Welcome back to the Football Italia channel. As we speak, Italy national team are training behind these gates for tomorrow's game against France. We attended the opening 15 minutes. There were some important team news, so let's find out. >> [music] [music] >> So, Roberto Mancini is now giving his final tactical instructions to the team. The very first team news is that nine players will remain here in Coverciano training in the afternoon with some members of Roberto Mancini's staff. It happened already in the first two games, naturally, because the original team called up by Mancini was made of 34 players. And the squad list for the actual games can is is reduced to 23 players. So, Zaniolo and Giacomo Raspadori already pulled out because of injuries, and nine players will remain here in Coverciano not being available for the game against France. They are goalkeeper Pessina, the defenders Ahannour, Ghiardi, Cuadio, and Coppola. Midfielders Mandragora and and Romano, Alessandro Romano. And and strikers uh Cambiaghi and Gnazzo. I should say wingers probably, but it's obviously the attacking department. Probably the most surprising decision is on Romano, who made his debut against Belgium and was introduced as a substitute against Turkey on Monday night. But, again, these are not decisions that Mancini makes because he's not happy with the performances of some players. Some of these are rotations, some of these obviously there are players like Cuadio or Pessina who have never been involved in the games so far. so Mancini test them in training and then decides whether they they are eligible for the game or not. But for example, in the previous game against Turkey Nicolo Barella remains here in Coverciano. So it's not technical and tactical decisions. In most cases, it's because Mancini wants to give some rest to some of the first team players. Inacio as well is is another of those young players who have not been been involved in any game yet and hasn't been available for any Azzurri game yet. It was interesting to see that once again Mancini tested the lineup in front of of the media. It's again a 4-3-3. We could see the players he wants to use in each position. And so we assume Donnarumma starts tomorrow. And Alessandro Bastoni starts as well. Bastoni was the only one who when Mancini tested the 4-3-3 system was alone in his spot. The other players were they they were two right backs, two center backs except for Bastoni, two left backs and so on and three center forwards. So the lineup that Mancini has in mind is still a 4-3-3 with Kayode and Di Lorenzo were both tested as right back. The center defenders were Mancini and Scalvini and again Bastoni training alone. I mean, training alone. He was alone in his spot. He trained with the rest of the team obviously. Left backs Calafiori and Ruggeri. Ruggeri made a very good impression against Turkey making his debut with with the Azzurri just a few days ago. Center midfielders number six were Samuele Ricci and Sandro Tonali. Uh Ricci hasn't yet featured with with the Azzurri. He's available for this game. Um I would still expect Tonali to start, but don't forget, probably it was one of the best games in Ricci's career. You remember a few years ago, after the first game after the Euros under Riccardo Saponara, Ricci played as a playmaker and it looked like uh he could have been the playmaker for the Italy national team for the next few years. It it didn't quite happen, obviously, uh but today he was tested in that role, in the regista role, alongside Sandro Tonali. The um mezzalas, box-to-box midfielders on the right were Frattesi and Barella. As I said, Barella rested against Turkey, didn't even make the trip, so I would assume he starts. I did a video yesterday where I said that um Frat- kind of untouchable now, because I feel Frattesi can't is kind of untouchable now, because um he um he poses an attacking threat that no many other Azzurri players can do, but at the same time, Mancini today tested him alongside Nicola Barella, so as of now, we assume it's either one or the other starting. The left um box-to-box midfielders were um Ismaël Bennacer and Nicolò Fagioli. Now, we go on the attack. Um right wingers were Daniel Maldini and uh Vergara of Napoli. Uh now, it's interesting, because Vergara is waiting for his uh potential debut with the Azzurri. He's been called up, but he hasn't yet made his first appearance with the Azzurri. Um Giacomo Raspadori played in that position, right wing, but as we explained already, was a let me say fake right winger because he was more of an attacking midfielder or support striker. And I think both Vergara and Maldini can cover this role. Um I see a lot of hype on social media for Vergara, and I would be intrigued to see him uh start against France. I'm not quite sure because he hasn't yet played. So, on the one hand, he's fresh, but on the other hand, giving him his against one of the best teams in the world um away might not be the easiest thing, but we know that it's uh we know that every Italian player in the Italian national team don't have um an easy path ahead of them. So, it's I would say 50/50 for the right wing position. Left winger, it was Zuma and Sebastiano Esposito who made both made his debut um in the last uh two games. Zuma was introduced against Belgium in the first match. Sebastiano uh started against Turkey on Monday. And the three strikers uh center forwards uh were Moise Kean, Francesco Pio Esposito, and Gianluca Scamacca. Personally, I would still think uh Pio Esposito starts this game against France cuz he's our top striker. He's the striker who is tipped to make the difference for the Azzurri. Um he has these vibes of the top center forward, which Italy haven't had for quite a few years. And he has an incredible scoring rate already with six goals in 11 appearances with the Azzurri. So, I would expect him to start against France and maybe rest in the final game of the break against Turkey next Monday in Bologna. With perhaps either Kean or Scamacca starting not tomorrow against France, but next week against Turkey. But, let's see. Again, these were the first updates indications coming from Roberto Mancini during today's training session. Still a long way. The jury will finish the training now and then travel to Paris.
