GUESS THE FOOTBALLER with Brentford's Keane Lewis-Potter & Damien Duff | Pick The Pro
Damien Duff and Keane Lewis-Potter take on Pick the Pro at Brentford
Two guests watch five players go through dribbling, 2v2, volleys and a five-ball challenge, eliminating one after each round before guessing the real professional. They picked No.4, but the real professional was No.3, and they admitted the line-up was hard to judge.
- No.2 is not the real professional — He judged by his legs, saying they were not well defined, and a poor finish later convinced him even more.
- No.3 is not a professional footballer — Despite good technique and hip movement, he could picture him playing five-a-side with mates; baggy tracksuit bottoms reminded him of the 1980s.
- No.4 looks most like the real professional and I would bet my house on him — He looks the part, with the physique and presence of a professional, even a male model.
- Going into the sauna the night before a game is something I personally would not do — With a quick turnaround to the match, you need to stay hydrated.
- Good volleying alone does not prove someone is a professional — You can find plenty of people in the street who can volley the ball well, so it would not sway him.
- Professional footballers move differently, which is why he leans towards No.4 — He watched the footwork and movement in the five-ball challenge and felt No.4 looked more like a pro in those details.
- It is almost impossible to tell semi-pros and pros apart in these drills — The players are close in ability; the real difference would show in actual 5v5 games through communication and movement.
- The line-up was hard to judge, all the players had good ability, and we got the player wrong — The drills did not create a clear gap, and No.4 turned out not to be the real professional.

Yo, what's good people? We're down at Brenford thanks to EA Sports FC to see if Damen Duff and Keane Lewis Potter can guess which of these five players is the real professional. The lads will put on a series of drills and after each drill they'll eliminate one player until they're left with the player they think the real professional is. Okay, lads. The first drill is the dribble challenge. Yeah. So, we're going to ask the player to dribble through the cone and get a shot off obviously hopefully on target. So, Keen, this is your EA item with your dribbling at 78. You happy with that? >> No. No. Not good enough at all. >> What do you think it should be? >> Bump up to 82, 83. >> Four or five of them should be in the 80s. I'm not sure who the people are that put these together, but they're ridiculous. >> Fair enough. See, you need this is why you're here. So, the players are going to introduce themselves. They're going to have two attempts to, you know, impress you, get a shot off after we can ask a few questions. >> Yeah, >> perfect. Let's go. >> Player number one, >> Charlie, left back. >> All decent. Okay, left knee. >> Ooh, he's cleared the net. Damon does not look happy. What What were we making of that attempt? >> Not by dribbling. Pitch is sticky. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. They didn't water it. Yeah. Yeah, not bad. If it was you doing it, I wouldn't be happy. [laughter] >> He has [music] decent technique. Small little touches here. I don't know how warm he is, but uh he's going to 50% there for me. We'll see how he goes in the second rep. >> Okay, control. Oh, he's hold it. >> Oo, that's better. >> Good finish. >> Good finish. >> Keeper. >> Keeper. >> Keeper could have done better. We need more from you, lad. Need more from you. But it was, you know, good second attempt. >> No, I don't mind that one. That was that was better. >> Yeah. Here, I think dribbling would be a big giveaway for the two of us. We're >> dribblers, I'd say. Um, >> I think it can be an awful lot smoother and quicker. >> Okay, player number two, >> Matt. Right back. >> He's gone fast. That's a good finish. >> It's a great finish. That is a good finish. You impressed with that, Damian? >> Lovely finish. Yeah. Um >> here whether he's the professional footballer or not, I picked him out not to be. >> Why? Why not? >> How harsh you want me to be? >> You can be completely honest. >> Uh just by looking at his legs. >> His legs. >> Okay. Okay. So, >> no. Unfair. >> I'm going to apologize first of all. >> Watch what you say here, Kina. >> But Dam's guard. He's not got the most defined big legs. >> Okay. >> But when you watch him dribble compared to someone else, >> it's it makes it look easy. >> Oh, >> okay. That would The second one was a bit better. >> That finish. It wasn't >> tripped over the ball. >> Okay. But you made up for it. >> No, that's made me mind up a million%. He's >> Oh gosh. Oh gosh. Okay, let's go. Play number three. >> Darcy midfielder. >> He's got the truckies on. >> He's got the bright boots as well. We We liking the bright boots. Oh, he's doing a little step over. Oh, that would have been a finish. Well, I'm just guessing. >> He's got technique. >> I I mean, I'm not a player or an ex player, but that that was that seemed good to me. >> Little ball roll step over. >> That's nice. >> Yeah. Um, again, I've made my me up with think on him. Um, >> not feeling him. >> No, wonderful technique. Uh, wonderful shapes, hips. Um, but I can picture him down maybe a five aside a Astro on a Tuesday night and Thursday night playing with his mates. >> Again, call me harsh, but >> yeah, >> that's where I pitched in. second finish was >> it's like he's pinged the ball. >> It's like he's trying to spread the ball rather than shoot. >> But do you think maybe cuz he's trying to they're trying to impress you? >> Small little things can tell you a lot. Um the last time I saw a footballer with baggy tracks in box was in the 80s. So >> I don't think he's a professional footballer either. >> You're on to people. >> Fair enough. Now you could you could tell. Okay. Player number four >> looks the part >> George midfielder >> looks the part nice trim >> gone straight into it right skin all roll >> oh that's a nice finish that is >> it is a nice finish but I think it was a bit scuffed >> I said they all count though >> they do they all count >> I do think >> uh yeah he's got a chance he's either a professional footballer or a male model he looks the best [laughter] >> two good careers is to be honest. >> And again, not to go back to the legs thing, but I will. He's great legs. >> Great legs. >> No, it's good shape on. >> Okay, he's going again. Nice boots as well. >> Okay, the keeper's actually saved one. Love it if it >> see that that technique was better though. The strike >> although the first one went in. >> I'm put me house on four so far. >> Four. It's >> too Elliot. >> Okay, we got player number five. Frank fullback. Try to see your bottom is tight enough. [laughter] >> Ooh, safety. >> Safe. Very safe. >> Very safe. >> Can you build a tracksuit? Do you think it's like that's what players should be wearing in training? No, >> it's whatever you feel comfortable in each round. Uh, just saying I haven't seen baggy tracks in a long while. Oh, nice finish. That is a nice finish. >> Going back to it though. >> The finish was great. >> Yeah. >> Put the dribbling just slow >> slow. Yeah. >> Match pace. >> Yeah. >> Good to ask a question. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. Let's go. >> Okay. Let's ask player number one a question. >> Team do you play for? >> Uh Tamworth National League. >> Yeah. Who got relegated from the National League last year? I wasn't in the National League last year. >> You wasn't? >> No. >> This man town worth again? >> Uh Scottdale. >> Okay. >> Where's he from? >> Up north somewhere. >> Northern accent. >> What? >> Northern accent. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. That's that's it for number one. Let's go. Player number two. What we thinking? >> Same question again. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Who you play for? >> Uh Central Coast Mariners A League. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. that much >> should be my expertise. >> Expertise. >> Where do they play again? Remind me. >> Blue tongue. I like it, but it's Polytech now. >> Okay. So, a few different names. >> Polytech now. >> Okay. Not sure. [laughter] >> Who's the manager there? >> Um, it's now John Hutchton. >> And who was the last one? >> Warren Moon. >> And who won the league last year? Many questions my >> just won the A League last year. >> Jets got the Premiership, but Oakland got five. >> Were you in the uh the playoffs? >> No, >> didn't get good enough that Okay, that's it for that's it for the interrogation of player number two. Player number three, >> who do you play for? >> Play for St. Orbers now, but I was playing pro in Holland last season. >> So, go ahead, Eagles. >> Go ahead, Eagles. >> What city did I play from? >> Dentur. >> Where? Sorry. >> Dentur. >> Okay. >> It's about an hour from Amsterdam. >> How did you end up there? >> Uh, I'm half Dutch, so played in Holland. That's why. >> Well, I like your track bombs. I just >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Sorry. You probably see it. I was just commenting that they're usually football players. It's a bit more fit. That's >> Yeah, I'm living out a suitcase right now. I've only been in England for a couple of weeks. >> So am I. It's not nice, is it? >> No, it's not. No, >> that's my reason every day. >> Okay. Day number four. >> Toughest player you've come up against? >> When I was younger at youth level, Michael. So before he went to Reading, he was at Chelsea and he was just so much better than the level. >> That's a good answer. >> That is a great answer. got anything on that? >> Do you play down south? >> Came through at Rein did my scholar there. Then went to the states and played pro in Scotland. Peter head abandon when you were there. >> What? My age group. >> No, the first team manager. >> The first team. Well, it would have started as Brian McDerma. >> A great fell. Brian, he's a great fella. >> Yeah, he was the manager that got us up in um 12 13 then came back down. Aiman Dolan took over for a little bit when we went down. That's when the Yapstam era would have begun. Probably >> knowledge. >> Great knowledge. >> Is he a player or is he a fan? >> Well, was player number five. >> Who was the toughest player you uh played against? >> Julian Alvarez. Atéico. >> Julian Alvarez. >> How did you play and where? >> Um I actually played in the under 20's World Cup in 2019 and we played against Argentino. >> Okay. So now the decision got to eliminate one player. I >> feel awful. >> No, it's fine. They know what's coming. >> Probably best off the football. >> Everything. >> All got good answers there. >> Yeah, the phone for yourself. Um >> I got two, but if you want to back me on it, otherwise we'll go back. >> Okay, >> I got number two. Sorry, buddy. >> Number two, you are eliminated. So, if you've played FC27, you'll know about the grounds and a 2v2 challenge. The first team will have to attack and have to score into the smallsided goals. The other two will have to defend and obviously stop them. Keen, you're a left back, but you do love bombing forward. So, what are you expecting to see from this >> in defense talking, communicating? [music] Um, really shouldn't be scoring unless it's an unbelievable piece of skill or play. So, yeah, looking forward to it. >> And Damian, what do you expect to see from him? I was going to say how aggressive can you be but obviously don't want them kicking each other on either I here it's not one particular thing sometimes the eyes don't lie so you just go yeah he is or he isn't let's get into it quiet that was quick >> think who was better there or who was worse defenders or the attackers >> didn't show much >> communicate >> no there's not much talking I've just noticed number one's not got waist in his boots I don't know. You play professional, put lace in boots, don't you? >> I mean, well, >> should do. I mean, you get the odd player who doesn't, but the only guy I've seen who don't play with lace is fat. >> Okay, >> but that's Fin. >> Okay, let's go. >> Oh, that's a good pass. Oh my gosh, he's missed the score. Got >> out. He's got score. >> I mean, he did say he's a defender. >> Yeah, he did. That's too loud. Do you guys want to see another attempt? >> Ah, yeah. >> Yeah, >> another attempt. Okay. >> All right. Let's go. Second attempt. >> Always change his run. >> Spotted the pass. He's made it. >> I don't mind that disguise. That was nice. >> Something you do. >> Try. >> Try. >> Let's see how he defends in this one. All right, let's go. >> Good talking. Try to beat him. Good defending from three. >> Oh, he's just missed the target. But he did get past him. Did get past him. What you saying? Don't look impressed. A >> bit surprised though cuz I was on to one, but the way he moves with I don't mind him. I don't mind him now. The way he moves with his with the ball. I thought after seeing three dribble through shooting, I thought I thought to see a bit more of him there, but bit quiet. >> Okay. Okay. Let's ask them another question. >> Okay. I love preparation for games and intrigued to see or hear how you would prep for a game. So, let's say there's a big game tomorrow at 3:00. Um, how would you get ready for it? >> I like to go in the sauna night before about 10:00. I would do about 5 minutes in the ice bath. Chill out. Don't really do anything on a Friday. >> Yeah. >> Uh, night before a game, food wise, it's not the same. I'm not like superstitious. I don't need one thing. Uh, morning off, wake up nice and early, have a coffee, flat white. >> Flat white. >> Flat white. And then about four hours before kickoff, have be some toast about 11:00. >> What time do you usually meet up for a 3:00 game? >> Meet time will be 1:00 for a 3:00 kickoff. If I'm getting treatment, I'll get there like past 12. >> That's specific. Okay, let's move on to player number three. >> Would you know any Dutch players in the league? >> In the Premier League? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Do you mean personally or? >> No, just know of. >> Yeah, I do. >> Have we got any? >> I'm not sure. >> Should he know? >> I think so. >> As a pro. >> I think so. >> As a pro. >> Should know. Yeah. >> Yeah. We'll go to number four. Move on. >> Who's the best gaffy you've played under? >> Good question. Um, the first season at Peterhead, guy called Jim Mali was my gaffer. I'd say he's the best in terms of a man manager I've had. Not best tactically. Um, but in terms of a manager that you want to play for. Probably my favorite. >> I've heard of them. Yeah. >> Okay. So, they're real. >> Player number five. >> Sorry. How old were you? >> I'm 27. >> So, you said you played for Mali. >> There many players in the Premier League from Mali. >> Uh, one I just signed for you guys actually, Sangaria. >> Do you like him? >> Great player. Top player. Yeah. played the other night. Did they win? >> Uh, they beat K Verde, I believe. >> I don't remember the result, but they did win. Yeah. >> Alvarez, what tournament was it? >> The under 20 World Cup in 2019. >> Where was it? >> In Poland. >> Poland. Fast answers. Okay, we've got to eliminate one more player. >> What are we thinking? >> Give me a choice of two and I'll choose the one. >> That's good. >> I'm going to go number three. The thing is number one said something which for me personally I would never do. >> What's that? >> That's going in the sauna the night before the game. Quick turn around to the game. >> You need to keep hydrated. >> Keep hydrated. Okay. >> One or three is it? >> Yeah. I'll go three. >> That was quick. Three. You are eliminated. >> So Keem, drill number three is the body challenge. So we've got Damian over there. He's going to be feeding the ball [music] into the net. So we obviously know your EFC 27 body rating. What do you reckon it is? >> 62. >> Oh, okay. Near around 64. >> I'll take that. >> It's not bad, is it? All right, cool. Let's see if the players have your technique. Player number one. >> Left footed is as well. >> Yeah, he is left footed, so it's going to be harder. Yeah. >> Oh, that's a good strike. >> That's a great strike. >> That is a good [music] strike. >> Kept it low as well. >> I'm not getting to see the volley cuz we're looking at this. >> Yeah. >> Oh, that's nice. Again, >> have to adjust a bit, man. >> Yeah. sometime soon. Yeah. >> You happy with these efforts? >> Left the left side is a bit harder anyway. >> It is tougher, but >> no, you don't know what I think is good. >> Good. Okay, play number four. >> Okay, so this is D's favorite. So, let's see if the the actual feed >> shows us that. >> Yeah. >> Good reaction from the keeper, but that was a solid strike though. He's >> got a bit. >> And the thing is, I feel like he got he got under it a little bit, but still good technique like you said. You have to adjust a bit there. >> He's even got the walk off of there as well. That's disappointing himself. Like head down. Oh, and he done the hair flick as well. Oh my gosh. He's got the whole ambiance. That was decent. That was decent. Okay, play number five. >> This is a big one, by the way. Big one. >> It is. That walked in. Look confident, bro. >> Yep. Lucky >> sliced it a little bit. It's gone to z. >> Okay, let's see what we pulled out of it. >> Over the net twice. >> My mind up. >> Yeah, man. >> Oh, no. Wait. Let's get Damian in just quickly. >> You must have the same thing right now. >> Obviously for them. >> You even won great strikes technique wise. Yeah, four had a bit of power in them as well here. It's not going to sway me. I'm sure if you walk down the street, you'd find plenty of people that are good at volume the ball. >> Okay. Okay. Let's go and ask them another question. Okay. So, let's whittle it down to our final two. We've got one question per player. So, let's start with number one. >> What's the worst injury you've ever had? >> Uh MCL. Went in for a tackle. Probably shouldn't have went in for. and like 7030 and just absolutely smashed it. Couldn't walk. >> How long were you injured for? >> Uh it was about 5 months. >> Surgery. >> Uh no. >> No surgery. >> No. >> Five months sound about right. >> Yeah. >> I think so. >> Okay. Let's go. Player number four. >> God rest his soul. But I heard so many great stories about Aean Dolan. Wonderful guy, etc. What made him so great and brilliant around the football club and on the pitch? it just how personable he was. Whether you were a first team player or at my age then I would have been probably 15 16 under a man you got treated with the same respect. Um he actually got my mom work at the club. He was just a people person. >> It's a good story. >> What age are you now? >> 24. >> 24. >> Okay. Final question for player number five. >> Sorry. Just cuz it's played a big part in my life. Uh the under 20 World Cup. Um I was lucky enough to play in it twice. It's wonderful. Who won it that year? >> Uh South Korea. >> And who knocked you out? >> We lost to Italy in the quarterfinals. >> In the quarterfinals. And who was in the games on the lead up to it? >> We beat Argentina on penalties in the >> beat them. >> Yeah. In the round of 16. Our group stage we had Panama, France, and Saudi Arabia. We finished second in our group. France finished top. >> Panama were in your group. >> Panama. Yeah. >> Yeah. What were they like? >> We drew them 1-1. They actually um very good. >> Okay, that is it. That is it for those questions. Now we've got to eliminate one player to get down to our final two. So, what are we thinking? But it's basing off the strikes and volleys. For me, I think one and four are safe. The sauna still isn't rattling you >> on then. >> Yep. So, we're going to eliminate number five. >> Number five. Thank you. But you are eliminated. >> Final round. This is the five ball challenge. Both players will get the opportunity to be an attacker and a defender. The attacker has to score as many goals as possible and the defender has to stop them scoring as many goals as possible. Player number four. Let's go. Oh, he's got one. >> He's trying to smash it through. >> Okay, he got one though. Expect some quicker steps or >> quick movement. Yeah, I think that's the only way you can beat the defender. But at the same time, he moved his feet quite well with defender. >> Yeah, I was just looking at number four. [laughter] I wasn't looking at number one. Yeah, I think he only scored one cuz he wasn't overly sharp moving from ball to ball. He kept running around the ball to get it on his stronger foot. >> Is there anything that number one can do to swear you? Cuz I know you're leaning towards number four. >> How he moves? I think professional footballers >> move different. >> All right, number one. Let's go. >> Oh, off the post. Oh, he's got one in. That was quick though. You asked for quick steps, he gave you quick steps. He's absolutely pelted one off in that third. >> Maybe to [laughter] maybe to rattle him a little bit. >> Yeah, he's definitely a left back anyway. That right foot in the comfort. >> We've got one more opportunity to ask them a question and then you've got to decide who you think the real professional is. >> We need a big question. Number four here. >> Can you talk me through your boots? Why you don't have any laces? >> I'm glad these have come up. I actually like love these boots. I've had them about two years now. Will refuse. I got given new ones this year. Went for one training session, hated them. Put them back in the box. But until they're flapping, they're staying with me. They work. They're like molded to me now. Don't see the point in changing them. >> If you are the professional footballer, what makes you different from the other guys? >> I don't think there's a lot in it. I think a lot of the boys play semi-provious. I thi
