Japan and France both won their opening group games and now they face off against each other with top spot in group D the prize for the winner. Cross blocked by Niakate. Then can't follow up on the clearance. Japan could be in here. The strike. Too close to the keeper. Better from Japan though. It's a good looking delivery and it's saved by the goalkeeper on the line. It was Shimizu who got there. Fumiga battling over there with Gérard. Here now is Ito. Defense splitting pass and the ball across parried by the goalkeeper and cleared before it can reach Kitajima at the back post. And Motlhalo forced wide but she can she do with the ball? Manages to hold on to it. And the long range effort onto the roof of the net. Both sides turning possession over quickly. Through to Hanashiro. WHO FINDS THE TOP CORNER. AND JAPAN FINALLY GET THE break through. That French defense is breached. Hanashiro in the penalty area. Still going. Beats the goalkeeper and Japan have a second. And it's that player again. Hanashiro. A win for Japan then. All three points secured and a place in the knockout rounds safe for them as well. The full time score then, Japan two, France nil.
