We mentioned that Brighton. Wow. Um >> that's a tough afternoon to lose, you know, any derby game. Uh that is a derby. Uh although the geographically it probably isn't, but um that is a that is a really poor result for the manager and uh he's got a tough game. He's away Thursday and then another big game. It's a big big week for the manager at Crystal Palace. But Brighton go from strength to strength. Herszilla. Herszla. Am I saying that correct? Herzilla. >> Herzilla. U manager of the month for September. Gross player of the month. Dunk goal of the month for September. And here they are in October still ripping it up. >> Well, goal of the month for October is surely going to be Gomez's goal from the halfway line. >> Well, >> that was outstanding. >> Yeah, it was a great that was something else as well. So, yeah, they might be winning awards left, right, and center here. And um you know, from where they were, Palace beaten 1 nil on the back of a sort of 11 game run last year. uh and you're thinking oh the manager might you know might be on his way and what a turnaround that's been uh for Brighton and uh fair play to him Tony Bloom and co uh doing a magnificent job. >> Well Paris have already conceded 17 league goals in seven games PS has apologized to the fans performance at Brighton. Um before we look how good Brighton have been Crystal Palace is that worrying signs for them and you know have you come out as a manager before and apologize to the fans part you done that before? Yeah, I think there's a couple of times as Newcastle manager you I was kind of not forced to, but I thought, oh, I better do that just to sort of calm the waters a little bit to sort of hold our hands up. Good for the team actually. Uh for the manager to sometimes do that uh take a bit of pressure off them because you know if you think the manager's under a kosh, he will be uh but so will the players. Uh and you don't want them to lose confidence at crucial period of the season. But, you know, Palace, unfortunately for them performance-wise, it it hasn't started well for the manager. >> No. >> And and this game kind of reflects some of the performances, although they've nicked results here and there, like Forest last week could have been out of sight. Night and Forest and yet Palace ended up winning the game. So, you know, there have been moments, but today there's a real shakeup and as you say, 17 goals conceded um the most in the Premier League. That is a big concern. >> Yeah, it is a big concern indeed. Brighton, however, they've scored 23 goals are now second >> in the league. >> Only, what was it? Only three other teams was a stat on the on the TV. Only three other teams in the Premier League have scored more goals at this time of the year, which is astounding really, isn't it? >> Yeah. >> For a club of Brighton size. So, fair play to them. Terrific day for them and their fans. And I'm sure we'll get one or two celebrational fans coming on. Uh I'd like to hear from Crystal Palace fans as well perhaps who went to the game. Uh >> Brighton have scored 12 goals more than Arsenal >> like I know it's been 1-0 to the Arsenal this season >> mainly. Yeah, >> like the old days. >> But Brighton, well, Brighton fans, how happy are you with, >> but we said start to the season? >> I don't know if you remember, M when we the first couple of shows we had, we had an Arsenal fan come on and he said to me, "Oh, do you think like with Arsenal winning the league, uh, you know, they'll open up this season?" And I said, "No, they'll be exactly the same." And they are being exactly the same. They're they're set up methodically to win games, close games, but have the margins to just get over the line, set plays quite dogged. I even at the end there in that forest game, I could see Declan Rice going mad at Cal Fiori because he had got too far forward and it almost cost him the the chance at the end with the lap where he's out of position. You know, what is he doing when you're one up? That's the kind of mentality that Arsenal have. >> Um and that was a rare moment when they get caught out. Um and Forest, you know, what about the center half? >> Yeah, >> what a great bit of skill that was, wasn't it? >> Was unbelievable. >> That was one of the best bits of skill of the weekend. and he he almost curled it in the top corner. But as you say, um Manchester City win yesterday, Arsenal win today, and and those two look uh a class apart, don't they? >> Yeah, they are the >> Well, then then you say that Brighton, throw them into the mix. >> Well, yeah, but yeah, that is being a bit Well, maybe that was me Crystal Palace head on there >> subconsciously. Let's go straight to the phone lines cuz we are joined by an Arsenal fan. Kieran joins us on the final world. Good evening, Kieran. >> Evening boys. You all right? >> Yeah, very well mate. Three points on the board. Who cares how you play? >> That's it. Another three points. That's it. That's it. But the game itself wasn't We need to play a lot better, boys, man. Cuz cuz playing like that, we're getting through it. But over 38 games, I don't think it'll be enough to compete with. Look, see, you're going seven for seven at the moment. Who knows what's going to happen with them, but yeah, that's that's that's the target right now. And >> you know what? against a not in a forest side who are trying to find their first win at home of the season. You know, it's never going to be easy. There's no easy games in the Premier League here as we know. So, I I think that's a really good three points for Arsenal today, Pod. >> Uh well, especially on the back of the way Forest defended. I thought they defended really really well. Thought the goalie looks sound. Back four were good. Uh back five, I should say. Um and then obviously they they kind of camped in a little bit which was their undoing. um you know they went sort of bit too deep that you know sometimes that happens remember we see it with England in the in the semi-final of the World Cup where you know that negativity just gets into the head of teams and I think Oliver um will probably be smarting a little bit that they they they got that in that mode if you know what I mean. They were kind of they just got too deep and therefore they conceded a goal where the back the defenders are in the way. Does that make sense? If there was if there was a little bit higher that wouldn't have got that deflection. It wouldn't Yeah, exactly. Kieran, do you think the gaffer had one eye on the game in the week? Of course, because you got a massive game against Bayern Munich in the week, haven't you? >> It is a big game in the week, but we got to take each game at a time. So, the the game in front of you is the biggest game in my opinion. So, >> we need it's a good three-pointers. Noni Kam actually made a big difference out on that left hand side to be honest cuz he did very very quiet. And I'm worried for EZ cuz it's yeah he just it's just not clicking for him at Arsenal and at Palace he was just like so so good. >> I was having this discussion Kieran with pods off air actually about uh EZ because of course apart from absolutely >> bodying spurs last season a couple of times um which was the irony of it all. He hasn't really set the world on fire for Arsenal has he? And I can't help but think the way that Arteta is as a manager, the way he sets his team up, the freedom that EZ needs as a player, he doesn't seem like an Arteta player. >> Yeah, I I in the way that he sets up his number 10, I don't see it as getting a a lot of action there because um there's a real defensive side to that number 10 position he likes that Omgrad does that he doesn't do. And uh I think that that Arteta doesn't feel comfortable with that. I think there's certain games um against perhaps lesser opposition where EZ will be given that number 10 shirt, but I've seen him out on the left side for Crystal Palace actually a few times. It's not it's just not him. He's never going to going to go down the outside and whip left what he crosses in. He wants to come and play centrally. He's going to make the the g the game too narrow. Therefore, you got not enough width. So, you know, it it's kind of is a problem, I think. And uh Arteta took him off I thought today rightly in my opinion because it just wasn't working in the first instance though perhaps he shouldn't have started him there uh and used him as an impact as a number 10 and I think that will be his role at Arsenal if they need a goal uh I don't think as going to be a starter uh for most of the games I think he'll be a sub and if they need a kind of a moment or he's looking for a moment the manager to give him the last sort of 10 15 minutes of of of games. >> Let's go to Jack. He's a Forest fan. He was at the game today. You all right, Jack? >> Evening, James. How are we? >> Um, you must be frustrated, mate, because I felt you deserved something today. >> Yeah. Yeah, def definitely frustrated is probably the word I'd use. I actually think so far this season it was our best performance. And I know we've come away with a loss, but you know, against the champions at home with our key talisman out, I thought we did definitely enough to take something from the game, especially with those about three chances in the last 10 minutes. And I think what lost us is after the subs, I just don't think we knew what to do for about 10 minutes and against Arsenal that can just kill you. >> Yeah, I agree with that. >> Liam Dap, right, he's working so hard. It's unfortunate he's not getting, you know, the goals and the rewards for his hard work. What have you made of him so far, Jack? >> I actually I absolutely love him. I think he's actually played fantastic in all the games he's played today. I agree with that. >> He made Gabrielle look like not Gabrielle and I think that's the best compliment you can make to him. Every single ball that came up to him, he won everyone. He was flicking it on. It was getting everyone involved on the ball, driving towards the goal with a ball, you know, it was like seeing watching an oldfashioned number nine. Um, and you know, I think the goals will come with him and more chance to get Gibbs White back in the team, I think they will come. >> Yeah, he's a big loss. >> But no, today and all the people around us and nobody was moaning at Dap for sure. The effort he put in was absolutely amazing. Just one thing about Dilap right when it he looked like the player was switched because when he went to Chelsea >> I just think there was extra weight on him you know the weight of expectation the weight of the club >> and I think at forest he looked a yard quicker today uh to me >> didn't he what I really liked he was on the front foot all the time going at Arsenal >> and he was you know using his body well as you mentioned before Jack and also you know using skills dropping his shoulder he looked especially when we're looking at you know potential >> you know number nines moving forward would in the Premier League. >> There's not many. >> There's not many. And definitely good. What did you make of Arsenal's performance today as the champions? >> I mean, they just they're the champions. So, I I will put that out there. You can't say that they aren't a good team because they are. But, I mean, how how they're the champions, I I just don't know. They are the masters of 1 nil. Again, they do it. They're fantastic at it. But the amount of things that go unnoticed that they do and then they shout every single time they shout for an offside, they shout for a foul, they get touched, they fall over. And fair play to them, they're very very good at it. But I I honestly think of all the champions of the Premier League. They're just they're not the one of the best. By by a long shot, you could easily name probably 20 teams that were champions that were better. >> Jack, do you need me to ask you a quick question? They I agree with you on the dark arts. They're pretty good at that. Um the atmosphere there today looked flat to me. I mean, you know, obviously you was in the stadium. Was it, you know, sometimes doesn't really come across on TV coverage. What was it like? >> Yeah, flat. It was flattish, I would say, first half. >> Um they I think we we sort of gave them a bit too much respect first half in my opinion. I definitely think they were there to be got at. Um, and then you could see we were tiring. Um, and the fans sort of got back into it a little bit. Um, I think the thing is with Forest nowadays, if you look back to the season we came up and the season after, what kept us up was one, Morgan Gibbs, White and two, our fans. >> Um, and I think >> both missing today. Maybe >> the fans. >> Yeah, definitely. Definitely needed a little bit more. But I don't I don't want to speak on behalf of all Forest fans, but you know, >> five, six years ago would have bit your hands off for this game. And it it's just sort of becoming maybe the norm for fans. I don't know. I don't know. I've been going for what, 25 odd years. So, >> no, no, it's a great point, Jack, because expectations do change, don't they, when you've done, you know, as well as you have done in the Premier League in recent times. Jack, I want I want to ask you, you know, do you feel like Forest tried to park the bus today? Um, I think part of the bus is is a little bit I'm obviously biased, but I think part of the bus may be a little bit harsh first half. I think we were maybe trying to see what Arsenal were doing with them starting Ed who doesn't start every game. So maybe seeing what he was doing. >> Yeah. Re reason I asked reason I asked Jack is I want to bring an Arsenal fan in here, Bradley, >> because of course he you know he he feels that maybe teams are parking a bus against Arsenal. Let's get Bradley on and we'll keep you as well, Jack, so you can have a bit of a debate. Uh, how are you, Bradley? >> How you doing, lad? You're right. >> Three points on the board. That's all that matters, right? >> Yeah, I'm happy with it. Yeah, very happy with it. Especially they were a tough nut to crack today, Nottingham Forest. And the point I made to our producer there is that these teams that we're playing against and it's no disrespect because Arsenal are good technically, but when we're playing against the likes of Nottingham and Forest and Leil as we did in midweek and leads, it takes us a while to to work out what we've got to do. Does Cameron Fury have to come in and create space for the winger outside the same as Timber and Ben White? Who picks up the pockets in the middle? It's we have we have to have time to work it out because he says parking the bus are you know it's harsh to say that that's what not for set up to do today and the reason it was so flat is because we had to take the sting out the game been a home team and then we have to work away and if you see Arsenal's games this season it's probably lost 20 to 30 minutes when they really then go right this is it one touch bang bang bang and you see it one twos with Timber and and Erdigard corn round the corner to Rice balls going in the box but it is difficult to play against these low blocks. >> It is true P. It's difficult to play against low block teams that but that when you're champions that's that is what you face more you know more often than not when you look at Manchester City they have to face that every week as well. It is you know it is the conundrum of uh of success is that you know you have to work work your through way through that low block. Uh I think uh in terms of way Forest set up today um obviously they're looking to counter and I thought they countered. I was surprised actually Arsenal leaving Gabrielle with the lap one and one at times. So, you know, I thought they were quite brave Arsenal uh in trying to open up that that low block particularly as the game wore on. So, you know, I I take the point that that's what you're going to face. It is what you're going to face and uh that's why you have to have those offensive talents and that's why the big clubs have such an advantage over other clubs. they got real international talents to bring on and change the game uh from the bench which they which happened today. >> Bradley, did you hear Jack's comments about you being probably the worst champions in out of about 20? What do you reckon? >> I don't Yeah, I don't really listen to that sort of stuff. It's the same as everything. You know what it's like. People, you know, when they say about set pieces, oh, Arsenal have got nothing but set pieces yet. Every goal we've scored this season, 22, 23, none of them have been set pieces. But all of a sudden it's it should be a good armory that you have in your locker. But not because we're not doing it. Stuff like that's just noise. You know what I mean? Who remembers how people played is whoever won picked the trophy up at the end of the year. >> I don't think Arsenal care about that either. >> Great points Bradley and Jack. Thank you very much boys.
