let's bring in our two guys at Anfield for Talk Sport yesterday coming to you live from the Matterface basement if you aren't watching us on smart TV don't already because they're definitely not time to start because it's our chief footballer who's going this morning alex crook and chief football commentator sam matterface in their pajamas guys this is unhealthy on a monday morning how are you both well we're tired but apart from that we're very good thank you gentlemen how are you look like lorenardi well i didn't i didn't have us in my bingo card this morning you two anyway what about the game yesterday I mean the game itself Andy was there guys I've watched it thoroughly enjoyed it up until the sending off it kind of spoiled the game for me a little bit then i saw three absolutely wonderful goals what was your guys what did you take on it lads well i thought that the introduction of jeremy doku changed the nature of the game i thought liverpool were okay up until they got to the edge of the penalty area but couldn't seem to find the final ball or a finish whereas city seemed to bide their time but as soon as doku came onto the pitch i mean they turned into a completely different team obviously the sending off has a major major effect but i thought doku was the major influence in the game yeah i think you just saw the difference in in in City's squad compared to Liverpool's, obviously despite the fact Liverpool have spent an awful lot of money that there's still holes in the players that Andoni Iriola has at his disposal. I thought Gakpo and Isak were huge losses to boss lie as well but I'm not sure it would have been three nil but for the sending off and I agree with Andoni Uriola I called it in real time that that first yellow card for me has never been a booking and I thought the second one was harsh as well we live in a world of soft daft yellow cards nowadays boys don't we we do there at we see them every week in every game um start the second half crookie they uh liverpool put their foot to the floor going towards the cop and had a few chances and they sort of got a little bit of a head of steam up if they could have maybe nicked something in that moment who knows yeah the big one was was the lewis kumas chance wasn't it one-on-one with the goalkeeper he struck it well but he has struck it ultimately straight at donnarumma and i thought I thought they struggled without that focal point in attack. Obviously, Eketike has been missing since the start of the season, which is a real blow. I think you still need more from their £200m-plus men. Barker have faded in and out of the Again, Florian Verts is a pretty footballer, but for me still lacks a bit of substance when it comes to big games in the Premier League. We were having this discussion last night, boys. A lot of people were turning around yesterday and saying, yeah, but they haven't got this player. They haven't got that player, liverpool but they have spent the best part of a billion pound over the last few years in terms of acquiring a really decent squad that was probably the plan but it isn't a really decent squad is it it's not one with real depth and that's a problem you know you lose one or two players from the front line and all of a sudden it does look really thin there's no alternate left back there's no alternate right back you mean jeremy fringpong who they bought in to play that role ended up starting on the bench yesterday so for all the complaints they They didn't have his act, they didn't have Subosly. And they're genuine complaints because lose players of those qualities, they're really going to affect the team. The fact is, is that the players that they've brought in, they still don't 100 % trust. What did you think of the atmosphere prior to enduring the game boys it was brilliant but toxic at the beginning wasn't it yeah but it sort of went a bit flat sort of midway through the first half but uh you can't beat a bit of scouse humor no there was there were some brilliant banners and t-shirts particularly the the oasis uh theme ones there was a t-shirt on sale outside the stadium what's the story tainted glory um yeah it was a real cauldron that the city players came out to but i've got to say what about the bananas you like the bananas the banana the bananas were a bit of a throwback as well and then especially seeing this city have got a habit of inflating things very good you've been waiting to get that one in there uh but i thought what they did well city in the first half was was just take the sting out of it was quite subdued going into half time it ramped up a bit again actually after that first booking for gravenberg and liverpool had that flurry of chances but by the end there weren't actually that many liverpool fans left to boot he's decent elliot anderson samany cool dear well you talk about 160 million pounds for him and you look at the money that liverpool spent over 100 million pound the players that they have done and he looks like a bargain he's absolutely superb he he gets around the pitch brilliantly he's got great engine he plays every single game and he plays 90 minutes in most of them he was brilliant for england actually on international duty i thought um and again yesterday sets the tempo keeps things moving eats up attacks when they're going against him and then he sets them on the front foot he's got a brilliant touch as well hasn't he i mean he's a he's a he's a proper footballer he's an all-round midfield player thought he was outstanding cookie does notice the one thing i would throw away a line before we move on to manchester 80 cookie i said you don't have to do that i'm coming mate i'm coming i said to andy i don't think i've watched a game with three better goals in the one game i thought the level of finishing from city was absolutely outstanding but we're moving to united crookie i mean i had it on i didn't watch the whole game i watched the highlights but boy the united look poor particularly first half mate yeah i was driving back from from villa park and listened to the first half and the radio it sounded like an absolute horror show as far as united are concerned got a bit better in the second particularly when michael carrick made the changes i thought belieber was a real positive to take away from the game and actually joshua's irksy who i've been a bit kritikov did well when he came on but when you take the lead it was a really well crafted and well taken goal the opponents who don't score a lot of goals anyway go down to 10 men you've got to see that game out and i said on our all-access podcast that's available this morning the problem with this united team is there's no accountability there's there's no desperation to keep the ball out the back of the net there's just sort of an acceptance they're going to drop points late in matches you look at a goal they can see it i mean let's andro martinez what you're doing there just just defend the cross i mean honestly that was that was just such bad play from him but again the ball ends up in the back of the net maybe lamont's could have done better although i would argue he was expecting he has defended a deal with the danger. Oh, he's got to deal with better crookie money. The centre-back's got to deal with that. But they just shrug their shoulders. They go back to the halfway line and there's two more points dropped. And you look at that game, you'll get Everton away when they conceded later on, not beating ten-man Manchester City. It's fine margins and I feel for Michael Carrick because they could be a lot higher up the table but too many of his big players just keep making individual errors that are costing him points and ultimately if it doesn't change probably going to cost him his job the good news is uh ali and andy is that he said about three weeks ago maybe four weeks ago i'm not getting angry about it anymore it's not going to affect me anymore i'm wasting too much emotion on this team tune into the premier league all access podcast this morning you might see that he's wrote back i gotta say i woke up sunday morning and i had a row with a friend of mine he said what's up with you i said i'm still fuming with a sandro martinez listen boys final question who's on the toast run i was always him yeah he's already brought me coffee in bed this morning lovely stuff i have to i've ironed his t-shirt as well great to see you boys i didn't have my bingo card seen the two pajamas but well done lads thanks for joining us that's coming that is commitment isn't it and when you look at letty now tuesday night man united atletty in madrid then leeds away you saw leeds and you said oh well they did it i thought leeds were terrific como away and and then bournemouth home chelsea away Tough October for the United You can't believe it Sam and Crookie there Coming up we'll bring you more on yesterday And get your thoughts on how you're feeling about the Premier League After City's win some great goals 0-3-7-1-7-2-2-3-3-4 That is their number to call to have your
