My name is Harry Doran. Well, it is uh a very very strange period in the Premier League season and I think you know every fan is feeling a bit bizarre with everything that's happening at Manchester City. Their first game back since the 114 charges were found guilty. Um, listen, it's unprecedented times at the moment, but still, Manchester City are playing football matches and we need to dissect everything that's going on on the pitch and off the pitch because that's the beauty of it. Listen, City came out 3-0 winners away at Anfield yesterday. Joining me to look back on all of the action is Jamie from the COP 4 and Will from the 1894 collection. Will massive, massive three points for Manchester City. I mean, um, the second half, Liverpool down to 10 men. Um, the players seemed so unfazed by what was happening off the pitch. It was it was a really weird experience being a football fan and watching that to be fair. >> Yeah, I'm I'm not surprised in the slightest. Like, we saw it when the Charges first dropped in the, you know, 2022 23 season. If anything, it it spurred us on more. you know, we went on to win the treble that season, so obviously it didn't affect us then. Um, and if I was going to, you know, during the international break, if I was going to predict how this was going to affect the team, I said it was is only going to be a positive effect. It's going to spur us on to be even better. So, I'm not surprised at all. >> James, um, you know, start of the second half before Graham Burch got sent off, um, Don Ruma made a tremendous couple of saves to keep Liverpool out. It really felt as if, and it doesn't take a genius to work it out, that as soon as Grain B picked up his second yellow card that the entire Liverpool spine just got ripped out from their back. >> Yeah, more or less. Like it was a difficult game to manage going in regardless. And I think Liverpool did pretty well for first 60 65 minutes. And then obviously when you go down to 10 man against Man City, Douku like he would come on and I think every time he comes on or plays against Liverpool it's a 10 or 11 out of 10 performance. He's unbelievable against us and yeah it was just once Grahammer went off. I thought he was the best player on the pitch >> he was >> up until they send it off and yeah once he goes off then there's obviously going to be very difficult to go back. Were you a bit frustrated, James, staying with you, that, you know, it felt like the whole footballing world was probably supporting Liverpool yesterday and um it had to play out the way that it did. It's just, you know, football is so unpredictable sometimes, but Manchester City are the villains at the moment and you had the real capabilities of being the heroes, but you know, it's like that weird sort of end to a film where the villain actually wins and you just go, why am I not surprised? Yeah, I think obviously going into there was a lot of talk about how City had to be punished for obviously what they did and there was kind of two sides to the football. It was talking about what was happening off the pitch and what was going to happen on it and I think the way Liverpool have been playing this year we haven't been amazing like we drew against Fulham drew against Forest Man City are have won seven out of seven leading up to the game. You know what I mean? and it was always going to be a difficult task, but I think going into the game there probably was a little bit of expectation that we were going to be able to do something. It just didn't materialize in the way they obviously wanted and I think that's the most disappointing point of it all. But up until the 65th minute, I think we definitely had the game there for the taking and then the sending off just changed it and I do think we have to talk about that sending off more landing else because it did change the course of the game and I think 3-0 flattered City in the end because I don't think it would have went that way had it been off. Well, do you agree with that? It probably wouldn't have gone that way. Obviously, we don't know because we don't have a time machine and we can't tell Ryan Gravenber to not make the uh the soft foul because it was, but do you think it would have been a hell of a lot more close and we wouldn't have seen a 3-0 if Ryan Gravenber stayed on the pitch? >> Yeah, definitely. I I still think we would have won, but it definitely wouldn't have been a 3-0. I do I do agree 3-0 was flattering. Um but I do think as well like you mentioned the red card obviously you know it's it's a big moment but Dou did come on just before and that is such a boost for City cuz he is we've seen it multiple times over the past few seasons. He's put that team on his back. He's single-handedly won us games. So I think that that is a big point. So I do think we still would have won but I do agree 3-0 is flattering. I mean really unprecedented times for Manchester City as we already know since the uh the uh the charges and Manchester City were found guilty. Um it's it's a weird one because you know the camera pans to the end and obviously you've got the the bananas which is obviously paying homage to the 1980s when you went down to League 2. from what I saw of Manchester City fans in a way and yes you're seeing Nol Gallagher um everyone seems just just to be having a good time and it's you you if you don't laugh you'll cry um is that the general consensus around you know Manchester City fans at the moment where you don't really know what's going to happen in the future but you're picking up these wins they might not actually mean anything in the future but you've just got to enjoy it whatever the outcome may be. Yeah, exactly. You know, and you know, like my parents, you know, they've lived through that time where we were, you know, down in the gut or whatever. And I think I think actually a lot of City fans my age almost wish they got to experience that and go through that. Um, so, you know, the idea that we could get relegated, whatever, is it's it's quite exciting. So, we we really aren't bothered. Um, bring it on. Whatever happens happens. We've seen us win everything. If we end up being sent down, sure, why not? We're going to enjoy it. We're going to have a good time. And just look at that away and like you can tell the City fans, they don't care. They're just there to have a good time. >> Well, that's going to bring me on to a question I had for you later on in the show, but now you said it, I've got to follow up with that. And Jane, I'll get to you in just a second. Um, I was having this little thought the other day, and you know, I don't support a big 16. I'm a Fulham supporter, so I don't know the experience of winning the Premier League and I probably never will. But you've won everything that you can win possibly in in club football. You've won the Club World Cup. You've won multiple Premier Leagues, Champions League, FA Cups. You've won the lot with And Will, how old are you, by the way? Sorry. >> Uh 22. >> You're 22. And I mean, the trajectory of Manchester City over the sort of like the last 15 years going on 20 years there. Well, being going down to League 2 was never ever ever going to be possible in a Manchester City fans career, especially of your age as well. With you being so young, would you happily take not like happily, but would you actually like to take the step down to League 2 so you could enjoy the journey with your football club? Because, you know, there's not many teams that can experience that, especially a big six team as well like Manchester City. If I was in your position, yeah, it would be tough, but I actually kind of would love going up all the way through the divisions. >> Yeah, 100%. That like like I was just saying like a lot of City fans my age are actually jealous of their parents for going through that cuz it's just that I mean that's what that's what football's about like is that like it would bring the fans closer to the team. Um, and I think cuz especially like the better we are, the more big money football is, there is a bigger disconnect between the team and the fans. >> So, I think getting relegated would bring us closer and it would make it I think it would make it more enjoyable. Um, and I think the love between Yeah, the love between the fans and the team would just get stronger. >> Jame, um, it probably feels like a broken record and you've had this conversation on group chats. No doubt. Florian Vvers mate just I just I find mate I find it so difficult to watch you know that Bradley Barkler has not gotten off to the start as well that he's wanted in the Premier League. He still needs to adjust but it just ain't clicking for Florian verse mate. I mean how long are we actually giving him if if if it stays the same for the remainder of this season cuz I just don't see I the the pundits are making a really good point in the postmatch and at halftime. He is looking for that perfect pass every single time. Just play with a bit of flare. Play with a bit of freedom. If it doesn't click by the time the the end of the season comes around in May, do you think he'll be out the door next summer? >> Yeah, I think that's a possibility. I would take about the team now because I think with this Liverpool team right now, we're still trying to figure out maybe going forward like what clicks. Barola is obviously in the team now, but in my point of view, our best forward line is Gako, Eac, and Munoz. Those are the three I would start. I would probably take out Vers and put in Sloasai, Mallister, and Gramer as a midfield tree to try to win a midfield tree and then go from there. Like give them a platform because right now we're not seeing enough out of these 100 million players. Like if you look at that match yesterday, Munoz, Kumas, Churkey, Doku, all like very cheap relative to what we're looking at for Florian Berts and and Barca and they delivered. Do you know what I mean? Like we're looking at players like I think Turkey as well is probably the most prominent one because if you compare the fact that Liverpool were potentially looking at him >> and City got him for a third of the price, we went for a big money sign and it hasn't paid off. So I think right now why we take him out of the team because just not good enough. I think every decision that he makes is the wrong decision. Like is it in the second half you go to that where Liverpool are a bit on top. He shoots when he should pass and he passes when he should shoot. You know what I mean? That's what we're seeing with him right now is and you can say about confidence. You can say about maybe he doesn't have the runners in the team or the quality around him isn't good enough. But at the end of the day you still need to be performing when you're 100 million pound player. And the first half, the 25th minute, when he takes a touch, like I want a hundred million euro player to be able to take a first touch in a semicircle and he bounces off him 10 yards and Hen's able to take it away from him. Like I think a lot of Liverpool fans have had a lot of patience with him for the best part of 18 months. Right now it's it's about putting a standing up and taking a bit of responsibility. And I think for him, he needs to come out of team for his sake. Otherwise, I think it's only going to get worse and worse. >> Jame, you're definitely the value of about a 10 pound player. and your touch would be better than that, wouldn't it? >> Um, I'd say 20 >> packed house at Anfield. Come on now. Will um Jamie sort of makes a good point there as well and I was thinking about I was watching it last night obviously and that Turkey goal was filth. I mean all of the Manchester City goals are good. The finish from Harland Dou the the sort of arm one and circle finesse shot and the whole movement for um for for Ryan Turkeykey's goal was sensational. Liverpool fans must be looking at it and just going what? Why can't why can't Floren BS do what Ryan Cherky does? Because as footballing terms and as a footballer I mean Erling Holl is the best player in the Premier League, but the best footballer in the Premier League easily along with Bruno Fernandez is probably Ryan Chery. Yeah, they're they're the players you want on the ball like Ryan Chery, Jeremy Doyu because obviously we all know how good Harland is, but if you're trying to win a game, you want Cherokee and Do on the ball cuz they're just I mean they're just beautiful to watch. They're they're a perfect player for just a a football fan. Um like Cherokee that is a man that can properly control an entire attack. When he's on the ball running through the middle of the pitch, you know something's going to happen. Um so I I think it was a shame that Smeno at times in that first half kind of let us down a bit when the ball would go to him and kind of slow it down a bit. Um, and then but that second half like when you got Doyu on like I just said um and then you got Cherokee kind of conducting that whole attack it it it's just beautiful to watch. >> They're scary. They are scary. If I was a center half or I was a fullback and we saw it with Friong getting turned inside and out last night. Um there is no fear factor to Florians whatsoever. And I think with with Ryan Chucky being the absolute maverick that he is he's unpredictable. He's an unorthodox number 10 that you don't know if he's going to tell you new inside and out and all of a sudden he's through on goal. And I've got to give a lot of praise to Elliot Anderson as well. Absolutely fantastic. It's an absolute joke. Right, let's get into the tasty section of the show where our two guests go at each other and get off their chest what they really want to get off their chest about the other team. Feel feel free to interrupt and give it some. Just keep it clean. Jamie, we'll start with you. Um, with Liverpool being the home team, should this game have an asterisk next to its name? >> Yeah, I think every game Man City play from now to the end of the season is going to have an asterisk against it. I think like Will made a good point at the start that like City fans have to enjoy it because at the end of the day, they know none of it matters. So now going forward, they have those charges over them. We've kind of waited and we've said, listen, we're not going to obviously discredit anything that they've done up until that point. But even if you go to the charges that have been charged up until 2018, like what has happened after 2018? Like there's no way they just said, you know what, we'll stop at 2018 and then we'll make sure we play by the rules by that point on. Like they've continued to cheat for the best part of two decades. And really, I know obviously the performance from Liverpool's point of view, we can hold our hands up for that, especially after the red card, but at the end of the day, none of it really matters. And I think a lot of a lot of fans playing City, they'll have to enjoy it. really else they can do but I don't think anyone's really looking at saying yeah we can praise this team for one >> will your response or would you like to get something off your chest about Liverpool? >> Yeah. No no I'll respond to that. I think look as much as you you know either come across that either you hate us or that you know you don't care about us or that you know there's the asterisk there. I think Liverpool fans have got to acknowledge they've got a lot of love for us. I think we've we've given them the best rivalry that the Premier League's seen in years and years. So even though you know you hate us cheats, >> well you've given us a rivalry. The only reason you've been able to compete with Liverpool was because you were cheating. Like Liverpool have built realistically the best team in Premier League history legally and Man City have done it just about been able to beat us because they were >> Well, hey, look, there's much I can say to that really, is there? Look, I I just think look, I think I think it's a real shame that if we look back on everything over the years and just put an asterisk next to everything and just think, you know, did it did it all m cuz I mean obviously to me it matters. It's not going to change the way I feel about anything. Um and I think it is just a shame that we've got to look back on all those memories, all those great matches, all those, you know, trophies won, whatever for for both sides. Um, and just think did you know City matter at all in any of this? I just think it ruins it. >> Who do you blame for that? Like when you say it's a shame. Who do you blame? >> I don't I I mean the thing is I >> like we're all we're all thinking the same thing. We know who's to blame. It's not Man City supporters. They're victims and I really what you said, >> but like you're looking to a group >> that own Manchester City Football Club. Are they not to blame for the shame that you're saying that it's a pity that we have to look back and say of what happened with City was illegal and the reason that you have that success was because of them? That's the shame. So they're to blame. No. >> Yeah. No, of course. Of course. If if anyone's to blame, it is them. And I think it is just it's it's obviously hard for me because I've spent the past 15 years of my life saying we've got the best owners in the world. We've the best run club in the world. So, it's obviously hard for me to then suddenly turn around and be like, actually, they've just I, you know, hate them. They've ruined it. Um, and I still I still even now I still I still back them. I don't want them I don't want them gone. Um, you know, obviously we're putting an appeal in. We'll see what happens with that. Um, but, you know, obviously obviously it's hard for me like I I can't come on here and say that I'm against them. I'm going to turn on them. I can't do that. But it's kind of like you're married for 25 years and you find her cheating on you, then all of a sudden you just go, "Oh, I can't love her anymore." That's how that's how I see it. Just a normal human. >> May maybe, maybe. But at the same time, like it's the the real marriage is between the club. It's been the fans and the club, not the fans and the owners. >> So it doesn't change any it doesn't change anything about my love towards City. Um, so at the end of the day, you know, if the owners are there in 10 years time, still I'm still going to love City. If they go tomorrow, I'm still going to love City. So it doesn't it doesn't change anything there. >> There's a high possibility as well, of course, if it goes to the High Court, it could take 2 years, but um obviously we're not lawyers here. We don't know actually how long the time frame is going to be. But listen, ladies and gentlemen, it's going to get even more juicy as this goes on. This story is not going anywhere anywhere anywhere. It's going to get more dramatic. More things are going to unfold. And I tell you what, it's it's it's probably I mean, we've never experienced really a Premier League season like this. We've seen points deductions for, you know, Everton and Leicester in the past, but nothing as seismic as what we're witnessing right now because this is a real moment in football history. And, you know, I don't want those Manchester City fans to be, you know, affected too badly. Yes, I do think they should be sent down to League 2, but this is a real moment that we're going to be looking back on for, you know, the rest of our lives. That is how huge that this situation is. Um, lads, I want to thank you so much for this morning, Jamie and Will, off the back of Liverpool losing 3-0 to Manchester City. I'll speak to you later on in the season, of course, with this story developing and, you know, as we
