Brilliant turnaround for Ipswich Town this afternoon at Portman Road as they secure their third Premier League win of the season. They were 1-0 down against Fulham after Ryan Sessegnon had put our our lower side into the lead, but then a brilliantly taken goal for the man you've just seen, Utaka, for his first Ipswich Town goal. Dara O'Shea with his first in nearly a year as well. And Ipswich Town move on to nine points in their opening six. That's their most in the Premier League since way back in 1993 1994. 2-1 winners for Ipswich Town today turning it right around at Portman Road. Next up for them, Manchester [clears throat] City away next Saturday for Fulham as they still search for their first league win. And then our lower head are home to Hull City in a week's time. Uh by the way, there was a late kickoff in League One and because there were problems getting the crowd into the Cledara Abbey Stadium, Cambridge United against Blackpool. But that game has now finished. Cambridge United one, Blackpool nil. And it was also full time now between Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday. That game was still going during the classifies, but Sheffield Wednesday come in 2-0 down to get an all important point in that game. We're going to be speaking to Jordan Henderson very shortly. We'll bring you also the tables from the Premier League, the EFL and beyond as well. Um Merse, they were out of the blocks so quickly Chelsea today. What What was the key to the fast start? Not just in the first half, but the second half as well. >> Well, it just It just did. It just come off, you know. It was a very good goal by Jordan Jordan Henderson. A really, really good goal. He bends it in the far corner. And when they were showing the highlights of that goal, they were breaking again. And then all of a sudden Morgan Rogers. So yeah, they started in the second half as well. So yeah, sometimes you get them start, sometimes you don't. And And they got them giving them that bit of confidence. They probably look back and think about keeping a clean sheet. Do you know, when you're cruising, you want to keep that clean sheet, but 5-1 you can't you know, you can't argue with that against you know, I thought was a tricky tricky game today against Bournemouth. I know Scott weren't playing, but they're a dangerous team. So, they'll be pleased. I think their their their chances of scoring were more than Chelsea's. They were more >> Really? Who's over there? Rap Z Nesbit. >> I don't know if someone's opening a can somewhere. Just pipe down. Just wait, boys, for goodness' sake. I know Bournemouth are going to play in a I don't know who was cracking open the can, but let's go back to playing. >> Let's go back to Rap Z Nesbit. There's been some real cultural references [laughter] throughout this afternoon. Rainbow to Rap Z Nesbit. Back to Chelsea and that 5-1 win against Bournemouth. That that will be the one the one black mark on this, but in terms of that wait for a clean sheet now stretches to 22 Premier League games. But overall, we're talking about teams Arsenal at times looking a little bit rusty after that 3-week hiatus to the season. Chelsea didn't though today, did they? Right from the very off. >> They put their chances away. They they scored some really really good goals, Chelsea. I'd like to see their xG. It probably wouldn't have been five, if I'm being honest. I think theirs was higher. >> [clears throat] >> They had better chances, Bournemouth, but their finishing was unbelievable. I mean, Jordan Henderson >> What sorry? >> 1.08 Chelsea's. >> Was it? Yeah. 1.08. They've some worldies, some worldies, you know. Jordan Henderson two unbelievable finishes. João Pedro as well, you know. So, yeah, there were some good goals. You know what? When you've got Henderson and Caicedo in there, they can just sit and they just get the other three and just go just get on with it. They shouldn't let in too many goals. They shouldn't let too many goals. They shouldn't be that open cuz you just got you got them two can hold in midfield and then you've got that three that are good as anything and then you've got Neto flying down one wing. You know, so for me, Chelsea will score goals. They will score goals. They will every week. They'll be very rarely they they don't score. I know they didn't score at Brentford the other week, but there won't be too many games this season. >> And with the return of Caicedo, you see that dynamic at the back beginning to change. Do we see evidence of that today? Because you've got not the defense out. >> You know, I thought they worked well together Caicedo and Henderson cuz they you know, Henderson's got the experience and Caicedo's you know, for me is the best holding midfield player in the world of football. So, for me you get them two holding and as I say, you get them two that's your insurance policy and just let the others go and play. You don't have to bomb on but he's gone and got two two unbelievable goals. So, yeah, great great result for Chelsea. It was a real banana skin. What? >> And Rodri in there? >> Uh a different kind of holding midfield player. Rodri ticks it over, Caicedo breaks it up. So, they thought a bit different. [laughter] >> Don't answer magic man. Just keeping you on your toes. >> Uh we're hoping to speak to Jordan Henderson very very shortly. Before we do, let's just have a quick look at how the Premier League table is looking after those results this afternoon. There's four 3:00 p.m. kickoffs and of course Arsenal winning in the 12:30 kickoff. So, Arsenal close the gap to no points on Man City who go away to Liverpool tomorrow. Man City leading on goal difference. That's as far as we're going to go with the Premier League table because the man we wanted to speak to, Jordan Henderson, is waiting to speak to us. Merse, you want to go first? You look like you're champ champion of the Chelsea fan. >> I've never seen you so excited. >> [laughter] >> Jordan, Paul Merson here. I I just want to say well done, absolutely outstanding. And I just want to ask you a question. In the long career you've had, great career, have you scored two better goals than that in one game? >> [laughter] >> No. I don't think so. >> And what happened with the free kick? How comes you took it? >> Well, we've been practicing them over the last couple of weeks and Austin, yeah, cuz I've been consistent in training, Austin showed some confidence in us to to take it right from that exact position that we've been practicing them from. So, fair play to Cole and Merse for letting us have it. And then I just did what I did been doing in training, put it in the corner. >> All right, brilliant. Well done, mate. Brilliant. >> Thank you. >> What did Palmer actually say to you before you took the free kick? >> Well, we've been put like I said, we've been practicing them in training and I scored a couple. So, I think he had more confidence in his than I I did in myself, probably. So, he said to us, "When when you put it in the corner, which which corner we're celebrating?" And then and I said, [laughter] "Well, just that one there to the right there." Um and thankfully it went in and then we went and celebrated in the corner we said. >> Two absolutely brilliant goals. With the first one coming in the first 66 seconds. You were out of the blocks so so quickly. In terms of what Javi Gracia was saying both before the game and also at half-time because you were equally quick quick coming out of the blocks at the start of the second half. What were the team directives for the way in which he wanted to set the tone from the off? >> I think it's always important in the Premier League, especially at home, to start the game well, start it fast, get the crowd with us. And I get again, I felt as though we did that today. Definitely first half and again in the second half, I think that was important because in other games maybe we've dropped in concentration a little bit, whether it's second half or end of the first half. But I felt as though we were a lot more solid today, a lot more concentrated and focused for the full 90 minutes and that you get your rewards in the end. Um we'll be a little bit disappointed, to be fair, with the goal we conceded. Um but overall we're delighted with the three points. We'll get back to work and and keep improving. >> Jordan, brilliant, mate. Well done. Can you tell these lot when you came on loan to Coventry, I taught you how to score that first goal. They don't believe I played a part in your career. >> He looked after us, to be fair. We had a few We had a few arguments now and again, but good arguments. Nah, but he looked after us, to be fair, yeah. >> [laughter] >> Jordan, congratulations on today. I just like to say, how important was it after that result against Brentford to to start this run of fixtures in in the way you did today? Very important. Um after Brentford, obviously everyone was disappointed. Um but when we analyzed the game, I still felt there was parts of the game that were were were good in. Um but overall We to improve and get better and the international break, probably came at a good time so we could work on the things we wanted to work on. Um and I felt as though that work we'll put into the game today and got our just rewards, but it was important to come here um and play well and get the three points, which we did. >> Out of the Merseyside next week for Everton away in the Saturday night football. Really appreciate your time uh this evening, Jordan. Congratulations on those two goals. Brilliant goals as well and apologies to James, who yet again made it all about himself. Thanks for your time this evening. >> [laughter] >> Thanks, fellas. Take care. >> Cheers. See you. Bye. Bye. >> We go straight back to the tables because uh we need to remind you of how things are looking, particularly in the Premier League. We didn't get very far cuz we needed to speak to Jordan, so let's just remind you of how things look ahead of City's trip to Liverpool. And my goodness me, on a whole number of levels, that is going to be fascinating tomorrow. But City now only leading Arsenal on goal difference between because the champions returned to winning ways today, coming from behind to beat Leeds United by two goals to one in the 12:30 kickoff. Brighton remain in third after another win for them, this time away to Sunderland by two goals. Now down to 10 men after they won it up as well. And Brentford remain in the top four as well. Their unbeaten start of the season continues, a 2-2 draw away at Aston Villa today. But Chelsea, the big movers after that win this afternoon, 5-1 at home to Bournemouth, up five places into fifth and only out of the top four on goal difference at the moment. And Ipswich Town, look at them, moving from 11th into the top half on ninth after they won by two goals to win one against Fulham. And for Ipswich Town so far, it's played six, nine points already on the board. Uh in terms of the bottom half, well, Tottenham Hotspur uh bottom of the pile as they have been in the last three weeks. They've had to wait until the Saturday night football that gets underway in just under a quarter of an hour's time at Old Trafford against Manchester United to try and change that. But Bournemouth still waiting for their first league win of the new season at Marco Rose. They remain winless and they remain in 17th. Sunderland dropping down into 16th after their defeat at home to Brighton today. Only four points on the board so far for Regis LeBris's side. And they've got Europa League action to come this coming Thursday before Bournemouth away next Sunday.
