Extra time is here. Hello, welcome in. A lot of Manchester United questions. Jurg, what's it like? You felt it as the US and obviously in Bayern as well when you've got all this noise, all the press talking about the future. You could say you block it out, but it's got to affect you personally and it with people like us saying, "Well, maybe it's time for him to get the sack." >> No. AB: Absolutely. it kind of works on you and and you think uh every second, you know, what you're doing right, what you're doing wrong, and what you could do better. And uh no, it it works on you. There's uh no way that you can kind of just blank it out and say, "No, it doesn't doesn't bother me at all." It it works on you and uh but you you stay focused on what is the next uh match coming up and uh you have to believe that if you win the next match get uh to turn things around. >> How did you deal with journalists who were writing bad things about you but then to your face or being nice? >> I've always been straight with them. you know, even if they said something certainly not so nice, you know, at the end of the day, you know, I bring it back maybe here and there to the table. Uh because I I really think if it's a journalist or or a fan or anybody that we all have our own opinion on on the game and we have our own opinion on what the teams are doing and and how they're doing and I I think it it's it's it's it has to be respectful at the end of the day. If it's disrespectful, if it becomes personal, then I uh I'm I probably avoid these kind of conversations then afterwards. >> Yeah. How did you Because the Venezuelan press weren't nice to you back in the day. >> Uh no, they were not. >> And what was it like when you kind of saw those journalists trying to >> Well, then I I don't think you'd be surprised with the fact that I just ignored them and didn't talk to them. >> Yeah. I don't. And honestly, as a player, you go in, you do your job, and you get out. And those I those that were nice to me, I it's it's not like I treated them particularly well. Uh because I know all of this is smoking mirrors. None of this is the truth. >> No. >> And none of this is an accurate representation of what I'm doing or what I'm supposed to be doing on the field. I know what my role is and I'll do my job as best as I can. And those people that are nice to me today may not be so nice to me tomorrow and so therefore I treat it all the same. Just didn't talk to them. >> Oh, our producer goes, "Why don't you just ask the question?" All right. Sorry. Can Carrick because we're talking about Michael Carrick and I just wanted to be all inclusive a little bit. I was interesting but no. All right. >> Well, to I know they producing further. Can I just share the story with the viewers that I shared ahead of the show where I was playing golf a couple of days ago and a new member of the club? >> Yes. You two are at the members of the same club. >> Yes. And we play separately because I'm not near not as good as Craig and he doesn't like me all that much, but that's all right. It's neither here nor there. >> You play You play You play too early. >> Well, that too. Um, in any case, this new member says, "Oh, I play with Craig." And I say, "All right. Yeah. Yeah, I work with Craig a lot." Yeah. And he goes, "He's a really nice guy." And I'm like, "I'm an egg." >> What? >> I left it at that. >> It was It was Craig Burley. >> Yes, it was Craig. I Yeah, he's a really nice guy, but it was coming from like from the soul, from the heart that this guy felt a connection with Craig. >> Yeah, >> I know. It's hard. I know it's hard to soak in. >> Spent 13 years with him. >> You know, it's hard to suck in, you know, once I'm away from here. >> Right. Great. Can Carrick make it to Christmas or is he getting sacked by the end of the month? >> Well, I mean, it's difficult to answer that question because that'll all come down to results. Will he last? I don't know. I don't know. I think he will last to Christmas unless it's a disa total disaster. And I'll tell you why. I don't I think the board are going going to do everything they can to try and save face because this is their decision. Again, this is another one of their decisions. And if they pull the trigger relatively hastily, they're basically admitting all the people we've talked about in the live show, Jason Wilcox, Omar Bara, all the people running the show for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it's basically an admittance that they've gotten it wrong again. And I think that buys him a little bit more time. How much time? I I just don't know. I mean, if they lose at less at the weekend, we're having another conversation. So, I just don't know. >> Who would you replace him with? >> Who's on that list? >> Well, I tell you who >> we talked about Conte. He's been a Pochettino, >> Southgate, >> Eddie How. >> Eddie How? Yeah, >> he's on the list. >> Yes. >> Whe they you agree with that or not? I don't know. >> Well, we can put him on the list. It's our list. >> Well, he's on the list. getting reports in England that that he's actually one of the front runners. >> Hey, you've been reading the newspapers. >> No, I'm a little bit more advanced than that. >> So, who would you have out of those four? I wouldn't have Antonio Conte cuz I think he he puts fires out and does a good job generally, but then it ends very quickly. And I just don't think that's what United are just going through that that phase continually. I think out of that four, given the opportunity, I would have the the manager of the US at the moment. Right. given the opportunity. >> Why can't you say his name? >> Okay. Leave that to others. >> Leave that. >> Why can't you just say Porchettino? >> Leave it to others. I just want to say his name every two minutes. >> Hey, the Nglesman's been linked as well. Jurg. >> Do you have a ranking out there already in the betting? >> In the betting nogles. Yeah, apparently in the >> I can only imagine when Jurgen was manager of the US having to listen to some of the absolute swaddle from people that were covering the game in this country. I mean that must in Germany and all that you can get it cuz you know but then you have certain people who are just I can only I must have been going home bashing his head on the wall thinking who are these people? >> Sorry, have I up? Would you like to name me in danger? >> Okay. Jurgen, what difficulties did Flick face in the mind shaft that stopped him from implementing this incredible style of football that we witness at club level? Good question. Because it's completely different characters, completely different team, different hierarchy, different chemistry within a team. Um, also outside of the team environment, you know, the people that you work with uh on a daily basis then uh when you be dealing a federation, it's uh it's it's different to a club team and and uh it shows you that you as a manager, you have to match uh at the right time the right place, you know, and he matches this kind of place at the moment in Barcelona. It's just uh perfect for him. It just seems to be the perfect match because it's a very young team. They they listen to him well. You know, he's not a big talker. He's not tiring you in a conversation. He knows his playing style and he he tries to kind of bring it across in the training sessions and things are are smooth in a certain way. and in other environments, you know, you have a dynamics, you have especially I mean Alejandra and Greg know that you know the the chemistries and the hierarchies of the teams are so different in in every place um and but not only kind of between the players uh also within the entire staff that you're working with and if you imagine now um managers deal with staff people um I mean I know for me in Milan for example they travel with 75 people to to away games, you know, 25 players and 50 other people are staff people and you have to manage them. You are the coach, you are the responsible person, but if they don't match, if they don't have a good drive, if they don't have a good chemistry, if they don't bring in, you know, a good feeling, a good wipe into your environment that you are responsible for it, you you going to be on the losing side. So, so it's really tricky and that's why, you know, in certain places you're the the perfect fit and another place you go, it just doesn't match. >> And and while all of these points by Jorgen are very valid and he knows them very well because he went through it, it's also important to mention that there's a difference in talent level as well. What Hans Fleick has available to him at Barcelona is at a far higher talent level than what he had available in the German national team, particularly in attacking positions. Imagine Stevie in charge of a staff of 50. >> Well, I'm just I'm just trying >> I'm just trying to name Paul. >> Why are you high-fiving everybody? >> I'm trying to think about the bus leaving the the Chelsea training ground in West London with 75 people on it. How the hell >> 75 people? I think one of the differences is a big difference and Jurgen Klopp's going to find the same thing is it took Jurgen Klopp a while at Liverpool to to get to bash it into their brains about what he wanted >> that takes well Liverpool was different to Barcelona because Liverpool needed a bigger a bigger turnaround and that took that took longer but he's working with them every day or six days a week whatever it is and Hansy Flex's doing the same you're not doing that with a national team you're getting a bunch of different characters from different clubs coming in generally for three or four days. It was three weeks in this last occasion, but generally it's for four or five days. You're putting them all together and then you're seeing what your best 11 is going to be. That's a lot different to managing day in day out at a club >> when you know every strength and weakness of the player. They know what your training is going to be. They know what you want. So Jurgen Klopp's going to have the same issues that Hansy Flick had. a player pool and two the lack of time to work with the players that that that he had at Liverpool and what Hanzy Flick has got at Barcelona. Final question, Alli. Who had the most disappointing result today, United in or Bayern? >> I mean, significantly uh disappointment. I I think it's a continuous uh lack of performance from Manchester United because that's only going to bring more pressure. But in terms of disappointment itself, >> I think Inter >> Mhm. It's a continuation of what we saw in last year's Champions League. It's a team that Jurgen mentioned in the show that yeah, they dominate in Sera, but what we used to see in Champions League, we're not seeing it any longer. They struggled last year against BTO Glint as well at some point in Champions League. I think Inter is shows a trend in Italian football that I we know this and and we have seen it happening for years, but that trend is going in the wrong direction. And I think the only person who doesn't see that or who's unwilling to see that is Gam Marotti who continues to defend what Cyia is doing. >> Wow. >> There is a lack of overall talent. There's aging talent and players that have been outcast from somewhere else end up in teams like Inter and eventually you have to have a new generation that doesn't seem to be around. I'm going to say Inter losing at home. >> Inter for you as well, Jurgen. >> Yeah, for me as well. Absolutely. you know, when you lose at at home in that way um to an outsider in in in that moment with with BJ um that that hurts. And you know, I mean, the Inter fans obviously they're very very loyal. You know, it's always sold out with 75,000 Sans Stadium. I mean, they're going they're going home tonight and and conceded four goals and they they just simply cannot believe it. And uh it it hurts it hurts them because obviously they went through so much pain now over the last 10 12 years with their national team. Uh and they cannot figure it out now in the club level either and uh um yeah there's a lot a lot of work ahead for the Italians. >> Good stuff Jurgen. Thank you very much. Thank you Jensen. Much appreciated. They'll be back tomorrow reflecting on Manchester City against PSG. Roma against Real Madrid as well. doing
