Coventry made it backto-back wins as they to Newcastle 4-1 last night. So, who on earth is going down this season? >> But here's the boon moving up to the edge of the air and left for his strike. Oh, what a goal in OFF THE INSIDE OF THE POST. It's four. >> Well, that is embarrassing for Newcastle United. Everyone else in the Premier League should be looking over their shoulder going, "Wow, we're in danger of getting relegated. Big, big clubs." because the promoted sides really look like they can cope. >> Commentary start to the season looks a little bit better now. Commentary 4, Newcastle 1. >> Of course, Super Frank comry up to 14. That's how tight it is down there in the Premier League after a 4-1 win at home to Newcastle last night. It's a second win on the bounce. It moves them level on points with the mighty Manchester United. Their boss Frank Lampard spoke to talkport after the game. He said he was delighted with the result after a difficult start to the season. I think we've had to live those games. Um, and to give out to give us some credit, and I'm normally very self-critical, we have played those strong teams. We have had players that are coming late in the window. We've had a few little niggles, Rudy and Efron, that big players for us in in preseason. I know everyone has these issues, but I have to sometimes temper my kind of, you wanting to win and get there straight away. So, I think we've lived those moments and you worry about confidence and the lads have worked hard to dig out two results and to have a feeling like they had tonight. So, um, yeah, I think you're right that the perspective, we've had a difficult start on paper, now we've got some points on the board. >> I think obviously first things first, the win for commentary is huge. But just the style in which they did it. If they sort of nicked the one- nil win at home to Newcastle, great result, three points, right? Does exactly the same, >> but just the confidence a result and a performance and the amount of goals that they've scored like that will give them going into their next game. >> You know, not only that as well, obviously they they went two up and they're cruising. I mean, Rodonia, we I've spoke about him for years, how good he is. Um, and then it was the adversity where Botman scores an unbelievable smash and I'm going and then it wobbled for about 5 minutes and then you think, okay, there we go. But then to go on again and get the third and then the fourth, >> the third and the fourth came very close. >> Yeah. I mean, and fair play, but what a result. And again, you look at the Premier League table and it's it's it's impossible for me to say who's going to go down because >> you you've got a little bit early there cuz that's one of the questions we're going to ask. Yeah, but I'm I'm going to go we'll get back to that. I'm just saying you're looking at it now and that performance there from commentary. >> You're looking at it again going well this season might be the hardest to to say not hardest to say up >> like how do I phrase it? This season might be >> the most difficult to predict. >> Most predict difficult to predict, right? >> What happened there? >> I got stuck on my throat. Difficult >> words was it? >> Every single team. Tottenham rock bottom. They played really well against you a lot. Commentary they were in the bottom three played really well. Fulham have had their moments. Bournemouth Sunderland who I think have got a really good side 17th. It's going to be hard but for commentary in Frank fantastic backto-back wins. I'm sure he would have liked the clean sheet back to back clean. >> I don't think it matters. Do you? >> No. I think managers always look at little fine detail and but the thing is though he might look at that and go you know what it's a it's a wonder strike just that Newcastle center half has hit one from 25 yards on the angle. I can live with that. >> Yeah. >> I mean if it's like a set play you might go >> nothing you could do with it's unbelievable strike but no fair play to Frank. Fantastic work and yeah, onwards and upwards. >> So, we were talking about on yesterday's show about how worried the rest of the league should be. We did this, I think, from 6:00. Have you seen enough from commentary to know that that they can compete now with everyone else in that league? >> Yeah, hard work. They're hardworking. Got some really good players in their team. They look like to me commentary a team that's got Premier League players that were almost chomping at the bit to play. So, like Rodoni who we spoke about, he's chomping at the bit. >> Had you write something fit, >> he for me is their best in terms of attacking wise. Had you Mason Clark, I like him. Thomas Asanti that they they've got players in their team and then you they've sprinkled a little bit of like Ethan Pinnock who I really like center Brenford good player I I think for for commentary now this result at home and that one going away from them beating not forest will give them massive confidence because they're always going to be hard to play against they play Brighton at the wrong they played Arsenal at the wrong time first game of the season the champions they played Brighton at the wrong time who were absolutely flying at the minute give them five Brighton could do that to Arsenal should have been beat five by Brighton so then I think Frank would probably look at that result against Brighton and go on paper it looks bad. What was it? What was it? Five 5-1 was it 5-0il? 5-0 right? You go it's a bad but then when you look at Brighton beating the champions 3-0 and that could have been five. You almost go you look back and go do you know what >> weren't that bad that actually >> they just had the tough games at the wrong time. >> Yes, exactly. But now what he's done there building that momentum, building them foundations. >> Do you think Spurs fans would be worried about what they would have seen last night? That's their next game next Monday night >> potentially. But then all Spurs could think all Spurs got to think about as well. They were really good against you. But they didn't win. You know what I mean? They didn't win, but they were really really good against you. So >> yeah, >> that's why I I have no idea it's going to go down. I listen, I know we already talked about a handful of results. Six games played and for all we know might struggle, you know, in commentary. The teams might struggle. >> Switch. >> Who? >> I think you could put I switch into >> No, probably not. They're flying 10th. Top half of the table. >> So where where hull? >> Yeah, the eighth. >> And you put Hull in the list. >> I was getting to switch. He jumped in. >> Oh, go on. You can say it now. >> You said it already. >> You said it now. >> You said it, sir. I switch. is but um no buyers for Frank and commentary fantastic result really really >> I think everyone listening and would have seen that result apart from Newcastle fans want Lampard to do well because he's an English manager cuz you got Gary O'Neal in in the Prem Michael Carrick and you got Frank Lampard as well start bench sell >> well as players >> no no obviously not as players managers would kill managers now >> no there's no point >> now I want to hear I want to hear that start we'll go back to your >> no no but no go back forward start bench cell carry Eric O'Neal Frank. No. >> Oh, you are. I thought you're supposed to drive the ship. >> I am. >> Well, you're not cuz I've asked you a question. >> Yeah, I know. But I can just see a massive iceberg in front. I don't want to smash you. No, I do that. It's another show and I don't want to steal Joe Sun. He works hard enough as it is. >> But do you do you think that football fans care whether or not an Englishman's doing well? You don't. >> No. I I think we'd all like an English man to be in charge. I mean, me personally, I couldn't care less >> about national team. You talking about >> I'm talking about the the national the nationality of the manager >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For the national side. >> Yeah. So like if someone says to me you got a choice between >> No disrespect anyhow. >> Yeah. >> Or Pep. I'm glad Pep. >> Yeah. Me too. >> Regardless if he's English or not. >> You want to go credential? >> Of course. >> Yeah. I agree with you. Okay. Well, I'm going to I'm going to ask you lot out there to answer a question I'm going to ask Darren now. >> Yeah. We'll start bed. >> No. Who's going down? >> No idea. >> Well, they can't find currently as you sit right now. Fulham. Although I like a lot of their young pieces I've spoke about already. They're having a tough time. Bournemouth, I'm really concerned about them. Spurs at the minute, but I thought they were great against you. Sunderlands, I think, are going to be fine. And the Villa 16th. >> They're different. You got to name three. People are going to phone up with three. So, what's your three? >> I haven't got three yet. I've got two. >> So, what's your two? >> Bournemouth and Fulham. >> Okay. >> What's your three? >> What? Show me league table. Bournemouth and Fulham. You are right. Bournemouth, Fulham. >> And And by the way, I think either either one of them two, Bournemouth and Fulham can get themselves out. It won't be Villa. >> Nope. >> Forest I'm not too sure about, you know. >> No, not with Glasna. Are you crazy? They should have beaten Palace at the weekend. >> I don't know. Ask me this question in in two weeks when Spurs have played commentary and then is it are you or Chelsea? >> Chelsea. >> Chelsea. Ask me that eight games gone. If Spurs are in the bottom three after eight, then I' I'd say maybe them as well. >> Man, but the way No, don't let me say it. But the way Spurs played against >> Tom made a good point. You could be pound for pound the worst team in the league. >> We're not pound for pound. We are. >> Okay. Yeah, >> you could be the most annoying pundit. Right, who goes down? Brian is a commentary fan. Maybe he's got the answer. I'm guessing it's not commentary. All right, Bri. >> Afternoon, lads. Um, I appreciate your kind words about Com City and Frank Lampard. >> No problem. No problem. We call it >> a win last night. >> Go. Did you go? >> Yeah. Yeah. And I and I was just going to say um it was a great win, but I got a strange feeling some of them might be in trouble because obviously they normally home form is normally quite good. >> I just thought with the European football as well, it might be a bit too much for them and they normally start quite well. >> No, that's that's a great shout, Brian. I was chatting to Andy about the break. I just wonder about the European aspect and >> last season was bizarre because they didn't lose a home game for the first half of the season, then they couldn't win a home game for the second half and then it was like their away form flip. They're winning games away from home. >> Give me your three, Brian, that are going down. Tottenham, Sunderland and Palace. >> Do you honestly think Tottenham? >> Well, the way I look at it, obviously they've got players next week in the form we're in. I know they played well against United, but if they get rid of the Zerby, it's all these players that he's bought in. So, it's going to be they're going to have to sign some players in January. So, if they if they haven't got many points by the time they get to January, they're going to be in big trouble. And then if they do end up bringing new manu in, he's going to want his own players as well. So, I can see him. >> Why do you think Derby is going to be sacked? >> I know he's got a big contract, but I just think they can't carry on like this. He's spending all that money in the summer. How can he carry on? I'm not saying I want to manage to be s, but how can he carry on with his form? >> You know what? I I think you're the form, but what I saw, what I've seen from Spurs, they started off well against Villa, the way they played against United, if they could just transform that period when they play. >> Was it they were good or we were terrible? >> No, they were very I mean they completely pressed you. They outplayed you. They created chances. >> Yeah, >> but we were terrible. Other other teams like >> if they if they putting that shift against commentary, I'd agree with you. I just think we're so off it at the moment. >> No, but the way they were looking around the the one touch passing was beautiful. That's >> Yeah, a lot has been made of the the lack of movement Man United players have got, as in we cover like 5k less than other teams playing against us. >> You, you know, I think that's incredibly important as to maybe one of the major reasons why a team like Spurs >> is. But that still doesn't stop them passing the ball like they did. I mean, they literally were carving you open. You're not going after it. >> Well, you were, but you just Your problem is you don't press as a unit. You press an individual. So, like you'll get a player like Kun will go and press on his own just so the crowd go look, he's trying. >> I know. You can't do that. >> No, you need to go as a team. >> Yeah. Uh Dave's an Ipsswitch town fan. Hi, Dave. >> Hi, Andy. Hi, Benty. >> Isn't it weird out of all the calls and I switch fans next? Isn't that strange? >> It is funny that, isn't it? I mean, what I must say is Benty and producer Joe are flying the blue flag very high because Andy, you're biased. >> Joy, no. Do you know what? I'm sick and tired of this. >> I got the put him back up now. Sorry, Dave. >> Sorry, Dave. My hand, Dave. My hand. Sorry, Dave. >> No, my hand. Sorry, Dave. >> No, I was saying Andy, your bias again. >> Oh, he's gone again. Fader, >> Joe, if you don't stop doing that, Dave. >> Sorry, Dave. >> Dave, I apologize, Andy Coulson. This is what I'm dealing with every day, >> Dave. Sorry, you're just complimenting the show. My mistake. Go on, Dave. >> Yeah. No, first time caller. Do appreciate you putting me on. Yeah, I think that I think this will be a pretty landmark year for the league as you've mentioned a few times, but I think you'll see Fulham go down. They look they look destined unless they do something serious with our beloa and then totally overhaul it. And I think Bournemouth are banging trouble just because of that picture congestion about all that's coming up and the other one simply has to be Manchester City. I know you mentioned on yesterday's show that you know the league can't do without them. I think that's mental like they've got to go down. There's a huge moment that we are in right now and morally anything other than that club being relegated and demoted is is going to be absolutely awful outcome for football in general. >> Do you not I mean we're slightly moving on here but do you not think the Premier League is stronger with Man City in it? >> I I don't want a club I I think I think you speak for most football fans saying that all of their success is built upon total corruption. So, you know, yes, give them the opportunity to reset. I think a a hefty deduction this time round and then they probably will come back up next season, but there has to be a significant penalty that gets them out of the division for a period of time. Do >> you know what it is, Dave? Right. I get what you I get what Dave's saying about the club and fair enough. That's that's his opinion. I understand that. But it' be more the shame losing that shy. It's the players. I'm thinking the Premier >> If they get a 50 point deduct >> and they're still here, that's fine. >> I don't think the players will stay. >> They're in the Premier League next season, they'll stay. >> I don't think they will, mate. >> They will. >> What's the For what? to win the league. >> Well, if you're 50 points behind, you're not going to you're not going to win that, right? The only chance you got is at silverware like FA Cup or League Cup. >> There you go. >> You ain't going to win the Champions League cuz you're not in it. >> No, >> I don't think they stay. >> No, I think they would. >> Well, you think Harland's going to play non-European football for five years. The best five years for one year and then go. >> Why? Why would he stay for one? >> Win two cups. >> What? You think he's going to stay for the League Cup? >> That's what they won twice last, didn't they? >> No, I don't think he We could win twice last. >> No, but he won the FA Cup and the League, didn't they? >> I don't I don't think >> So, you think they can't all up and go? I think if you've got if they've got a deduction over like a period of 5 years which will stop them playing Champions League football and winning the Prem I think the big ones will go >> but there's nowhere on the planet Man City is selling every single one of their sides some are going to have to stay >> not everyone but I think >> gradually they're full okay yeah fair enough maybe >> come to Arsenal I'll take him >> yeah yeah cool yeah you can have his
