for show. James Sandra and Michael Bridge. Hello. Welcome along. You're right. >> Afternoon. >> Okay, they're with me as we discuss. Yeah, really well. Thanks. >> Uh they discuss all the latest trends with news with just four days I think we're on. Four days to go until that window slam shut. I'll be looking at Spurs who are working hard to approve Thomas Frank's squad before Monday's deadline. [Music] Mark Gay starts for Palace in their Conference League qualifying playoff against Frederick's dad. We'll have the latest on his future. Oh, and after another abysmal night for Rangers, we'll ask if there are any positives to be found for Russell Martin and his side when it comes to the market. But look, I guess we have to start with Manchester United less than 24 hours after that humiliating cup defeat to Grimby. Andre Nana took a fair bit of criticism for his part in the defeat with United remaining in talks with Royal Answer up over the signing of Senna Lamens. Now James, United fans will be asking can their problems be solved by buying a goalkeeper? I'm guessing the answer might not be yes. >> Well, they can't serve all their options but their issues by by signing a goalkeeper. But when you look at the goals they've conceded, there have been three matches of the season. Three of the goals could have been prevented if they had a goalkeeper in there that wasn't making mistakes. And Andre Nana and outside Bahindia have made a number of errors for Manchester United. Andre Nana has over the course of the the two years he's been at the club and with the two goals yesterday. And and Bahindia doesn't look quite right when it comes to balls coming to the box either via crosses or or set pieces. But the thing is for Manchester United, there's a number of issues there. But you can't solve every single issue you have in one transfer window. you have to prioritize and and what United have done it in this transfer window is they prioritized >> sorting out their front line which they've done signing a striker and two wide players as well. They'd like to sign a center midfielder and a goalkeeper, but you're so heavily restricted when it comes to profit and sustainability. And unfortunately for Manchester United, they've not been very good at selling players. If they were able to sanction departures for the likes of Rasmus Hland, Jadden Sancho, Anthony, but get really good money for these players and they would be in a really good position in the final few days of this window where they could go right we know we need a goalkeeper. Let's go and get the best one in the world. Let's go and get Donnaruma. Everyone in the world want to sign him. But you because United can't sell well at this moment in time. They can't attack the final days of this transfer window because they'd leave themselves in a situation whereby to comply with PSR, they don't sell these players and get good money. They'd have to then try to sell them in January where clubs know they're desperate to sell them. They wouldn't be able to buy players in January or they'd have to try and sell them before the 30th of June next summer where clubs know they're absolutely desperate to get rid of them to avoid breaching profit and sustainability rules. We know they remain in talks with Royal Antwerp around the signing of Sen Lman, but he wouldn't immediately come in and be United's number one. That's not our understanding. He's 23 years of age. He's a goalkeeper that Amar's admired for a long period of time. He's looked at him since he was a sporting in fact, but he's been seen as somebody that can come and compete for the number one jersey. I think if you ask Manchester United fans this game against Burnley this weekend, they'd want Tom Heaton to starting goal. If you did a poll right now, they'd want Tom Heaton starting goal. That's how little confidence they have in the goalkeepers they have there right now. But in terms of United going after somebody who's going to come in and be a number one straight away, unfortunately at this moment in time, it looks that is going to be pretty much impossible for them to do before Monday night. Yeah, and as James was stressing there, it's only like four days left in this window. So, tough times in the market at the moment. >> Yeah, but I mean, for the last few weeks, we've been saying Manchester United fans should be happy. They got a new front three, you know, Benjamin Chesco, Brian Bumu, Matias, Kuna, Kuna and Bumo are part of the US tour. They're not exactly new new anymore. They've been part of it for the last few weeks. So, >> I was just more alarmed by Amarim's comments postmatch >> about the squad and what you know, listening to him and he was so downbeat. I mean, he's he's done this before and he's obviously said last season it was the worst Man United side, but this is supposed to be a fresh start. I think what it does tell you is that if he's part of this that this is going to take a some time and as James mentioned that this is just only one other transfer window, you can only do so much. >> And okay, he said like they're not equipped for Europe this season. This is Manchester United Football Club for goodness sake. We're about to do the Champions League draw in an hour with five teams. Then you got Europa League Conference. Tonight have Man United in it. What on earth is going on? Now they're not in a they're not in the League Cup now. So there's a likelihood that they're going to play least amount of games than any team in the Premier League this season. >> There's really no excuses going forward. So it' be an interesting next few days. But on the on the front of it, they were happy with what they brought in so far, but clearly they need more. >> Yeah. Because not many managers will, you know, come in and then revamp everywhere and get, you know, build a whole new squad. You know, that's what he's doing. He's putting in players, you know, importantly in their places and like you say, built the front three. What about the midfield then? Because obviously there's lots of speculation about that. We've heard Kobe Mayu maybe leaving as well. I mean, what about Carlos Believer? Is there any chance that he could be coming in? >> I don't think so. There was always a feeling this was going to be a really difficult deal for Manchester United to do for a number of reasons. Some we've already stated in terms of United's position. Financially, the club are in a great position, but in terms of profit and sustainability, they need to comply with that. and having spent what they have this summer, they need to get in some money when it comes to player sales. And because they've been unable to do that, they've not been in a situation where they could realistically go to Brighton with an offer that Brighton would deem acceptable. And the other reason why Cars Labour wouldn't go to Manchester United is because Brighton Philly's not for sale. And we look at Brighton's outgoings over the course of the last few seasons. They've only sold players when it's been right for them, the player, >> and in terms of the money they're after. So Moyes Caro went for around 115 million pounds two years ago. So that's what you're sort of looking at. I'm not saying that's what they'd be looking for, but you could argue Carlos Ba is further ahead in his football development than Moyes Kaiseda was when he departed. Regardless, it's not going to be a cheap deal to do. And because United have had such a bad summer in terms of outgoing so far, things may change, but they've had those players who've been training on their own. That list of five players so far, only one of them has gone, Marcus Rashford. That's not even permanent. The good news, they're not paying his wages. But in terms of outgoings, the main outgoings in terms of revenue generated has been the sell-on clause for the likes of Anthony Alanganger going to Newcastle. It's not worked out for United. It's been a successful summer in terms of the players they bought in because they beat off competition for a number of clubs to get those three forwards, but unfortunately it seems unlikely they're going to be able to get a midfielder who is at the level required to go into that first team right now and make a difference. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. Well, look, uh, I think we're going to hear now from, uh, Fabian Herzler because I think he's pretty assured the Believer's going nowhere. >> Are you 100% confident that come September the second, Carlos Bleber will still be a Brighton player? >> Yes. If there's a number more than 100, I even would say more than 100. So, >> I'm confident. Yeah. >> Yeah. I guess there is no more than 100%, is there? But there we are. Look, uh, not long ago, these three players were seen as kind of the heartbeats of Manchester United's midfield. Rasm, Alejandra Garnacho, and Kobe Mayo as well. Uh, they could all now be heading out the door, which is potentially disappointing news, you'd have to say, for Manchester United at the moment. Why would they cons consider then, James, selling someone young, English, and talent here like Kobe Mayo? What is pretty sad that what felt like something that could have been an iconic image is going to be an image which clubs use and fans use to have a go at Manchester United in terms of look at these players look what they thought they were going to do and look what they've gone on to do in terms of why they'd look to sell Kobenu he's clearly not integral as the first team right now he doesn't have a natural place in Ruben Aaron system playing whilst Bruno Fernandez is there and he would represent pure profit when it comes to profit and sustainability and I've mentioned the fact that United don't seem to sell well this would represent pure profit from that point of view. But what was interesting was Ruben Aaron spoke yesterday and he said, "I believe in Kobe Mayu more than everybody else thinks, but it's important that he fights for his place in the team. He started yesterday, played the full game. A number of clubs in the Premier League and in Europe are interested in signing him. At this moment in time, United aren't really open to letting him go, but of course, if a suitable offer comes in, they would definitely consider that right now because of the situation they're in. We've been told that he's not agitating for a move right now. That's our information. >> But it's a really difficult one because for Manchester United, the academy is such a huge part of the club. It's the club and the fan base have such a strong affection and affinity with the club academy and United always have an academy graduate playing in the first team. Since 1937, it's a one of more than 4,000 games. They've always had an academy graduate in the match day squad. If Kacho goes, which we think he will, if Kobe Mayu goes, I'm not sure whether he will or not, but that would represent a real shift because United would then be in a situation where they'd be struggling to field a match day squad with an academy graduate in it. That's not saying that's why you should keep Kobe Mayu, but when you look at what he did when he burst onto the scene at United, it does feel sad that he doesn't feel like there's a natural fit for him in that system. It doesn't look like he's the sort of player to play alongside Bruno Fernandez, neither does Casemiro really. And that that is why they're in a situation now where they're they're scratching their head. They signed Manuel Agatti last summer and that was felt like this is going to be the person that can really help United from a defensive midfield point of view. You look at him last night against Grimsy. Grimby went off at Halime. He wasn't great against Arsenal. Wasn't brilliant when he came off the bench against Fulham. Some of these signings, you think they're going to be >> certain successes, but they haven't been. And that's why United are in a situation right now where where things don't look as good as perhaps they should do. >> No, I think it's really sad. And like I say, it's a World Cup year, so you think he's going to want to be playing football, isn't he? He's not going to want to come on as a sub. All right, let's uh turn our attention to Thomas Frank then. He continues to look for ways to strengthen his squad. What's the latest on Javi Simons, then? >> Well, I mean, over the last few months, we've been talking about him potentially going to Chelsea and then all of a sudden we know that Chelsea need to sell players. They have other targets as well, and their key target being Alejandro Garnacho. And then information we got yesterday that it was interesting Javi Simmons. Uh and then our understanding today that he is in London and uh his t his club RB Leipzig have given him permission to miss training to negotiate and move away. So it sounds like they're on good terms with the player. He's only 22 years of age. We know that Spurs are looking for a number 10. You don't need Columbomo to tell you that. We know what Tottenham are looking for. We we've been saying it weeks after weeks. They want a number 10. They want a left winger. Ideally, maybe a central defender as well. Whether it's Shabby Simmons, we will wait and see. I tell you what though, Monday could be very busy at Tom Noter. >> Yeah, I think it will be. Um I like the fact that you mentioned Columbbo, one for the young uh viewers amongst us. Uh look, they will be gutted though. The problem is that obviously Spurs fans have been a little bit disappointed of what's happened in recent terms. Ez um so you they want to get one over the line. They'll be desperate to get this one over the line. >> Yeah. Perhaps that's why there's some apprehension at the moment in terms of >> where we are with this deal at the moment. Look, we do know there is interesting. There are reports that there's been a bid, >> okay? >> But we will wait and see on that. Now, look, he's a very, very good player. He's 22 years of age. He ticks a lot of boxes, but >> again, a week ago today, very public as a go to Arsenal, not Spurs. Morgan gives white so public in an ideal but unfortunately these are big transfers big clubs involved this is going to be public but look we know what Spurs want there's also a number of players that haven't been brought out onto online where where there's been names mentioned that haven't haven't gone out publicly yet as well so if someone said to me will Spurs bring in another team I was like yes it just depends who that player is because that's the key position they need the Champions League draw so exciting in an hour's time and he's Thomas Frank's made a great start, but they must improve that squad. They must improve that 11 because when Europe kicks in, >> not just Tottenham, all clubs, every single club in Europe this season, it's tough. >> Is that your impassion plea to Daniel Ley there? >> No, no, >> but it just sounded a little bit like that. But anyway, I'm not casting aspersions. Uh, let's go to Chelsea now because they obviously need to sell. That's what it's been all about. Pairing down this squad still. Christopher and Kungu on his way. Yes, >> it looks like he is finally they found a club for him and he's found a new destination because we know that Chelsea and Christopher Kungu were looking for a permanent deal in this window. There was interest from RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich who had a loan bid. They wanted to try and do a loan. Chelsea weren't interested in that. So AC Milan have agreed a deal now to sign him from Chelsea. The total amount this transfer is looking like around 36 million. Chelsea had valued him at around43 million pounds in this transfer window. But this is what happens towards the end of a window when clubs know you you want to sell. There has to be a compromise on fee. So AC Milan will feel they've got a good deal. Chelsea will probably feel like they've got a good deal as well for a player who had plenty of promise when he came to Chelsea. But things didn't work out because he had that injury under Mishio Pochettino. Then he came back from injury. Enza came in and of course no one could have predicted just how good Cole Palmer's been and that's the position that that Christopher Kungu plays on the pitch. So it and Jao Pedro coming in as well means his first team opportunities very limited, but he's won a conference league. He's a he's a world champion at Chelsea, but it looks like he's got going to a club where he'll get more opportunities and be able to get back to his very best because we know just how good he can be. >> So if he goes, will he be able to buy or does Nicholas Jackson have to go as well to >> Well, I think I think if Jackson departs for the sort of money that Chelsea are looking at, then they'll be in a really good position to attack the final few days of this window and get in two players they're really keen to sign. Javi Simmons, they're after Alejandro Ganacho. We understand that Chelsea are close to an agreement with Manchester United for Ganacho. We know United wanted something like 50 million pounds. It doesn't look like they're going to get anywhere near that because of the compromises that they're going to have to make when it comes to player sale. Barcelona's Ferman Lopez also a long-term player of interest for Chelsea. If they do manage to sell those two players in Kungu and Jackson for something like 70 million pounds, then of course I think they could get these deals done. But really important to restate the fact that with the guidance they've had from UEFA because they got fined earlier on this summer, they need to comply with different restrictions. They need to make sure they come out of this transfer window in profit. They've made around 280 million pounds in terms of player sales, but they spent a huge amount as well. But they need to be really careful and I'm sure they are very careful. They know exactly what they need to do between now and Monday night to ensure they are compliant >> and they just look so impressive as well with all their youngsters with Estavo as well. Oh goodness me. Anyway, I digress. Uh West Ham, they don't look so good at the moment. They have had a pretty shocking start to the season, but they could be on the verge of midfield reinforcements. Uh Matteas Fernandez, what do we know about this situation? >> I'll talk about Matt Fernandez shortly because we have some breaking news on West Ham United. Yeah, Sangu Magasa is currently undergoing his West Ham United medical. Just got this information in. West Ham have agreed a 17.3 million deal with Monaco for the France under21 midfielder. Now, we've been saying all summer of that West Ham looking to bring a couple of midfielders in, >> but Sanguito Magasa currently undergoing his West Ham medical of around 17.3 million. So, it's been a tough first few weeks of West Ham. A little bit of good news. >> Okay, so where are we with this one then, Fernandez? >> Well, they might Well, you might have bumped into Masterass because he's having his medical stay as well. I'm sure he has. >> So, you never know. He might be shaking hands. There might be even a double media video. Who knows? I'm doing my Stam media job for him. It'd be a great one. But look, they've agreed a deal of worth£42 million for the Southampton midfielder. We've said over the last few weeks that feels like months, feels like years this window. >> Yeah. But we've said that these that West Ham looking to strengthen midfield. We know it's been a tough first few weeks for them. It was really tough and unsavory at times against Chelsea. Then there was the Jared Bowen inc. I mean you have a pop of Jared Bowen. It's unbelievable. But look, it hopefully for West Ham a bit of positive news going forward over the next few days. Of course, they they need it. >> Yeah, they do. And they say you can't have a pop at Jerobone and he is Mr. West Ham. Okay. Uh let's talk about Crystal Palace then
