"CONCERNING!" Dwight Yorke INSISTS Michael Carrick needs to BOLD and BRAVE as Man United boss!
Yorke: Carrick must be bold and brave at Man United and stop picking by reputation
The show discusses Manchester United's poor Premier League start, with only six points from six games and another failure to beat a 10-man Spurs. Dwight Yorke says Carrick is under huge pressure and must make bold, results-based decisions, trust the young forward and do it his way; the host questions the forwards' responsibility and says this squad does not look like a top-eight team.
- Man United again failed to get over the line against a 10-man side, looking very poor in the first half despite improving after the break — He only saw the highlights but felt the first half was really poor and the second better, yet they still could not beat 10-man Spurs.
- United's six points from six games is alarming, especially after failing to beat a struggling Spurs despite a favourable early fixture list — He says the early fixtures were favourable and more points were expected, and failing to take all three against Spurs was a clear warning sign.
- United's forward players are talented but are not doing enough or carrying responsibility for the team — He says good forward play is the best way to bail the team out, and he does not see that from them.
- Carrick should play the young forward as a No. 9 and trust him instead of leaving him out — He says the player has the attributes, works extremely hard, is a handful and scored off the bench, so he should be given the chance to lead the line.
- United are roughly where they should be with this squad and do not look like a top-eight team — He compares them with the competition and squads around them and says they might move a couple of places either way but are not top eight.
- The real worry is United failing to beat lesser teams like Ipswich and Hull; if they cannot beat the teams they should, they have little chance against the top sides — He says a manager can lose to City because people expect it, but being dominated at home by teams like Ipswich and Tottenham is a major warning.
- Pressure on Carrick will only intensify over the next two to three weeks unless he gets a couple of quick wins — He points to the away trip to Atletico Madrid and the weekend game at Leeds as difficult tests.
- Carrick must make bold football decisions and pick the team that gets results rather than picking by reputation or seniority; if he is going to lose his job, he should do it his way — He says the senior players are letting Carrick down and the team lacks conviction, so he should trust younger players if they offer more.

just to one victory from six Premier League games. That was a controversial three points at home to IPS which in August United were outplayed for large periods by tournament Saturday. And to make matters worse, they threw away two points after Spurs again down to 10 men. >> Haven't seen a lot of United opening the game at Hull. >> Mhm. Saw him against City. >> Yeah, obviously I was there that day. Y >> and that was against 10 and again at the weekend they couldn't seem to exploit that like we saw from from City yesterday. Um so they got a tough month. They got a very difficult October rally starting with tomorrow night in Madrid. >> Absolutely 100%. Well, one man that knows the club as well as MD. We're going to go to you right now at Sex Villa United Blackburn Machine. Dwight York, a very good morning. Thanks for joining us. How are you? >> Morning Dwight. >> Morning. Morning mate. How you doing? >> Top form mate. We're in top form. >> He calls me the beak Yorkie. Right. >> Well, I think that's very awesome. Very unfair. Don't you >> There's never been a more nickname. It's nothing personal, Andy. It's nothing personal. Okay, >> Yorkie. Listen, we watched the obviously the Liverpool City game was the main we were talking about this morning, but United again, mate. Um, against 10 men first half. I only saw the highlights, shorty, but I've got to say United looked really poor first half, but better second half, but can't go over the line against 10 men again. >> Yeah, I I heard Andy saying that they got a really tough month ahead. They had a tough start to the season, let alone, you know, the month ahead of them. You know, six games in and here we are talking about United certainly not in a positive way. And that has to be a little bit heartbreaking because we thought when Carrick came in that the team will obviously move forward and I think we not under any delusion in the fact that we were going to try and win the Premier League. That wasn't going to happen. But certainly, no disrespect when you look at the the beginning of the season and the draw that we got. We got a really favorable draw against the lesser team so to speak and not that's me not disrespecting any team in the in the Premier League but certainly when you look at that fixture you expect after six points that United shouldn't be in that position that they are but here we are we facing in a position where we got six points from six games that is certainly not the United and if you are a United fan and what we have seen on the back of Tottenham a team that is really struggling and we haven't been able to take all three points all though they got a mindset top, there is some alarming and some warning signs there. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Dwight, I mean, look, a lot has been made of the summer United A. We won't dwell on that. That's long in the past. Now, the one area of the team that I think when I look in those forward areas where you operated so successfully. I look there and I see a lot of very talented lads who I don't think are doing enough, shouldering the responsibility for the rest of the team. Nothing can bail you out better than some some some good boys up front doing their stuff and I don't think they are. >> Yeah, I think there are some question marks there and it it shows yet again. Um, United has always been, you know, talented in the terms in the attacking areas and we always tend to win games from the front. Yes, defenders do play the role and there have been some terrific defenders in the past, but certainly if we were to win games, we normally tend to win it from the front. And so when you look at those players up top, I mean for me the question mark there with Carrick, I don't understand why Cisco doesn't play. I know he's injured now, but you've got to play the guy as a nine. I think Ali, you've been a nine yourself. And I think you have to trust the kid. The kid is got all the attributes. Yes, he come off the bench and scored and all that, but you got to push him up top and let the others play around him and feed off him because he's a handful. He works extremely hard. And for me, that's the one thing that is a little bit concerning that he doesn't give Cesco that that opportunity to really lead that line up top. >> Well, we look at the the United squad just now, for example. York, I'm looking at it, right? And I look at the competition and the teams and the squads around it. And you know what I think, mate? I think they are probably roughly where they should be with that squad of players and that team. I can argue maybe up a couple of places or down a couple of places, but I just don't think they look a top eight team York at the moment. I I I totally agree with you. I think we all are scratching our head when we looked at the whole performance and the other games that priorit switch which we got lucky in. We certainly shouldn't be in the position we are. it could have probably been a a position or two worse off. But, you know, I I I can't get me head around it if I'm honest with you. The fact that we not been able to beat those lesser team, those teams, I'm saying as a manager, as as a a manager who, you know, have my manager head on, you want to beat the IPS, you want to be the the the the hull of this world. You do that, you're in a job, you can lose the city because people kind of have expecting it. But when you start having teams like you know IPS and them are turning up at your place and Tottenham and really dominating you for me that's a little bit of concern and that that's the the worrying factor in in all the football that I looked at. Yeah. And yes I'm not saying that we're going to win the Premier League because we're far from that. But beat the teams beat the teams that we expected to beat. And if we're not doing that what chance have we got beating the top teams? Yeah, look, there's a fair amount of heat around Michael this morning as he would have expected and we've all well imagined. Um, it's only going to intensify, Dwight, over the particularly, I think, over the next two to three weeks. They got Atleti away leads at Ellen Road at the weekend. That is not going to be an easy game. It's always a tester for United uh team going there. He's going to come under it if he doesn't get a couple of wins from somewhere quick. >> Yeah, absolutely. There's no hiding place, so to speak. and you got to go in there and really get the boys fired up and and and get them out to the position that they are in. And they don't come a much stiffer test than in Atletico Atletico Madrid away. Uh that's going to be really testing. As you know, you mentioned you know Le and the players must be low on confidence. He's got to find a way as a manager. You get paid the big bucks. You got to make tough decision. Most importantly, you say tough decision. You got to make footballing decision. You got to pick a team that is going to get you results. Not pick people because of their seniority or they don't that's that's out the window. If you feel there's a young player that gives you more, then you have to put him in there and really trust your instinct as a manager and really get the best out of the players. I feel that he's picking players based on reputation. He's not picking players based on what is the best team for Man United in terms of getting the result and he's paying the price for it. you know, he's relying on some of those senior players to get him out to the position. Instead, they're letting him down. The team is not playing. They're lackluster. They're not playing with conviction. You name it. There is all the writing on the wall there. And if he doesn't really says, "Right, if I'm going to lose my job, lose my job doing it my way instead of rather than, you know, sort of pleasing people in in in in around the football team." >> Yorkie, great to see you, mate. Thanks for your time this morning. >> Great to see you, mate. >> Take care. Cheers, mate. He's put you away there, didn't he? >> Put me away there. By the way, >> very harsh. >> Think was any need for that Monday morning? Just >> a walk in Monday morning. Morning beak. I say thanks to my Morning.
