Okay, Joe, huge game tonight. Man United against the mighty Tottenham Hotspur. Two struggling sides, I have to say, is the fixture that separates us both. And of course, a repeat of that epic cup final in Bill Ba where we were victorious. Joseph, I always have to get that in. Um, we usually do a combined 11 at this stage, but we've mixed it up a bit. >> Yeah, we mix it up today because both teams are struggling at the start of this season. Both teams are facing some pretty big problems. So today we're going to assess both teams problems and decide who's got the bigger issue in a certain category. So we're going to present a category to you two. You're going to dissect it and tell us which club you think is facing the bigger problem in that area. If there's a disagreement, Boo is going to have the deciding vote as the supposed neutral in the room. Although after what we've just seen when my mom will be >> my mom just text me saying is there a puncher [laughter] not >> me and Booie remain acquaintance. >> But Boovie will have the deciding vote here. So let's start with the ownership. Much made of both clubs owners. Obviously some changes in the structure behind the scenes at Tottenham last season and in the summer. Manchester United much publicized. We just spoke about it then. So who's got the bigger problem, Man United or Spurs with the ownership? >> I think categorically it's Man United. I think the biggest problem at Man United is the ownership. Both the Glazers and Inos. Um if I was a Man Man United fan, that would be the thing that concerns me. Not Carrick, not the players, not even the recruitment, although I think it was underwhelming in the summer and you probably should have done more. Um yeah, I think hands down categorically Inos is the biggest issue and then Glazers they play a kind of well Glazes have played a blinder because they've just come% >> they got mask >> they got a mask and yeah and so >> and actually the ownership at Tottenham has been has shifted obviously Daniel Ley's left the football club the children of Joe Lewis have come in and took over and there was rumors that the club was up for sale and they said no we're staying and we're going to change the way the club operates. And to their credit, I know we're bottom of the league currently. >> I was going to ask you on that as a Spurs fan because there has been a change in a lot, especially look at the amount of money that has been spent in the transfer window. What is your take now as a Tottenham fan on the ownership? Because the manager has been backed, hasn't he this summer? >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's what we've been calling for for for years is to back the manager, back Kante, back Mourinho. You look at the transfer windows under those two managers in particular, and it's no wonder that we went backwards. The reliance over reliance on Sun and Kane was just evident for for many years. And so something had to shift. I don't think it would have happened with Daniel Levy at the football club. I think he the way he operates would is completely different to the way the Lewis family have decided to operate and um so yeah it's been aggressive who doesn't want us to break you know every club owners of every fans of every club want to break transfer records when they can and we did it twice in a week. >> It was ambitious. It's not worked yet but it will. >> Flex ownership flabs 100% spot on if I'm honest. There's not really much to add. I know Booie thinks that the Manchester United fans all of a sudden aren't against the Manchester United ownership, but he's he's wrong. Um is it is [laughter] it is the biggest problem at Manchester United, which is why many fans all fans voice their frustration at the ownership. Um there is deep rooted problems at Manchester United that have existed for many many years on this ownership. I don't think there's much to add Manchester United. >> Okay. So you you're agreeing that ownership goes with Manchester United. I'll do the placement as we move on to the next category which is manager. This is very interesting because I think both managers got issues. I think wi with with Derby, he has a clear style of play. He wants to play aggressively. He wants to play on the front foot. He wants his team to have the ball pass out from the back, etc., etc. Michael Carrick doesn't really have that type of identity. And as a manager deserve, he's more experienced. He's got more under his belt. Um, but he's combustible. And I don't I I do think that he's at a club that potentially they've they've invested a lot of money and thrown a lot of money in sheer desperation for him to be there. Excessive money that I think Spurs fans will probably be in a situation of like even if this keeps getting bad, we have to keep staying with this because we've invested so much to it either through transfer fees and his actual personal contract. >> Shaking your head throughout that. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean uh this idea that he's combustible, I think goes down to the fact that he might run up and down the touch line a little bit when we score. It's he's never combusted at any football club he's ever been to. He had >> did towards the end of Brighton. >> No, he had he had a disagreement of of um direction where Brighton are always going to do the way they the thing they did. He didn't walk away and go, I can't work with these guys anymore. They said we're moving in separate directions. >> Yeah. Now he's at Spurs, so that's very likely to happen. >> But it's not combusted. No, no, it's not. It's not. >> Conte did it. But there's there's this there's this thing that's followed him around. It's just he's unfair that he's combustible. He hasn't shown it that at all. Apart from >> there's a thing I think there's this thing around him where he's really overrated. >> I think personally >> I mean the fact that Carrick has got the Man United job it shows you what over being overrated is. He did what is it? He sort of failed at Burough and then got >> did okay and then did not. >> To be fair to Carrick you know since January he I think has won the third most points in the league. >> So why is he under pressure >> as City? He's under pressure because like you said results results aren't good enough and there's a lot wrong at Manchester United that actually goes way above Michael Carrick's head. Did I listen Ire and I didn't actually to be fair when I was talking about deserving I didn't actually get to Carrick yet to be fair. That's why I'm saying I do I know what where you're probably going to go on this. I just think it is a lot closer than just obviously it's Michael Carrot because he's inexperienced and Manchester United struggling like Deserby has this that's what I was talking about this sort of bubble wrap around him that's like no he is very good and he's this and he's that and he will deliver this and he will deliver that and I'm like well we've looked at Spurs and we've looked at the evidence and the evidence would suggest that this is [laughter] the five Premier League games. Yeah, I'd say to that >> and that's what we're looking at Michael Carrick to say he's doing really poorly to say >> yeah to you saying to be fair to car to be fair to deserve as well is there an argument that says it is early on and there is a lot of new players and a lot of them haven't been fit and have been injuries which we'll come on to talk about. So it I feel like it's quite early on to judge in the deserve and he's clearly a top manager. >> He's absolutely not under pressure but like I said >> oh he's under pressure. >> Of course he's under pressure but this this is what I'm saying. I keep saying as a Spurs fan who's watched as a Spurs fan who's watched every minute of us play that there is definitely we're moving in the right direction. Results haven't come. >> So I will tell you if I feel that he's under pressure all fans of all the other football clubs are it's telling me he's under pressure. >> I'll let I'll let you know [laughter] a couple of weeks ago cuz I agree smashed by just nonsense. >> The keeper got out of the match. >> It's just nonsense. Booby, you're the only [laughter] in the room. Booby, you're gonna have to settle this. They're not going to >> If I had to pick one right now, it' be Michael Carrick for a bit of stability, but I think they're both under massive pressure. 100%. >> Who has the bigger >> pressure from who though? Where does the pressure come from? >> You can't say there's no pressure. The amount of pressure is when I understand where we are in the league, right? [clears throat] We all look at the same every day, [laughter] but where does the pressure from a manager to leave come from? It comes from the It comes from the fan base and it comes from the ownership. the ownership have come out and went he is there is no issue here we backed him we understand our recruitment we understand the trai um the transition we're in the fan base are going we're behind you so the only people that think he's under pressure is fans of other >> so will you be saying that two games irrelevant so so but what I'm saying is I think there's this thing from Spurs fans that's like if you keep losing that doesn't change like if you if you lose today and you don't beat Tottenham playing at home we know what happens Frank Lampard's already gone to the forest for the city ground and won so if he comes to Tottenham and wins and you get beat off Michael Carrick. You expect me to sit here and listen to a Tottenham fan saying there's no pressure? >> Yeah, but that's you're talking about two games that haven't happened. You can't say >> no Michael Carrick what he did against Arteta beaten him last season. Guardiola he beat last season. I think it's a bit more about carrot right now than deserving. >> So in terms of bigger problems where you stick it in the biggest problem is Tottenham's manager 100% deserving >> I do think it's close by the way. It's not it's very close but you don't even think it's close. >> The only thing I say you think it's not even close. >> It's not close. I'm also a Tottenham fan. I do I do agree with what you're saying from the Tottenham fan base. These guys have actually both [laughter] are playing well, but you're pressureing you out now AS WELL. [laughter] BOTH OF US I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY LIKE Rory would say, I think this is like the least controversial thing ever said in football. I understand that Spurs are playing well and should be the points don't actually reflect the performances, but guess what? If you have another three more games like this and you and it's exactly the same and you're bottom of the league, guess what? There's pressure. >> Let's move on to the squad. Then we'll move on. [laughter] That's crazy. >> Next category. Who has the bigger issues given up? >> Squad. Now I feel Joe and I were were doing this earlier. We think that squad is quite tight to be fair. If you do combine, we've done combined 11s, Man United Spurs before it's quite similar. There's >> Where do you both stand now on the squad? >> Cuz there's been a lot of investment in recent years for both. Yeah. So, it's going to take time. The transition we're you're genuinely in a transitional period and rebuilding the squad doesn't always go swimmingly. >> Um, I think the recruitment on paper, I mean, you you wanted two of the players we bought. So, the fact that you down >> we're going to come on to recruitment in a bit. That's the latest category. So, let's focus on the squad you want. >> Talia, you're going to talk about [laughter] >> who would you say for squad? Who's got the biggest? >> I'd rather take my United squad every day of the week. Bruno Fernandez. Cesco is obviously a far better striker right now than Saleni or or or whoever else. Um I like the Mayo. I like I like the center backs when they're fit. Delix still a great center back. I know he's injured and they got a better keeper as well in Lammonds. I think the entire squad's basically better than Tottenham. >> Don't like the center backs Tottenham. >> Uh I I don't mind them of course not. But this but I do actually rate I rate Delict a little bit as well. I like Lenny Yori. He's got a bright future and I like a lot about what Man United have built. Is it enough to win the title? I don't think it is. They should have signed that you know Lewis Hall for example. But but Bruno Fernandez, Kuna, Cesco, and Buo, they'd all start for Tottenham right now. >> Okay. So, bigger problem you're saying is >> Tottenham, I'd say. >> Okay. Okay. Stick it up. >> I agree. I I agree with that with squad for what it's worth. >> Uh, next one I think is what you were speaking about just a second ago, Flav transfers. >> Transfers. >> Yeah, bigger problem when it comes to transfer, would you say? >> I think look, we've just we invested huge amounts of money completely revamping the squad. Um, generally during a transfer market, you're ranked you're rated on how much you've spent and how, you know, effective you've been in in the transfer market. And on paper, I was really excited. I I actually said uh I predicted I shouldn't say this, but I predicted we might finish second. [laughter] >> Did you? Season's early and there's no pressure, so you'll be fine. >> But we just signed and Fernandez and broke our transfer record. I I got carried away. All right. [laughter] I did in in a big big way. Right. It could still happen. It could still happen, right? Um but yeah, we for the first time in a long time we we were buying players that previously we wouldn't have even been in the conversation for. Manchester [clears throat] United were linked to both Tenali and Fernandez along with other clubs and through Spurs's aggression and ambition and through deserby managing to speak to Sali and convincing to come that we're operating in a different level. We got a lot of work to do. We got to spend a lot more money to get anywhere near what Man United and and and Man City have spent and Chelsea, you know, they've spent on certain like big big transfers dwarfs what Spurs have done. >> So, it's going to it's going to take time, but I'm I'm confident if we carry on in this this for this this level of aggression. >> It's an interesting point that that Flav makes there because it years gone by, you know, if a Man United player came in for a Tottenham player, you know, we'd see them gone. You look at Michael Carrick Berbbert, Teddy Shane, there's a whole host of players that have left Tottenham for Man United. They were linked quite heavily with the same Fernandez. Absolutely. >> Matteas Fernandez was won heavily and I spoke to him at the start of the season. >> Fernand double relegated. >> He was a [laughter] player that was a very broken player. >> He was a player linked with both is my point obviously and he he said to us that deserve was a big factor in him choosing Tottenham. So where do you stand on the transfer situation between the two clubs currently? Uh I I think I I agree with Flav with what he's saying and with a lot of what he's saying and transfers has been a big problem for Manchester United because I I think we've had a poor window. I think with what was needed to come into Manchester United this summer and what we were all expecting, I think it was well below par. We could talk about finances and the reason why and you know Inos will tell us why, but as a fan when you look at the squad and you think what should have came in versus what did I think it's left us really really short. Um, so I would say that Man United got a bigger problem with transfers at the moment just based off the last window, but historically as we've seen with Spurs and their squad building, Manchester United still got better squad because of the recent we've done squad. >> So but but because of sorry because of more recent transfers. So like the window before when we got Kuna and Bumo Cesco like that's why we're better than you now on paper. So it is a bit of a mixed bag. I'm honest with you. Just because I'm still annoyed at my last window and they shifted strategy and went really really big and changed the changed the narrative. I'm going to put us just below you. >> That's fine. So you think United have the better squad for Spurs? >> No, they needed but you would agree with that. >> No, I thought you were going to say Tottenham. Even Tielemans maybe not as ambitious and signing Tielemans and then someone else like an Elliot Anderson or a Lewis Hall. But still the signs great. >> No, he is. Do you know what it is the midfielder? I'm It's okay. Andre Santos, I'm I'm still not sure, but the two in terms of Tielemans and Ble, but they've neglected the whole rest of the >> Too slow. They're good signing. Like there's no there's no defender in there. There's no other forward in like it's it's poor this year. And I think I'm probably going off the recency bias of this summer was so underwhelming and such a big shift from yourselves that I am going to go off the recency bias. >> Okay, next one is injuries. >> Oh mate, >> we've got our fair share of injuries. Um even now we do and you know it has been a massive problem for you know you speak about Dit I know you like Kim Bouvy he's been injured for you know the whole year look at Mason Mount since he's coming in Lisandra Martinez can't stay Cesco so we are under it's been out for a long time however >> Spurs is a is a different different level I mean I pass it on to you I don't think we've ever seen the type of serious nature injury so consistently >> where we've had ACLS we've had muscle injuries no team had more player that days out for players injured than Spurs last year. Um it's been the case since possibly first season. You remember that Chelsea game where we we was [snorts] we went we lost you know Madison two red cards. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. and that that was kind of like set the scene and I think that's really hamstrung Spurs over the over the the next couple next couple of years and so they've completely reviewed everything at the football club this year and you can see they're actually managing minutes you know players that deserve perhaps wanted to keep on the pitch he's removing because >> we just cannot put yourself in a situ you can't legislate for the injuries doesn't matter how much money you spent or how good your squad is >> it gets exposed when you lose two or three big players and you it doesn't matter who you are um So hopefully whatever work the club have done this year this summer um and you know the work they're doing with the Zerbian understanding minutes and fatigue and muscle fatigue and all these things is going to have a impact because we can't go on like >> no I think that's the point as well we've often done these comparisons where [clears throat] you look at players out for a game if you look at actually we've got the list now Tottenham and Man United there's a similar number of players out for both games the difference is a lot of Man United are minor not could play some of Spurses are ACL whole season when you look at Oddair out ACL you look Jav Simmons out for the whole season. Been out for a whole season. Madison's been out for a whole season. It's the length and extremity [clears throat] have had and you know how look how difficult it's been trying to get Madison on the pitch. Even though he's been fit to play, he just keeps people >> he's got more injuries. >> Tiny tiny injuries. Derby said that he he could potentially play against Manchester United, but he's not going to start. The level of the Premier League is is at a stage where you can't give him 90 minutes and and he he was huge for us. >> So injuries. So this one's clearly Spurs >> and it's massively hindered them out. As much as we make fun of Spurs back to back 17th, I don't think they would have been anywhere near those positions had they had all their players fit. >> Okay, last category then we've got is mental
