The show previews Manchester United v Tottenham and argues the pressure is heavier on United, who must beat the bottom side. The guests strongly criticise Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Carrick over standards and leadership, while Spurs fans worry about James Maddison's fitness and De Zerbi's volatility; one contributor even says United are worse than Spurs.

Who needs to win the most? Carrick in 12th, Deserby on 20th. Who's in more danger of seeing the P45? >> I think it's essential. Look, look, ad no real winners here, right? It's not an easy question at all, but I would say this game under normal circumstances would be the game of the weekend. Like, we would be focusing entirely on this fixture. It is massive for Old Trafford. Now, I I think the pressure is actually more on Manchester United. Partly because they're at home. >> Agreed. partly because they're at home and partly because of the expectation what was supposed to happen. Tottenham Hotspur playing away at Old Trafford. It's not an easy place to go. It's Old Trafford, right? It's the biggest club in the country. It's a great history. It's been a very, very tricky stadium for them over the years. Tottenham season won't be defined by how they get on away at Manchester United. But Manchester United season will be defined by how they get on to the team that currently sit bottom of the league. >> Yeah. So, okay. So if Spurs, this deserve that spent over 300 million quid, go to Old Trafford and don't win in six, you don't think that's a problem? >> No, because look, their next game after that will be Coventry, Tottenham play Comventry after that. >> Yeah. >> So if if you're telling me that they lose to Coventry, then I'll say, "Okay, now there's a problem for deserving." Then the pressure's on. Then the pressure is massively on Tottenham. But I think going away to Old Trafford, look, I Tottenham have played all right so far this season at points. I think against Villa, they should have won the game. They should have been about 3-0 up at half time and they just weren't. that save that the Suzuki made when it kind of went through his legs and he caught like it's unreal. >> But I just think Manchester United have to beat Tottenham. They have to beat Not only do they have to beat Tottenham because it's Tottenham, but they have to beat Tottenham because it's the team that are bottom of the league. They've already dropped points to hole this season. They've already been totally embarrassed against Manchester City at home. >> They weren't that great against Ipsswich. I know. >> No, no, they got very lucky. That Harry Mcguire hand ball, that Harry McGuire handball changed the game. So, no, I think >> deflected against Fulham. >> Fulham was appalling. >> Yeah, >> I I really do think that the pressure is massively on massively on Manchester United. Tottenham will be fine if they're going to find if they're going to be fine, they'll be fine whether or not they win this game. >> You know, you know, Rashford's getting away with it. You know, you know, like there's a lot of focus in other players and other teams and I feel like Rashford coming into this side, look, bear in mind, he doesn't really want to be there. We know that United don't really want him there as well. There's just a problem whereby no one seems to want to buy him and his wages are quite high, quite high. Very high. He's come in, there's no goals, there's no assists. >> Well, when you say he's getting away with it, I I don't know if he is. Firstly, I think people talk about him a lot, but secondly, >> I think this is just who he is now. No, >> what? >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Not you. >> I would say like we could put major pressure on a player like Bradley Barcoola, Florian Verds, because we think there's something there. We think there's something special there. We think that >> you don't think there's anything special there, Rashford. >> Marcus Rashford. Special. Absolutely not. >> Okay. >> Absolutely not. >> I think I think he's had a couple of good seasons for Manchester United. One in particular. I don't think he's had a good game for about 18 months. I can't really remember the last time that I that I backed him. I think he's all right for England, but he lost his place to Anthony Gordon. He was all right for Barcelona, but he lost his place for Anthony Gordon. He's now a starter for >> Manchester. Why is Carrick shoehorned him in then? like Kuna was playing well on that side and Burma was playing well on on the right and now Cheshko through the middle and you look at that and that's what got them to third in the league right that was it and Ahmed Dio was coming on now and again and so was Xerxi that was the front three that front three's fit and ready to go all of a sudden Rashford's come back and it's now kind of all over the place >> difficult isn't it because when you have a player of Rashford's quality it's very difficult to have a player of that quality and stature and and noisees whatever else >> quality I guess you're you're saying is maybe lacking or I I don't rate him. I don't rate him particularly highly. I don't think he's a consistent footballer. I don't think he's good enough to play for Manchester United. I think that he's had his moments and he's ultimately now he's ultimately now not going to succeed for Manchester United. But a player that comes with the prestige of Marcus Rashford can't be sitting on your bench either. >> So if he's there, he's got to play. And Michael Carrick probably thinks that he's the answer. Probably thinks that he's better than what he's got. Like nobody's really played well. You know when Burma scored a couple of goals but hasn't really played well. Kuna's been inconsistent. It's not It's not been good from anyone. But I guess the question here comes down to to just answering this as brutally as you can. Is Marcus Rashford good enough to play for Manchester United? And I think the answer is no. What do you think? >> Yeah. >> Will you rate him? >> No. I just don't think I don't rate United. >> Oh, so no. Sorry. No. No. The implication when I say are you good enough to play for Manchester United, I maybe I didn't phrase that as correctly as I said. The implication is are you good enough to play for Manchester United in terms of what Manchester United are supposed to be, who Manchester United are supposed to be. And the answer is no. If Manchester United are to ever get back to being they're the biggest club in the country, they are nearly the most successful club in the country to play for the biggest and second most successful. You should be elite beyond negotiation. Marcus Rashford's not that. Marcus Rashford is a is I think he'd be a really good player for Tottenham. >> Who is elite though in that United side? Apart from Bruno, who is >> I don't even rate Bruno Fernandez that highly. I don't think anyone. I think there is a lack of standards at the club. I think >> it's funny because I was digging out Carrick the other day and I kind of had to kind of rein it in a little bit. I was thinking, well, >> he's got a back four. >> No, he's got a back being a little bit kind either. >> No, he's not. But you, no one can work magic with Luke Shaw, Maguire, Lenny, Yura I like, but he's a kid hasn't really done much. >> Addy, you're being really kind, which is unlike you when it comes to Manchester United. >> You're you're right. You can't work magic. But whatever you think of of of the players that you've just listed, they're all better than the players that played for Hull on the first day of the season. >> Yeah. >> They're all better than the players that played for Fulham. >> Yeah. >> Last time out, >> for some reason run further. Yeah. >> You know, like Michael Carrick, I like Carrick. I really do. I I like I like him. I rate him as a as a man, as a footballer. I loved him. >> But he's getting it so wrong. Like the fact that the team looks so unfit, the fact that they're not covering any ground. Fact that they're not covering any ground. Look, was he done a was he sold a bit of a dud by the ownership? He's still starting Luke Shaw at left back. Yeah, it's ludicrous. Absolutely ludicrous and embarrassing for a club like Manchester United to be playing such pitiful defenders on a regular basis. >> But Michael Carrick isn't exempt from criticism here. Far from it. And when you talk about the lack of elite level footballers, I don't think Bruno Fernandez is anywhere near elite, by the way. I don't get it. I don't get the hype. I don't get the noise. I don't get why Manchester United fans love him so much. He's an example for me of the way that they've normalized the mediocrity at the club. They tell me that he's brilliant. Oh, Fergie would have loved him. Like, are you joking? Fergie wouldn't have even looked at him twice. He wouldn't have got anywhere near that team. He doesn't get anywhere near near a Manchester United team that are the standard that Manchester United are supposed to be. When you think about Manchester United midfielders, think about players that play for that club in midfield. I had somebody trying to convince me that he'd done more for Manchester United than David Beckham. I'm like, what's going on? Why has Bruno Fernandez got his fan club assist? >> Forget that nonsense. He was a captain of a Manchester United team that got beaten by and postto Tottenham in a European final. He's a captain. >> Yes, I expect more from him. He's a captain of that team. He's a captain of a Manchester United team that lost another European final. This time to Villa Royale. Unai Emry's Villa Royale. >> Can't do it himself. >> That's exactly what you're supposed to do when you're a Manchester United captain. Well, do you think that happens on on on Robson's watch? Do you think that happens on Cantonar's watch? Yeah. No, it happens on Bruno Fernandez's watch. He's the captain of a Man United team that loses 7-0il at Anfield, starts crying, demanding to be subbed. He is so far away from the standards that Manchester United are supposed to live. >> And this is why this is why I say we can't dig out Carrick too much. >> Wait, you can dig out Carrick too much. >> These are the players that he's having to work with. >> He's having to work with Rashford who doesn't want to be there. He's having to work with a captain. He's having to work with Meguire that's not good enough for the club anymore. Diego Dow. Luke Shaw can't stay fit. We're having a conversation here around what comes first. What comes first? Is it the chicken or the egg that you're talking about the lack of elite level players? I'm talking about the lack of an elite level manager. That the two go hand in hand. The standard >> You thought he should have got the job last season. >> Oh yeah. I thought he should have got the job. I thought he did everything >> and and he was given the job, >> right? >> He's five games in >> Eddie. To to to use my opinion, I'm a football fan with a with a with an opinion. To use my opinion, I'm not paid the big bucks by Manchester United to get this decision. >> I don't think we ever thought Carrick was elite, but I thought he was a good young English manager who knows the club, having played for them, and that's why he was given the job. >> Michael Carrick deserved the job. Yeah, >> he deserved it. Of course he did. >> Does he deserve it now? >> No. >> Okay. >> And somebody far more educated than me, somebody that meets Michael Carrick, somebody that has conversations with Michael Carrick, should have actually looked at what he did last year and gone, "Mate, you've had a touch here. You've done really well, but you're not you're not the guy for the job. And we're going to bring in Lewis Enrique, who is a elite level manager. And with that would come elite level football. >> I don't want to play at 5:30. I want to play preppy and blackout. >> They finished here pre-3. Spurs nil. >> Do you hate What do you think? You're sat there opening day of the season. You got the and mask on. >> I'm not a clown. >> Bottom of the table. Spurs have now lost their first two Premier League games. >> Where do I go from here? Where do where does Spurs go? Championship. You look unbelievable. We're guff mate. You know when what I say to you, you're going down. You know there's a question mark at the end of it. Now I'm going to say it and there's going to be an exclamation mark. You're going down. >> Oh, this program is the gift that keeps on giving. >> Hate work. I hate work. Get me off air now. Get me off here. Someone like turn turn it off. 03717234. >> It's gold in it. It's gold. Those two boys together, Jam Horror and Jason Kundi together and they're on air together tomorrow as well during the match for game day phoning from 5:30. >> Just just acknowledge what you said there. They're live during Tottenham getting beat by Manchester United. >> It's just it's it's appointment of view. It is sensational what they have done. I can't stop I can't stop staying up late. Like I've got a baby that keeps me I can't stop staying up late sports. >> How good was Kundi on Pierce Morgan the other Kandandy Sean >> Sean going into a world which can be difficult and he battered Pierce all over the place. >> Pier also Pier is brilliant at what he does, right? Brilliant. But you know that >> the second that Pier had to go for the sort of personal attack on Kundi, you know that about elite football. >> You can't say that because you lost Chelsea Tottenham. >> Yeah. And you've lost. Yeah. You lost. He's played football. He's been in the change room. He's been in the dressing rooms. He's done all that. He was on the pitch. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like what are you? >> Also also if the very the very simple answer to that you know if you know if Pier Morgan says to Jason Kundy what do you know about elite level football the very simple answer is well more than you mate >> simple is it >> more than you >> more than you will ever know >> that that's basically uh what I know by the way um QPR have scored in that game West Ham and nil QPR1 we all moan about V >> oh my lord >> such just put in one of the best tackles you're ever going to see and it's been given as a penalty it's a disgrace >> Thomas Suchek >> has put in honestly the most perfectly timed tackle. It is it is absolutely inch perfect. It's it's sort of a match defining tackle, isn't it? It's like you have made the ideal challenge at the ideal time. It's precise. It's pinpoint. It's exact and you have executed it to perfection and suddenly you've conceded a penalty. West Ham are losing 1 nil to Queens Park Rangers at home and they have been robbed. They should not be one nil down. They should not conceded a penalty. >> We're going sort of off subject again here. We are going to go to the phone lines very quickly. By the way, you know, when a referee goes into his office at Halime, they got TV monitors in there and sees that. Does he just make a beline for Nuno and just apologize straight away? I just I've got that so wrong. What do you do? >> CUZ HE'S GOT IT. OH MY GOD, I'M SEEING IT AGAIN. SO BAD. >> The problem is though, you know, when you um you know, I've had the misfortune of listening to Mike Dean talking about football. I've listened to him on podcast and you suddenly think, >> no, they don't do that. They don't apologize. They don't seem to have any kind of >> very egotistic. very good. >> Like Mike Dean has just undermined refereeing. He's set it back decades. Like it's appalling the way that he's conducted himself playing little games with himself to not give away free kicks and whatever else. So no, I don't think there'll be any contrition if Mike Dean is a representation of referees, which I hope he isn't. >> All right, we're going to quickly go to the phone lines. Before that, though, um obviously Spurs take on Man United. Our very own big Spurs fan is majestic. This is what you had to say about both sides. I've watched the Man United and I've watched Spurs for the last five games properly, right? And I actually think Manchester United are worse than Spurs. I know that sounds mad because we're bottom of the table. We haven't taken our chances, etc., but I actually look at Manchester United's team and feel there's more problems in it than Spurs. A lot of to do with Spurs' situation at the moment is not taking our chances and then letting other teams in. Michael, you know, like you said, your defensive line for a whole season to go for a season, including the fact that you got Champions League football, you know, and cup competitions. That's where the real real worry lies, right? He might have a point there, by the way. Although the table, they say, don't lie. Man United are 12 Spurs are rock bottom. Let's go to the phone lines. Broady, the Manchester United fan. Uh, Brody, confident about this game or or or big worries with Carrick. What are your thoughts? Oh, afternoon lads. How we doing? But um to be honest, I I can't see United losing. I think I think it's impossible. I don't see how we can go into this game with a three weeks off. We've had we had a bad start to the season, but we can't go into this game and not need three points. We need these three points more than anything. >> You've just made sure that you were going to be on the very best of talk sport. You know that. You know that it's impossible that Manchester United don't win this game. is going to be clipped up as Tottenham score their third in front of the Stretford end. >> Right. When are you lads back on? I will ring up and give you an apology. >> I I am on Sunday. You better ring up. You better ring up on You know what? Someone get his number. Get his number down. I'm going to call him my I'm going to call you personally myself. Are you not worried though? Are you not worried? >> Impossible. >> Are you not worried though with your squad when you look at it? And we we were just having a conversation. I don't know if you heard it about Marcus Rashford and I was like he's got away with it so far. He's come back and he's done very very little on that left hand side. >> Rashford can go. Rashford can go for me. I I haven't been a fan of Rashford for when he was at United before when he's gone away. I haven't been a fan of I don't think he's done anything. What it what has he actually achieved? He's been like, was it Rory said it earlier? He's he's been Anthony Gordon's took him over for England. He's took him over for Barcelona. He's just not the player what all these Man United fans craze about and I don't get the hype around him to be honest. >> Yeah, I'm I'm completely with you. Broady, where where do you sit on the Michael Carrick debate? Obviously, what he did last year was sensational. He got Manchester United into the champion. >> It's too early to say. What I've seen this season, if it carries on, he can go for me, but from what I saw last season, he deserves at least a year with this team. We haven't been backed this summer at all. So, sort of got to feel sorry for him there. But Rory said earlier about like the Hull players versus the Man United players, >> they're a completely different kettle of fish. So in that in that sense, how are we losing to Hull? Is that is that his tactics? Is that the players? Have they not fit enough? Is that have he not fit enough due to our training? It's you don't know. But it's a hard one with Carrick after last season. You've got to give him a bit of a chance. We're only six games in. >> Yeah. Cheers, Broady. Appreciate the call. Thank you very much. Um Rashford seems to be I think everyone is in unison about Marcus Rashford and whether or not they want him at the club. I think, you know, because he wanted out >> um and he's not got his wish. Like, let's be honest, he wants to be at Barcelona. >> Yeah. >> And and we all thought we got it wrong or Barcelona got it wrong when they got Anthony Gordon. We all kind of said, "What are they doing?" >> Anthony Gordon, we weren't wrong at the time. It's just we couldn't tell that Anthony Gordon was going to elevate his performances, was going to become this undropable superstar for both club and country. Like, I've I've been wrong about an awful lot of things in football, but I don't think I've ever been more wrong about Anthony Gordon. And by the way, I'm reall
