The first time now since learning of the guilty verdict, they'll actually be coming to us live from Manchester right now ahead of the first press conference from Maresca. It's a very, very good morning to our Manchester correspondent, Mickey Gray. Mickey, morning, pal. >> How you doing, Mickey? >> All right, good morning to you. How's things? >> I can tell where you are. It's pouring down. >> Yeah, it always pours in Manchester, Ali. But, look, I think it's been talked about for over a week now, isn't it, this press conference with Enzo Maresca? And he's behind me in the Joy building. I'm just going to be going in there in about the next 5 or 10 minutes to see what he has to say. >> Yeah. >> Well, there's not a lot he he can say, really, Mickey. All he can say is that all the players are in the right frame of mind. They're going to go. We know how hard it is to go to Liverpool anyway. Uh we've just got to put worry about what we do on the pitch and what the club does behind. They Let them sort it out and we we just do our job. >> Mhm. >> Yeah, I think they're very clever yesterday, Ray. I saw the interviews from Erling Haaland and Enzo Maresca. They did it through the club themselves and they kind of got the word out yesterday. But, I'll be very surprised if there's too many football questions when I walk into that press conference um this morning because I think it's just going all going to be about these 114 or 115 charges. >> he's going to make it clear. Maresca's just going to hold his hands up. Before you start, I'm not even going to talk about it. I want to talk about this massive game at Mansfield. Yeah. >> Yeah, well, I I mean, I've been in press conferences before, whether it's been at Manchester United or Manchester City. And um there's there's somebody a club representative who's been in inside the press conference and he's made a statement before they've actually um started the press conference. So, it wouldn't surprise me if that happens today when I walk through the door. But, there's no doubt in my mind that there is going to be a lot of questions about what's happened over the last week. But, absolutely, there's a huge game coming up at the weekend against Liverpool. >> Yeah. It could be the probably the worst game you could probably play, Mickey, in it at the Man City because, you know, we all know the the rivalry and what happened before and all that sort of stuff. And then they go in there and um sure around the country it's going to be exactly the same with every away game they go to. They're going to get a lot of stick and the players have just got to say, "Well, look, we we expect it." And they've just got to get on with it and and shut them up by winning football matches. >> Well, well, look, I mean, you guys have been there. You've been players. You know exactly what it's like. I think all the noise is going to be in the stands. It's going to be, you know, around the football stadiums wherever Manchester City go now as a player. As soon as you cross that white line, you've got a job to do and that's that's going to win football matches. And I think that's the way that the Man City players have got to start reacting every single week. They've got to try and silence the noise if they possibly can. They've got the players to do. We know that. Look, whatever punishment comes their way, Ray and Al, it's going to be there whether it's at the end of the season or not. We don't know when that's going to be. But when it does come around, the players aren't bothered about that. They're getting paid every single week. They're getting paid to win football matches and I don't think that's going to change. Um it's what the club are going to come out with eventually, the statement they're going to come out with and what charges is going to be coming their way. >> We can't We can't keep asking Mickey questions. He's getting soaked. >> Uh no, I mean, Mickey's fine, isn't he? You know, that old banner that's getting rid of that [laughter] wall. Mickey, uh Manchester United spells, you know, you see a lot of United. This is a big one. >> Yeah, it's massive, Al. Yeah, I mean, Manchester at the moment, there's a lot of talking, isn't there, going on on and off the field. Um they haven't got off to the best start. I think Micah was a little bit surprised at the start that Man United have had this season. They've not performed well and I think all the stats start to come out when they're not winning football matches, you know, the running stats. I think it was a couple of weeks ago when they played against Fulham. You know, things like that when you're not winning games. They've got to turn their season around, but it's going to be very difficult against a Tottenham side who are still obviously searching for wins themselves. >> Yes. So, uh yeah, it's massive in Manchester this weekend. It's going to be a huge game also. >> Mickey and Joey make >> Cheers Mickey. winning. >> Thank you Mickey. Mickey Gray there. >> Thanks mate. >> Sorry, brilliant Mickey. Yeah, it's it's difficult for the Maresca, isn't it? Little Sam joins us. >> Is it Sam? >> I heard of the 10 o'clock show. How are we Sam? >> I'm fine, thank you. How are you two? >> Very good. >> Lovely to see you again. >> How was your international four games? Did you enjoy it? >> International window, brilliant, good fun. I thought England played really well for the for the most part. I thought they played some entertaining football. Listen, I mean I've >> Harry knows, doesn't he? >> I mean I've been to a lot of England games where you know it's tough to watch, but some of these were really good to >> I thought the Spanish game was great. >> Spanish game was a brilliant game of football, really good game of football. But Harry Kane, what can you say about him? 125 caps. He's absolutely terrific, isn't he? And we had debate last Sunday about whether or not he was the greatest England player of all time. I think he'll get there. >> go that high, would you? >> Yeah, well I think 125 caps for an outfield player. >> Shilton had 125. >> That's quite amazing. The goals he's got. He's got 92 goals. >> Yeah, no there's >> 25 caps. >> The the return phenomenal. >> Absolutely. >> Sam, what about you're going to cover this end zone because presser. It's going to be a great game as well as Liverpool. >> Listen, massive massive game and Crook and I will be there for game day live on Sunday. Liverpool against Man City. We'll bring you all the atmosphere, all the build up. >> You'll be actually at >> We'll be there at Anfield for that We definitely will be. We'll be on air from there from 1:30 on Sunday here on talkSPORT. It's a massive weekend. You've already mentioned the two big Manchester games, but it's a big weekend in terms of talking points as well, isn't it? >> How do Manchester City respond? >> Mhm. >> Maresca talking at 10:30. We'll take that press conference live on the show with Scott Minto and and Alex Crook. And this news that broke this morning about the Freakin Group and Everton. >> Yeah, they they Everton have got a good whole city, so >> I think they'll be I think you know listen, I think the the Everton I don't know. I'd like to hear from them, but the Everton fans will be furious about the fact that the way that their club has been treated over the last God knows how long, but I think they'd welcome new investment, new owners. Bearing in mind that only 2 years ago they bought this club. They haven't spent anything. They've got a new stadium. They've stripped all of the the best players, and now they're going to sell it. >> Yeah. Now, if you are the Arsenal manager, you just this little brief spell in that seat there this morning, you'd have earned 17 grand. >> Wow. >> Yeah. It's not bad, is it? >> Yeah, I would take it. I would take it. 20 million pound a year. Oh, good luck to him. I did say I did say I did say >> Alan Alan's not far behind him. >> I was sitting quite close to right there, and then when he got the 20 million pound, there was a little twitch in the left eye there. >> I tell you what, I tell you what, I'll say good luck to him. That's what I say. >> He's earned He's earned it, hasn't he? >> And by the way, that's what they pay >> That's what they pay for top managers, and he's a top manager. >> Yeah, but Michael hasn't got a brand new Bentley. >> [laughter] >> And nor have I. >> Oh. >> Yeah. >> 3 months old. >> Uh the Dockers Derby, Pompey, Southampton, how'd you see that one going? >> I tell you what, what a fantastic game. I've done a lot of those over the the years. >> you have, haven't you? >> And last year I did I was down there for the Southampton game, it nil nil at home, it was a draw at Fratton Park as well. Listen, it's difficult, isn't it? I mean, the good news for Southampton is the news that came out about Ton Thatcher this week that he's going to be able to keep his job as the Southampton manager. I think many people thought that that wasn't going to be the case when the FA convened to talk about the the punishment for the Spygate. But, the Pompey fans will certainly let them have it. >> Yeah. >> There's no doubt about that. They're always brilliant at creating a great atmosphere. Looking forward to that game, it's live on talkSPORT 2 on Sunday. >> And don't forget little Sam and Crookie, both Pompey fans to Southampton fans, get your calls in from 10:00. >> Ring us if you want, we don't mind. >> Hello. Sam, thank you. Have a great weekend. >> See you later. >> Sam Matterface, Alex Crookie, and Scott Minto. Don't forget Scott from 10:00 a.m. Now, it's been reported some Premier League clubs were so astonished by comments made by Andy Burnham appealing to downplay the verdict against City, the charges that they are now concerned about political interference in the appeal process, and rightly so in my opinion, my humble opinion. I couldn't agree more. Burnham addressed his comments yesterday when speaking in Berlin. >> No, I haven't downplayed the seriousness of the findings. They are findings that need to be considered with great care and seriousness. And then the process that considers them needs to be fully independent, and I said that last week. I'll repeat it again today. And I think it's incumbent on everybody now to let the process run its course. I was asked a question about wider investment. I think it's important to separate the football issues from wider investment. The football issues have to be looked at fully, and that is without question. And obviously, the process then allowed to run its course without further wider comment being made. >> Now, just very briefly, cuz I don't want to get into a can of worms. I don't want to get involved. I thought it was very silly what he said earlier about it and Abu Dhabi group. I understand the relationship between the United Kingdom government and Abu Dhabi. I understand that absolutely. But, when it comes I know he's a big football fan. Yeah, no doubt we all know that. Evertonian, big football fan. This is different. This is about if it is cheating at the tax man's involved now, I believe that the Inland Revenue got involved. You have to separate these regardless of the commas between Abu Dhabi and UK. >> football matter. >> And Andy Burnham has to stay out of it. He has. >> It's a football matter. It's not politics. >> I don't think he can though, and I think the Labour Labour Party colleagues will be thinking, what has he said? I really do. They had a political great conference. It's a It's a big deal. We're not going to hear the end of this. >> No, no. And we've just got to sit here. Nobody knows what the outcome's going to be, whether it's going to be points, whether it's whether they're going to appeal and and somehow they're very confident they could get win win the case. I don't know. >> Yeah. >> All you got to do as a as a football fan now, get it done as quick as possible. I don't know how long it's going to drag on now because as you rightly said, they can go to different courts and the Supreme Court and all that sort of stuff. And how long's that take, Al? >> Yeah. >> That's the big the question. Will it will it be for next season cuz they've got an excellent chance of winning the league this year.
