on here if you're going to run around you're gonna be in trouble unless Unless you're a team of geniuses, you're going to be in trouble. So, you know, take a bit of pride in yourself first. Then, of course, look around you and go, right, okay, but are we ready? Are we organised? Are we fit strong and organised, I always say. But I just feel sometimes now, it's a bit, players, it's almost like let the noise go on around you and no one takes responsibility. So I think in my view, the first person I would look at, and I wasn't a brilliant player, but I'd look at if I'm doing the hard yard. Of course she You know what I mean? Yeah, but doing the hard yards. Do you know the statement? Lord, a statement, and I've said on a show on numerous occasions, oh, he's lost to players. You know, the players aren't playing for him. She'll have the greatest to suspect as a player I never once of course I go on well with managers but I never specifically went out and said oh I'm going to play for the manager no you play for yourself you play for the family you play for the fans you play for the club yeah your own pride personal pride I hate that statement he's lost to players it's a big cop out from a group of players I think so I'm not keen on that it's funny when they lost But looking at United, I don't know whether Sean agrees. I'm not really overly surprised at where United are because I look at the quality of the rest of the league. Do you know the other thing? You know a little insight for you. Now I'm going to cry this in and the Forest fans always give a stick for this but there's a lot of reports saying the manager has it with me, the manager haven't bonded with the players. I'm like since when was that a thing? Do you imagine Brian Clough? Imagine me as a kid going, boss you haven't bonded with I'm not saying look the world has to change, it does change but come I'm like, what do you want me to bend? You're not doing team building exercises. You're not going somewhere and bonding with each other. I just think that was a weird thing. I'm not griping about, well, I suppose I am, but it's just like, well, hang on. The respect should be 100 % given to your manager 100 % but the one thing that game tonight Laura we were speaking about it awesome I don't mind you know this talk when managers say I want the pressure I love the pressure because you've got to side up what are you going to say but trust me it's not so nice and they're away they're away tonight and then they go to Leeds at the weekend two very difficult fixtures by the way they played well for an hour I was there on Saturday Leeds they were brilliant against they should have scored they were very good and the players have done a good speaking of players who are taking responsibility the Manchester has done a great job there but it's almost like the players have gone right we've got the right going you know last season they're new to the problem they were like right we gotta have a right go yeah and they did and it paid them paid them back you know what i mean yeah uh very quickly quick plug for the times they've got two exclusives today the first one uh around uh cycling so matt richardson has investigated who's been investigated rather by bridge cycling he's been sent home over discriminatory posts and behavior so not a good look for uh bridge cycling there they're just ahead of the world track championships in shanghai but the big scoop from martin ziegler again who has been on jenny infantino all summer he's all over it he is trying to bring this man down um but it's been revealed uh that infantino has been taking a secret salary from fifa off the books on top of his salary that is rumored to be funding a very nice use of a 20 million pound mansion in miami so gianny infantino again under the cosh good work if you can get it yeah where would you like to be paid where would you go if talk sport paid you a little something off the books monaco i'm not mentioning a book monaco monaco little boat trip down central park just on that chicane would they come in Laura brilliant thank you very much that was a big thanks to our friends at Costa Express now coming up we're going to get Sean's reaction to the game between City and Liverpool thoroughly enjoyed it of quality a goal was ridiculous I I mean there's plenty going on at the weekend obviously but the quality of finishing was remarkable and we're going to find out how he'd be feeling if he was managing against this City team during this period that's coming up next the Costa coffee break
