side as well. Lucy Bronze may move into midfield. Ellen White up front, the only player at these World Cup finals to have scored in every single game she's played here. Five goals, four games. Beth Me is also in the side in place of Tony Dugen. Dugen, who has not scored in her last 14 internationals, drops to the bench. Steph Horton and Alex Morgan meet. The two captains and our referee today is Edina Alves Batista from Brazil. It's her fourth game at these finals. And of course in the V room, Carlos Delero Grande >> leads the team. >> Well, the USA are bidding to become the first nation ever to reach three successive World Cup finals in the women's game. The goalkeeper in back four pretty much picks itself. But in midfield, Lindseay Heran is preferred to Samantha Muis. But the big shock news is that Megan Rapino is left out. Christian Press comes in. Alex Morgan, the captain, is 30 years old today. But the emission of Rapino is the major surprise. Now Rapino wearing 15, took no part at all in the United States warm-up prior to this game. She stood on the sidelines and only watched which would suggest though the USA Federation have not confirmed anything. It would suggest that Rapino is injured. England wearing their home colors, all white, >> against the United States in their change colors, all red. And so the first semifinal in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup gets underway with England kicking from left to right against the reigning champions, the United States. Steph Horton with the forward ball. >> Daly onto it. >> Here's Bronze Horton infield to Milliebrite. Here's Kira Walsh for England. Paris. A long ball downfield is uh well read by England's captain Steph Horton, but given away rather carelessly. This is pressed for the United States. Little clip ball in is a dangerous one. >> Kept in play by Haran. >> Bronze. Good early possession in the game for England. >> This is left back Demi Stokes. Walsh now >> driven to bronze and Daly thought it might be an England throw but the decision has gone the other way. Crystal Dunn is going to take this for the United States up towards Morgan. Cleared by Horton had a spell at Olympic Leon. Alex Morgan and Lucy Bronze England's number two is currently having a spell at Olympic Leon. Alista in the United States goal. Chase is on. Brilliant pace. All about the pace of Tobin Heath. Real test for Demi Stokes. United States get the corner. Planting herself right on the goal line is Kristen Press of six red shirts inside that England goalmouth as the corner kick comes in. I think Millie Bright got ahead on it. Player down for the USA inside the England penalty area. They've not cleared their lines very well here, England. But then it is lashed away. >> Crystal Dunn forward. Millie Bright got her head on it. This is dangerous. Haran is in the middle. It needed Bright to get across and make the clearance. Oh, brilliant stuff. GOOD SAVE BY TALFORD. Ball is still in play. England hanging on here in the early moments. Haran can't get ahead on that. Bronze did and it's volied over the top. Let off for England. What a brilliant piece of skill here by Rose Lavell is fantastic. Good save by Telford. Nutmeg on Millie Bright by Rose Lavell. Was fantastic skill. That's a foul. Free kick to the United States. Jill Scott's challenge. Unquestionably a free kick. Did wonder for a moment where the Brazilian official might not get a yellow card out for that on Morgan from Scott. It's late. It's high. Worth saying that the United States have been in front inside 13 minutes in every single one of the five games that they've played at this World Cup finals. And England are on the back foot here with five played. Christristen Press over this set piece for the United States. Curl just too high. Just Alex Morgan trying desperately to get onto it. Just too high for her. Well, it's been a strong start from the opposition and Phil Neville looks a little anxious. The England coach Sa Brun here. Lavell did well getting Kelly O'Hara involved. Tobin Heath with all that pace using it as well trying to get away from Stokes. Ohara with the cross in Telford. Not a very convincing punch. England a bit fortunate again. Here's bronze. Had to win that ball for England and she did. Nikita Paris. Here's bronze. Described by her coach as the best player in the world. Daily Stokes to Millie Bright. Kira Walsh. This is me down the left flank for England, but she won't reach that. >> England have lined up with uh me away on the left and Rachel Daly on the right with Ellen White in the middle of a front three and Nikita Paris who's been seen mostly on the right hand side for England in this tournament just behind Ellen White. It's an attacking lineup. This has been a very good start to the game for the neutral certainly and for Jill Ellis too I would suggest. Scots header Walsh for England. Horton will be crucial. Such a steadying influence. A real leader at the back for England. Scott Paris to Daly. Paris has found Daly. Chance to cross here for England. Jill Scott picking up the loose ball. Now Lucy Bronze. Scott again into Paris. Back to Jill Scott. That's well worked. if Daly can reach it. She just slipped as she was making that valiant attempt to do so. Plays in the United States with Houston dashed as Rachel Daly. Such a versatile player that her appearance on the team she can almost so confusion in opposition minds. Daly can play on the right here of a front three as she is today or she can play right back. given away by Walsh. Here's Heath. Can't let her pick up pace. Tobin Heath cuts inside. Walsh got a good footing. >> Nice tummy. Kelly O'Hara will reach this. IT'S IN. PRESS WITH A HEADER. IT'S A [cheering] BRILLIANT CROSS. AND KRISTEN PRESS HEADS THE UNITED STATES IN FRONT. And they've done it again IN FRONT INSIDE 10 MINUTES. YOU CANNOT KEEP THEM OUT. THEY ARE SO FAST OUT OF THE BLOCKS. SO AGGRESSIVE IN THE EARLY MOMENTS OF THE game and it reaps dividends again. It's a lovely dummy here. Kelly O'Hara profited. WHAT A SUPER CROSS AND A FANTASTIC header at the back post by Christristen Press. Her 49th goal for her country. It's a brilliant header. Telford Bardsley. Any goalkeeper you care to mention, they're not saving that. England nil. The USA won. England went 6 hours and 29 minutes without conceding a goal. >> That run is now over and they are behind for the first time in this World Cup finals. Heel for hand ball is given against Saun. England's free kick is wasted. Press who scored the goal. Danger here as Rose Lavell touches it off to Haran. Might come back to Lavel. Millie Bright with not a very good clearing header. Danger again here. These are big moments for England. Goal kick. This was dangerous. Brilliant cross and a great header. >> Well, it is the 40th game in FIFA Women's World Cup final history in which the United States have taken the lead and they've never yet lost. Four draws and 35 victories in the previous 39. Here's Walsh. Cut out by Z for the United States. Bronze with the throw. Daly just swatted away by Haran. Morgan just behind Lindseay Huran. Well, there we go. Every single game at these finals, they're in front again. Here's Jill Scott for England. Lucy Bronze, Steph Horton, Rachel Daly forward. Listen now with the clearance. Jill Scott though tidying up for England. Walsh with the forward ball. Paris here. Alan White is in the middle. So is Beth Meade. Nikita Paris goes back to Lucy Bronze intended for Jill Scott. It wasn't the best ball and Crystal Dunn cut it out and they might break it if Morgan can stay on side and she has and Lala's found her pan press to Heath inside the area. Christristen Press here put it exactly where Jill Scott wanted her to actually. Here's Daily for England. >> Lucy Bronze firing it away to Beth Me. Me now being chased by O'Hara. Me. Can she find Ellen White? >> Well covered by Dal Kemper. Saun. Press Abby D Kemper. Danke is the only member of the squad to have started all five games in outfield positions for the United States. Everybody else has been rotated but not hurt. >> Well for England by Stokes. Great tournament it's been for Alyssa Ny actually in the United States goal having sat and watched the 2015 finals as a substitute who never got on the pitch. Same story at the Olympics a year later. Here's Tobin Heath. Lavell lovely turn that. Heath again. Ohara Heath. >> It's over the top. >> She cut in onto her left foot here. Laval. >> Tough moments here for England. They've been second best. That's it. >> Did well. Walsh to hold on to possession under a little bit of pressure from Morgan. Horton Milly Bright here for England. Few moments of possession certainly wouldn't go a miss. >> Horton Beth Meat. That's a lovely first touch. White trying to stay on side. Meat couldn't quite find her. Lavell for the United States finds Haran. >> Jill Scott did well there. Just forced the error. Steph Horton. >> Bright Walsh. No danger there. Bright head. Rather unpromising clearance from Juliet Z not giving anyone any chance to get on to it. Horton, bronze throw into the United States. >> Trip was inadvertent. Horton for England finding bright Walsh. Daly Harris for England. Walsh aimed towards Beth Meade. Three in the box here. ENGLAND. ME CROSS. WHITE IN. >> IT'S A BRILLIANT EQUALIZER. >> ELLEN WHITE for England. It's 1-1. >> IT'S HER SIXTH GOAL AT THE FINALS. >> She scored in all three group games. She scored in every game she's played and she's done it again. >> England won, THE UNITED STATES WON. ELLEN WHITE, brilliant goal. It's a good ball away to me. It's a great one into White. What about this for a finish? angles her right foot so that the ball is up into THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE NET IN off the post. IT'S A BRILLIANT finish and it's 1-1 in the semiinal. >> Only behind for nine minutes England. Well, that's going to feel a whole lot better now for Phil Neville and the England fans. It's a superb goal. She's uh gone ahead of Rapino and Morgan on to six goals as the tournament's top scorer as we stand in the race for the golden boot. Sam Kerr of Australia also on five goals. But unlike Rabino and Morgan, Kerr cannot add to that total. bronze for England. Harris Haran goes to ground. Free kick to the United States. >> Well, there are frailties in the World Champions. We've seen it three games now consecutively in which they've conceded. Dal Kemper with the long free kick. Millie Bright got her head on it. Lavel hit it and it cannon off Bright. And England might break here. Paris Daly to her right. Me to the left. White down the middle. This is Daly. >> Daly inside. Done has done brilliantly. White >> going to ground. I don't think there's any great appeal in that. Daily here. Dun's challenge on Daly looked uh slightly more suspicious. I don't think there was anything in that from D Kemper on Ellen White >> and nor did Ellen White really appeal for anything. S run forward. Morgan with a touch around the corner which Lindseay Haran can't quite keep in play. This is shaping up this semiinal to be every bit as good as we'd hoped. >> Bronze with this throw in for England. That's a very strong challenge by Z. Walsh has it. >> Passes and possession behind in terms of shots. >> Not often you see the United States having less of the ball than their opponent. Horton forward. Daily one reached that. >> Well, England had never previously scored a goal against the United States in World Cup finals football. Their only previous meeting, a quarterfinal 12 years ago, 2007, finished 3-0 to the United States. That was in uh 2007 in China. Tournament ultimately won by the Germans. >> Steph Horton in a bit of bother here and getting herself out of it. Well, then trying to find Walsh. Lavell made a challenge. Z here. >> Here's O'Hara. Strong header LL. Good save. Really good save by Telford. Ball is still in play. We do have the United States player down here. And a couple of England players struggling as well. Alex Morgan, the skipper, is down. crunched by Lucy Bronze as they both attacked the same ball. The lavel shot was hit with real power but was straight enough for Telford to parry it reasonably comfortably and Alex Morgan looks to be okay. The quality of this finish is so high. It's so deaf, so precise and quite beautifully done by Ellen White. Well, she scored one against Scotland, two against Japan, one against Cameroon, one against Norway, and now one against the United States. >> We're going to have a drop ball as play was stopped with Alex Morgan suffering from a head injury. It's going to be an uncontested drop ball in the uh new interpretation of the laws. I'm sure that uh Roosevelt knows that. Here's Millie Bright to Steph Horton. >> Daly bronze now. Oh, well won by Haran. Good strength. Z Sa Brun. Dal Kempa. Ohara. >> It's too much on it for Morgan. >> Millie Bright. >> Walsh. That's a good run. Davy's run inside. It opened up space here for bronze to attack. She's the one they fear. Here's Beth Me FOR ENGLAND. OH, SLIP AND A CRUCIAL TIME. What a shame for Beth Me. England have a throw. >> Paris for England. Stokes. DRILLED IN. OH, IT WAS SO CLOSE TO AN OWN GOAL. My goodness me. Becky Saun is so fortunate here. Kira Walsh with the ball into the box. Saun's volley had danger written all over it. >> That is so close to being an own goal. >> England corner. Indication perhaps of just how uncomfortable the United States back line is when England get at them. It's a corner to be taken by me and that is a terrible waste. >> Central defenders who had come forward for this corner won't thank her for that. Well, Saun here. How close is that to going in the back of her own net? Almost the ninth own goal of these World Cup finals. Almost, but not quite. Out of playoff Steph Halton, United States have the throw in. Lindsay Haran is going to take it and finds Crystal Dunn here. All the way over to the other fullback, Kelly O'Hara. Heath O'Hara Z has got forward. Haran. It's the first time we've really seen Juliet get forward from midfield for the United States. Had the misfortune Juliet to score an own goal in the final of the uh last World Cup, >> but uh didn't turn out to be too damaging. USA won anyway against Japan. Here's Telford. >> Bronze Horton. It was a little short the pass from bronze. Christristen Press has done well. Good turn to Heath here. Strong challenge from Daly. Two strong challenges from Daly >> Dal Kemper to O'Hara. >> It's been a terrific half hour. 1-1 in Leon. [screaming] Press Haran. Lovely ball Morgan. Fabulous goal. [cheering] Alex Morgan ON HER 30TH BIRTHDAY ON HER RETURN TO LEON WHERE SHE SERVED OLYMPIC LEON WITH SUCH DISTINCTION [cheering] ON THE OCCASION OF THE 2019 FIFA WORLD CUP WOMEN'S SEMIFINAL HEADS THE USA BACK IN FRONT WITH HER SIXTH GOAL OF THE TOURNAMENT. Lovely move. It's a great ball in again. >> Demi Stokes was left marking. Alex Morgan and it wasn't really a contest. >> Alex Morgan. England one, the United States 2. Scores on her birthday. The first player ever to do so in a Women's World Cup finals. England are behind again. Could be that Alex Morgan is going to play in a third World Cup final. England have plenty of time. AND HERE'S WALSH CURLING. OH, GREAT SAVE. Alissa N really at full stretch. Great drive from Kira Walsh. Daly here trying to get the better of Dunn. Has bronze in support. Dunn has seen it behind and it's a goal kick. [cheering] What a tremendous strike here from Walsh. Curling and fainting away from the goalkeeper who did ever so well to get there. >> Oh, five, six cm higher. It's in Morgan. Scott for England. Millie Bright >> Horton >> touch from Z took it away from Paris. Alex Morgan Heath to her right hand side. Well, she's quick Tobin Heath, but no one's that quick. >> Here's Steph Horton. That's going to be a throw in to England. To the United States rather, Crystal Dunn taking it. Can you keep the defan he's Oh, nicely done over the bar. >> Well worked again though. >> Found the space. Julie Z onto her left foot. Should be disappointed with the finish. I think just leaning back as she hit it. done forward. Bronze in quickly for England. It's been a game of great tempo. >> Lavel onto that. Walsh has to win this. She hasn't. It's Lavell for the United States. Danger here. Four red shirts in the middle. Haran attacking it. Bronze did brilliantly. Jill Scott's there. >> Full stretch there. England. It's an England throw out a play by Saun. But uh they were at full stretch here. Great header from bronze. Z bright giving the ball away. Lavell has had a wonderful first 35 minutes and then gives the ball to Paris. >> So the shots very much in the favor of the United States. >> Both England's on target. However, 2-1 England trail Horton bronze Scott done forward. Challenge came in from Nikita Paris was a fair one in the opinion of the officials. Maybe less so in the opinion of the United States, but there you go. Here's Crystal Dunn. Now, Kelly O'Hara, Dal Kemper to Sabra, >> Dun Haran, >> bronze in the way for England. Press and Dy getting involved in a real scrap. Referee didn't like the aggression shown by Christristen Press here. >> No complaints though from Daly. There is Megan Rapino named amongst the substitutes. But uh if you missed what we were saying earlier, she took no part in the players warm-up whatsoever. The only member of the squad not to do so, which would suggest that she has an injury. I'm sure that uh Jill Ellis will be asked that as one of the very first question she answers in our postmatch press conference. Alyssa Nia with the clearance. Horton forward looking for White, scorer of a super goal for England. The two excellent headers of the United States mean they're in front. And here's Lavel. Juliet Z. SA run for the United States. Crystal done Haran. Beth me here for England. O'Hara is in quickly. Bright and Morgan together. And Morgan goes down holding her face after a challenge from Millie Bright. The card is coming out here for the England defender. >> All cards were wiped from the slate. All single and yellow cards after the quarterfinals. >> Bright's left hand into the face of Alex Morgan. reminiscent of a challenge by Abi Wak on FA White when England and the United States met in that quarterfinal of uh 2011. It's a free kick to the United States which is curled into the England penalty area. They've got to be careful from headers. They've conceded from two Hans was off target. >> United States last lost a game in a World Cup finals in 2011 in the group stage against Sweden, >> who are possible opponents in the final. Should the United States get there >> and should Sweden get there? England and the Netherlands have >> something to say about that. Jill Scott is down here for England. >> That's exactly the same. >> Phil Neville's not happy about that. >> He's saying that's exactly the same as the one Millie Bright just got a yellow card for. You can see the mark under Jill Scott's right eye there on the cheekbone. The referee is uh referring this It's Haran into Scott. >> Well, it is a free kick. It's not a yellow card. That's what Phil Neville was complaining about. Bright Stokes forward looking for Scott. Saun to Don Kemper to safety. Heath Lavell O'Hara. Oh, it hit Bright. Might be trouble here for England. >> Bright managed to get in the way of the cross. Well, it hit Bright >> inadvertently on the back of the head and fell nicely for the USA. Presses cross then put behind by the England defender. >> England will be very wary here. There's not much of this first half to go. 2 and 1/2 minutes of normal time. 2-1 at Halime would not be so bad. 3-1 would look like a very healthy lead for the reigning champions. In comes the corner kick to the near post headed firmly away by Rachel Daly. >> He's leaving the throw. Kelly O'Hara to take this >> to hit the corner flag and is a throw only to the United States as it came off Demi Stokes. England throw is the outcome of this. >> It's been
