The independent panel ruling on Manchester City's 115 charges have found the club guilty on most of them. And Premier League clubs, according to my information, were updated on the case at shareholders meeting on Thursday. And yet Manchester City are expected to appeal. That appeal is not without complications. Now, my understanding is the EPL are confident on a satisfactory conclusion, but there's no guarantee the case is resolved imminently in a matter of days or even weeks because of the potential appeal process. Sanctions range from suspended punishments or fines to points deductions and even expulsion from the league. And punishments can potentially be applied whilst an appeal is ongoing as well. Now, a City spokesperson told that the Premier League process remains ongoing with significant elements to be completed and subject to strict confidentiality. And as such, Manchester City's position remains consistent with the club's statement all the way back in February 2023. Manchester City have been in this position to some extent with UEFA, where they were found guilty and then went to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. And yet, the appeal process is not necessarily as clear-cut in this particular case. From City's perspective, it's business as usual for now. They have had a very productive summer with a big spend. Enzo Maresca has come in and replace Pep Guardiola. And City's intent is to fight on. But a lot of people have asked me, could this be similar to Chelsea? And after all the legal case and all of the time, and even with guilt, maybe City can go to the Premier League and find a more amicable settlement. And I would urge caution on comparing the Chelsea case to Manchester City one. The City one is more complex. But this is also an ownership defending their own behavior, whereas in the Chelsea case the settlement was more logical and likely because the Chelsea ownership in due diligence when it was clearly Boley, Todd Boley has of course left, they were seeing potential breaches for Roman Abramovich that were historical and self-declaring them. And because Chelsea cooperated from day one and were defending a club position from a previous ownership, a settlement made sense to all parties. City are not viewed as cooperating in this process and as a consequence could face some more severe punishment. So the next steps are the appeal which still could take some time, the possibility of a settlement but it's a lot harder, and then what kind of punishment. There could be retrospective punishment where titles are stripped for example, there could be a financial punishment, there could be a points deduction, there could be an expulsion. And as City digest this and assess what their legal position is, they will then move into an appeal. But huge breaking news that the vast majority of Manchester City's charges have been upheld. City have been found guilty for the main part. And this is going to turn into one of the biggest sporting stories of the year as a result with potentially significant and severe punishments like we've never seen before in football. And that is why the Premier League are now confident of a positive conclusion in their favor for this case.
