Italy Call-Up Incoming for Cissé + Juve’s Underrated Signing 😎
Italy Youth Shine in Europe, Cissé Tipped for November Azzurri Call-Up
The show celebrates Italy's emerging young talent in the Champions League and Europa League, with the spotlight on Atalanta's Cissé, who the hosts expect to earn a senior Italy call-up in November. The duo also break down Inter's blow of losing captain Lautaro Martinez to a long injury layoff, Roma's crisis with five starters out, and label Tottenham loanee Sarr as Juventus's most underrated signing.
- Cissé should be in Mancini's senior Italy squad for the November break — Reasoning: the U21s have already booked their spot at next summer's Euros, Cissé has been playing for Italy at youth level, and the time is right to promote him.
- Cissé is a bright hope for Italy, with natural ability and significant room to grow — He already shows centre-forward movement and finishing against Salzburg, but there is still a lot more to come from him.
- Cissé is exactly the kind of creative, versatile attacker Italy has lacked since the summer — He can operate as an attacking midfielder, winger or centre-forward, which addresses Italy's well-known shortage of No.10s, strong wideers and dynamic attacking midfielders.
- Keeping elite young players in first-team squads and integrating them gradually works better than loaning them out repeatedly — Cites Jack Wilshere's point about Arsenal: Cissé is an example of a real talent developed by being trusted at a high level rather than farmed out.
- His Atalanta manager deserves huge credit for backing Cissé and giving him a chance — From his very first pre-match press conference the coach declared his footballing love for the kid, and that courage has turned Cissé into Atalanta's top scorer of the season so far.
- Lautaro Martinez's lengthy absence is a heavy blow to Inter — There are goals elsewhere in the squad (Thuram, Pio Esposito, Bonny), but Lautaro's presence elevates teammates, he is captain, and Inter already have plenty of defensive headaches to handle.
- Roma's five starters out perfectly illustrate that fitness was always the real question mark for this side — At the start of the season the Roma title talk always came with a fitness caveat; the Dybala-Malen partnership has been the engine of their attack, and Gasperini will now have to adapt his tactics.
- Sarr has been Juventus's most underrated signing of the summer — On loan from Tottenham with a €27.5m option to buy, he delivered 5 recoveries, 12 defensive actions, 5 interceptions and 9 ground duels against Salzburg, and is growing into a very solid stand-in for the injured Thuram.
- The Vlahović double-striker setup is a good problem to have, but unsustainable across a long season — The pairing produces more firepower but cannot start together every game in such a congested schedule; Juventus are rediscovering a pragmatic, ruthless winning edge reminiscent of the opening phase of their classic dominant cycles.
- Vlahović looked unhappy when substituted against Celtic Vigo, and that is something the coach will have to manage — It is not the first time Vlahović has reacted this way to being taken off; the positive, though, is that the strikers are finally scoring, and a striker who scores with almost every cross is exactly what Juventus need.

New day, new video here on the Football Italia channel. There was uh bad news earlier this week for Syria clubs and Italian football, but the situation is kind of improving as we approach the weekend. Let's find out. >> Joining me today is Richard Hold. Richard, thank you. Thank you so much for joining me today. Yeah, after last night it's a little easier to do this, isn't it? Because I think after the Champions League, uh, we were a little bit worried. >> We were We were a little bit worried. We have a video about it yesterday, which is about Nicolot Raldi, his hattrick against Inter. And by the way, the fact that Richard wasn't on the show yesterday, it's purely a coincidence, nothing to do with it was defeat. But yesterday wins from Juventus, wins from Milan in Europa League, win from Atlanta in the Conference League. Rich, um, we've been discussing, we will continue discuss about Taldi. Will he choose Italy? Will he choose Germany? We have a feeling that unfortunately he has already chosen Germany. We hope to be wrong, but that's good news. Alpha Cis is 100% Italian. He plays for Italy already. And uh I I think I guess we we'll see him with the senior team in November. Uh he wasn't part of the of the senior team in the previous break also because the under21 had some important games in the Euro qualifiers. Now that those qualification to next summer zero under21 is secured, I would expect him to be in Manchini squad next uh for the next break in November. What what a game yesterday. What a heart rate. That is incredible. Just just a clarification, I'm also not wearing a Latio top because of Trussaldi either. It's just me just visual representation >> because they play Juventus next weekend. >> No, listen C. I mean, was it fastest ever hattick by an Italian in the Champions League? Um, listen, the guy's incredible. Um, it's really nice to see that we've been going on about young players being given opportunities and doing it on the biggest stage. Uh I think that in a week that saw obviously you know in I have to say were terrible in the way that that that they conceded those goals and you know Roma can make your own conclusions you know Napoli again I think when you got to that Milan game I mean did their both papers Kad and Gazata were saying listen it's >> Juve and Milan need a big response and Cece was that bright hope I think for Italy really he sort of shone out and I just think he's got a lot to his game. I think he's got a lot. The interesting thing about him, I think he's got a lot to learn. I think he's only going to get so much better, but all the natural ability is certainly there and was was on the show. >> He has become the youngest Italian player to score a hat-tick in a European game, beating uh Delpierro and Toldi. Soldi have beaten Delpier and Nasis has beaten them all even though we know Tai is Italy born but technically representing Germany. Um I listened to his interview yesterday. Um he was talking about Capello. He was talking with Capello among others on Sky Sport Italia. Capello told him that he should not make too many backward passes. Um but obviously he was impressed with the performance on of of Alaja Cis and one thing that he was asked is you technically play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder but your movements are movements of a of an actual center forward and he said that he got those skills playing in the under 21 with um with Baldini but not only um I think it's interesting if you put it in the Italian perspective, >> in the Italy national team perspective because we've been talking a lot since the summer since we launched this uh YouTube channel reach about the fact that Italy don't have creative players about the fact that we lack the strong wingers, strong attacking midfielders. During the break, we spoke about Raspador's position against Turkey, the use that Manchini had had made of of his wingers and attacking midfielders. And I know Cece is very young. You should not put all the pressure on him and we won't. But he really seems to be thick in all these boxes where he can play as an attacking midfielder. He can play as a winger. He has he knows the movements that he has to make up front and he could be the right person at the right time. >> Yeah, I think so as well because I mean you think he's only playing in City of the season and you know he's made that step up and it goes towards the argument that we've been talking about. give these young players chances and they they will perform and a lot of them can do you know there are examples of this and he's another one you know we've long seen so many of them young age being loaded out loaned out and I think you get almost it's an interesting quote actually from Jack Wilshire on in English media about he's talking about Arsenal and he's saying that if you send players out on loan almost too much they become then ingratiated they grow with the league they're in but if you actually keep these real talent in the main teams and bring them in slowly. They only know how to perform at that level. It was a really interesting point and I think this is valid for Cay because you know okay he had that experience out. I get that but now at a young age being able to play as a center forward playing out wide it gives you that I would wouldn't call him a luxury player but it gives Manini options and I think that's what's really key. What we're seeing is he's building the Italian team from what we've talked about on previous shows from a really solid young base. Now to have a player like this who yeah like you say you're not over reliance on but you can throw in to add that quality that's really important. So it is very much right place right time >> and let me add something before we finish on C. Um big credit to Ruben Amore. I mean, we've been critical of Morim during during the the season. Milan never had highs and lows. They lost to to Benfica in the Europa League. They are still uh without defeats in Syria. But before the game against um against Salzburg, they only won one of the previous five games. So there was a bit of pressure on Amore. But Amarin from the very beginning I remember I think it was his first press conference before the start of Syria. I mean the first pre-match press conference he said I'm in love with Cece from a footballing perspective. And uh I don't know I can't imagine many Syria players starting the job for a big club seeing CeCe and say right this guy stays with us. Uh so big credit to Amorei because if Cece will end up playing a role for the national team even uh you know in the future featuring regularly, we partially owe it to to Amore as well because he was uh brave in giving this kid this chance and and now she say is the the best striker, the best scorer in uh for Milan so far this season. So, big credit to him. Thank you. >> Yeah, massively. Massively. No, I think so. And like you say, you know, having taken on Milan's a big job, especially when you've just come out of Manchester United, which was seen as a catastrophic failure. And to come in and pin your hopes and not completely pin your hopes, but be so adamant that you have this bright young thing, and to back him takes courage. So, and yeah, it's going to be beneficial for the national team. Rich, let's move to the other side of Milan because there is an important game for Inter against Bologna which you know historically is never so easy for Deruri but it will be even less easy now because Laro Martinez is injured and he will be remain out of action until the next break. So missing the next seven matches across all competitions. It's a big blow. I mean we spoke before about the fact that Inter have a lot of depth um in attack but I think one thing is you know you go to play and your captain is on the bench and something else is you go to the game and you know he's at home and he can't contribute. Sorry. How do you see the whole thing for in the the whole Laro Martinez situation especially with with this injury coming to ruin a little bit the Ku? >> It's a strange one because I think last season if you'd have said this I think what in have got is probably a little more depth weirdly this season yet. Um when you look at it now defensively obviously it's not great. This isn't just about the the Champions League. He's not been great all season going early goals down. Yeah, there's a huge I've said this and I hate saying it, but there's a huge question mark over >> Yip Martinez, you know, where the Providel now comes in. We'll see. So keep having all those defensive problems anyway is a big enough headache. There's you know these talk about you know beating the big teams has come back a little bit now again because of you know not being able to win the European games you know and I wouldn't call club Bru Buger that big a team but still it was a defeat having Martinez say it's more than just a goal scorer because you look at TM you look at Pio you look at even Bonnie and you think there's goals there definitely and there's goals from the midfield so willing to fall off a cliff without Laru? No, but you know it's a long time 40 days whatever that's going to be out like you say it's a long time and having that influence as a captain and he is so influential I've said this as well you know that a lot of the time when you're seeing the best of the best of Pio the best of Bonnie they're normally playing alongside Latardo uh he does bring out the best in other strikers so it's a huge blow huge blow um for in at the moment especially when there are questions being asked because of the European form so that's why the game which you're right is often a bit of a stumbling block for in any way against Bologna suddenly takes on such a vast importance now because I think if they can go there and uh and beat Bologna comprehensively you know with a clean sheet okay people will start to ease a little but you know a defeat there or a bit of a a high-scoring draw and the questions will certainly certainly be out. Um, like I said, they can score goals without Laro, but will they be as effective? Now, >> another team is struggling with injuries currently, and uh I'm not talking about Juventus, strangely, because they've been doing that since the start of the season. Uh, we'll be talking about the Juventus win shortly afterwards. Talking about Roma, after the game against Real Madrid, they got um during the game against Real Madrid, they got two injuries to Dybala and K. Now Dybala seems less serious than D than Kone both are expected to miss the next game um against Genua where there will be another return Daniel de Rosi days after Jose Mourinho. >> Uh so those two players injured mean Roma will have no villante no Dybala no Malin. >> Yes >> Mal is suspended. So he's five starters >> out of of this match. Malen scored the brace against Real Madrid which we discussed already. Unfortunately for Rome was useless in the end but again it proved we didn't need it but it proved it worth again um for the Jalosi. It's I mean Genua are not in the form of their life even though they've just won their first game this season but in five regular starters out it's it's quite something. It's massive and I think that when we talked at the beginning of the season, we I think I logged Roma as maybe second, but it was with a massive caveat and it was on players staying fit. Now, you look at it was if any any team showed you how important those starters are for a team, it was Roma against Real Madrid for two ways. One, Maron was exceptional, you know, absolutely exceptional. When him and Dybala have been playing together, it's been fire for for Roma. has been beautiful to watch. Um, they've been one of the best teams in the league to watch. Uh, SA in goal as well is fantastic and obviously without him, you know, I'm not saying that had a bad he had a bad game, but it wasn't good. Um, and it's huge and to have five out now you you are talking about the real backbone of that squad. This was always going to be the problem for Roma this season. What do they do without that? They've obviously got to look at other areas and hopefully, you know, try and look at I mean, it almost changes Gasparini's tactical approach now of how he does that. And I think that's what's going to be so interesting what Gaspirini how he set us up. Um I mean, Sil was he broken toe, isn't he? I think he's a couple of weeks he's looking at. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Does Vard more uh mid? Yeah. No, no. I mean more not more than a month but coming back uh I think November 20 after November 21 they play my way that is the game that should return K as well >> K as well even though K and Dal are having exams now so check the football >> yeah football you find out how long they stay out >> it's interesting isn't it because I think that's going to be a real a real difficult situation for them so for the next month whether he changes tactical approach will I I think he'll have to um because there's some big losses there and again it it will at least I suppose the only positive for Roma it will make them have to look more importantly for for backup in January. Not that they'll be spending big but they have to get something. >> Um just to sum it up here K and Zar are those expected to remain out of action for longer around as I said around a month. There's confidence that Dybala and Christristante will be back for the next game in the Champions League against Slovan Bratis Lava. So um in a week time, but we'll see again for the for Dybala there's less certainty because he's undergoing exams now. So >> we're waiting for updates which we will then report on the Football Italia uh website. To finish off here, I want to talk Juventus Richard. Last night they won 2-1 against Salt Viggo. It wasn't aint shintilating performance but it was it was solid enough to get a win. Uh Wad started the game in attack. You know the big talking point now for Juv is should they have one striker play with two strikers. If you play with two strikers and you build the team around those two strikers then you pallet will lack um options going forward because it's it's a long it's a long season. the uh feature list is always packed. He's always busy. So having >> your only two center forwards starting every game is impossible to do. Um but yesterday he wanted to win the game. He put on from the bench columni who then then who then got the uh second goal for Ju in Calgary. And did the previous matches when he needed goals he did the other way around which is column one. started the game and then will join him from the bench in the second half. Um this is the the main talking point about the attack but there's one player that I really liked and I think is um a really underrated signing for for Ju so far and I'm talking about Sar who came on loan with an option to buy from Tottenham. It was so good yesterday and he's been so good so far. very reliable. Uh I don't want to make any comparisons with any other player in the past, but he has given uh stability. He did he did a great job yesterday. Uh five recoveries, 12 defensive contributions, five interceptions, nine ground dual sw. I'm reading from sofa score. Fantastic, fantastic contribution from Sar and uh Tam is out but I feel like he's he's growing into a very very good replacement and not not many expected it. >> No, true. Um I think he's been brilliant. Um like you say, I think the key word there is the stability he had. I think that obviously, you know, with Spleti wanting that more ferocious approach. Certainly saw that in the second half with D um against Celtiggo. And I think when you have that mentality, I think what it's really what have been trying to get back, isn't it? A bit more of that old UV mentality about the fact that it doesn't matter how, but they have to win. Um, and I think that's the sort of player when Sar's in that sort of form that those recoveries you mentioned, it kickstarts again the counterattacks. It's interesting what you said about the front two. Um, Volto obviously vocal about the fact that he likes playing with Kmani. Um they did look good together when they do but like you say it's a long season >> they do >> and I think it's it's it's a real dilemma there because it is a long season but the the question is do you whilst they seem to be working well together continue this um you know to to give you Juventus more potency potentially um you know again it's it's a it's a I suppose it's a good problem to have um because the two are now scoring so it's certainly looking like it could end up being a much more I would say as a for the Juventus I'd be quite happy with the way it looks as if it's going towards a bit more of a pragmatic Juventus side uh but with a bit more of a killer instinct and I think that sometimes always those beginnings of the Juventus cycles that tend to dominate Italian football always seem to start like that you know so it always seems to you know it's winning games and all of a sudden it's like a freight train isn't it starting to build momentum and I'm sure that's what Spleti is wanting so I think it was really positive for um good problems to have. Uh like you say, S nice addition and uh yeah, it'll be interesting to see if Spleti can keep that momentum now. And uh yeah, fairly interesting to see how Spleti handles himself over these coming months as well about just if he keeps true to that idea of what he wants and if the team continues to respond. He's obviously got the situation with Kia to look at as well because he didn't look particularly happy when he came off either, did he? Yeah, potentially. Uh that's one of the that's one of the issues that he'll have to uh to pal have to manage. Canis wasn't happy when when he was subbed off, but during the press during the postmatch interviews, Pali said, "I hope he was he was angry with himself otherwise otherwise we we have toh to do a couple of words and and and to chat a little." It's not the first time actually that concises is is unhappy with with substitutions. Let's see. But surely the good thing for Spalate is that the strikers are starting to score. The good thing is that >> you put a cross in and column one is scores. If if column one scores one goal every two or three crosses is is a good news for you. But the problem so far is that it hasn't it hasn't quite done that. Uh just to finish off here with uh just a transfer difference between Colo uh between uh sorry Wade and Sar. Technically both are on loan at Juventus but Wultad is a dry loan deal. So Juventus have no option to buy him from Newcastle while S there is an option to buy attached for 27.5 million euros. So, if you went to Swan to Simon uh in the summer, this is the fee they'll have to pay after paying already 2.5 million for the loan fee. That's it. That's it, Richard. Uh time's up. Uh time to watch more football over the weekend. Uh and then next week again, we start again. We examine Syria. We examine Champions League. Uh we see all the possible implications with Italy national team as well. We will return with another Italian team of the week on Tuesday. So, what can I say? Thank you as usual. It's always a pleasure. Ciao. >> Ciao. Speak soon. Have a good weekend. Watch Syria. Ciao.
