Eintracht Braunschweig vs. Holstein Kiel | Matchday 7 - Bundesliga 2 2026/27
Braunschweig beat Kiel 1-0 as Kiel's winless run reaches seven
In this Bundesliga 2 matchday 7 game, Braunschweig capitalised on a poor back-pass to take the lead and held on for a 1-0 win. The commentator felt Braunschweig were the more positive and clinical side, while Kiel had plenty of the ball but lacked quality and goals, increasing the pressure on the Kiel head coach.
- Kiel can still turn their season around — He pointed to Kiel's 2017-18 run of 11 games without a win, after which they still finished third in Bundesliga 2, as evidence that a winless run does not define a season.
- Kiel's players are fighting, but at times they simply lack quality — They are not short of effort, and the fans are demanding they fight for survival, but their decision-making and execution in key moments are not good enough.
- Braunschweig were more united, harder-working and more determined in the first half, so their lead was deserved; Kiel barely threatened — Braunschweig defended and fought as a team, while Kiel produced no real chance in the first 45 minutes.
- Kiel need more desire, and possession alone is not enough; if they cannot find their scoring boots, this will be a long, hard season — Kiel have scored only seven goals in seven games and are still without a win, with their possession not translating into goals.
- Kiel's leading attacker is carrying almost all of their attack, and without him they would not even have those four points — He has been directly involved in six of Kiel's seven league goals this season, with four goals and two assists; the commentator said that without him Kiel would not have taken four points from those four draws.
- The Kiel head coach's survival effect is wearing off, and seven games without a win are making his position increasingly difficult — Although the club has not yet publicly discussed his job, the winless run and low table position mean verbal backing does not guarantee safety.
- Braunschweig deserved the win and Kiel offered almost nothing; right now Kiel simply cannot win — Braunschweig were the more positive side from the start, while Kiel lacked any real solution in front of goal and ultimately had to accept defeat.

It has been a long international break and this is now the business side of things in professional football when Brownike at home take on Holstein Ke in Bundesliga 2. It's match day seven of this rather new campaign but we do now know where we are. It track brown schwag at home today against Holstein Keel and both of these two sides have been using that two-week break to reset to reg and to get cracking because at the moment they have both had some problems. Brownwag. Well, they had an opening day in this season that was an absolute gala against Makdeborg, winning that game away from home by six girls to one, but they've collected just one point since on match day five against in a 2-2 draw. They are currently 15th in the standings, a position that they know well in three of the four last seasons. That is the position that they had finished in once actually 16th in the 2024 25 season where they had to go into a relegation playoff against Sar Brooken. So they need to get back to winning ways. Holstein Ke the visitors here today are the only side in the league that have not won a match yet and including the tail end of last season. That's eight games in a row now without a win. Well, the crowd trying to take some positives here after that two week break and this could be one of those games that decides how the season goes. I always tend to feel after the first six match days that you do have an indication of how things are. Let's take a look at the two sides here tonight on Friday. Net track brownswag have made one change to the last match when they traveled to Kaiser Slton and lost that game by one goal to nil. Fabio de Miki Sanchez comes in at left back for Noah Catabach who is not available otherwise no changes to that side today for head coach Lars Cornetska. The main man to watch up front possibly Yan Orbik who has scored three goals already. He came off injured in that game after 27 minutes but has made it back into the starting 11 here today. Plenty to choose from. Number 30 Hoya Robin Hoer back in the squad once again. He has been injured. That's the first time he's actually in the squad today. Holstein Ke have made four changes. Two out of necessity. Casper Davidson is injured. David Sex saw double yellow card last time out is suspended for this game. In comes John or Jay Tolken at left back. Ivan Nekich in foret and Davidson who is injured. Impul comes in to replace him with Yonas Tlesson on the left for Gan Derek who finds himself back on the bench. Head coach Tim Valtera is confident that his boys from Ke have recharged those batteries to get cracking once more in the second tier of German football. It's Bundesliga 2. Let's take in some of the atmosphere. And I'm pretty sure you will know this song. and it doesn't matter which country you are in or which football team you support. When you hear that, you know the game is about to commence. It's Friday night. The weather's changed. It's getting cooler, but things are hoting up in the league right now. Two sides that have to get back to winning ways. I mentioned the fact before that Holstein Ke are the only team in the league that have yet to win. But on a positive note, they did manage four draws. Back in 2017 and 2018 in that season, which is what nine years ago now, they went 11 games in a row without winning. At the moment it's eight in a row going back to the part of last season and still they ended up finishing third in Bundesliga 2. Pushing for promotion but beaten by Volsborg in the playoffs nine years ago. So there's still hope for the team yet. A win today will be that positive energy that they truly need to boost this season. So, the friend and referee is Eric Vicebach. Because not quite on the pitch yet, let's uh tell you about the rest of the officials here today. Lassa Koslovski and Hannis Vinska. The fourth official is Christian Balvik and a video assist in the cellar in Cologne is Dr. Robert Kama who also has an assistant and highly experienced Goro Clever. So here we go. at Brownswag Durven the Lions at home at the Stardian against Hullstein Ke the team that were relegated from the Bundesliga only recently in the 24-2 season and then back into the second tier found it very difficult to really keep their status just about managing an at the end of the day. Serinkew who've been relegation candidates now for some time and both of these two sides now find themselves in exactly the same position. Holstein Keel do currently occupy that third from bottom spot which would be a relegation playoff spot should this be the end of the season. The good news is it's not. It's match day seven in Bundesliga 2 and anything can change. All the bottom four clubs at the moment are all level on four points. Above them cars who have five, so to Armenia Beerfeld, Denyur with six. And then a whole host of teams with seven points. A victory today for either of our two sides. And all of a sudden they could shoot up the table. And that is something that will always give a team and coaches more confidence to take on the next up and cominging games. Tim Valta, the 50-year-old who came in February of this year, replacing Marcel Rap managed to steer the ship for Ke to keep them in the league. And now it's up to he and his boys to perform here away from home. Ibra the whites of Holstein Ke that is Phil Hatis their leading man scored again last time out keeps on doing that four goals now couple of assists to his name as well he's actually scored five competitive goals this season. Four in the league, two assists to go with it. He has been directly involved in six of K's seven goals in Bundesliga 2 this term. Lars Konetka, head coach for Brahwag, the 48year-old And we are on the road here. It's match day seven. My name's Gary Preston. Welcome to Boners League 2 Brownwag at home facing Holstein Ke. And just in case you've just joined us, two teams that simply have to get back to winning ways. Holstein Keel are the only team in the league at the moment that have not won a game of football. Their four points have been collected with four draws. Brownike won their very first opening match day of the campaign in fine fashion. A yeah, a gala winning 6-1 on the opening match day against Magdaorg away from home. But since then, they've only managed to pick up one point. And after that long international break, both of our two head coaches have been focusing on what they've been doing wrong in order to get it right. Here the boot from Max Marie from Brswag just about connecting with his opponent's face there. Skele in the white on the ball here. It's Sagena Japanese and right back John Michael Jai Tolken at left back today. One of four changes to that side for Keel that managed to collect a draw against Osnner before that international break. Goalkeeper Ron Torman Hoffman and the skipper of Brown Schwag Duran as they're known here in Germany. The Lions team in the blue shorts and the yellow shirts. Ball back there from Cortidis. The only change to Brown swag is the left back Fabio D Meri Sanchez after they were beaten in Kaiser Stoutton. Could have been more girls for Kaiser Stoutton on that day, but Ron Torbert Hoffman performed ever so well. That is Memmet with the throw in here. Young player, the 24 year old promised so much in his uh early career. >> He has scored twice this season already, but he's not in top form at the moment or wasn't before the international break. Good running here. Good movement. Pass there from D Mi Sanchez. Picked up by Max Marie. Dare Sanchez directly INTO THE BOX. OH, THREE MINUTES GONE AND WE'VE GOT THE OPENING GOAL. YIK. RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME. Scored a brace on match day one in Magnaborg in that 6-1 victory away from home. has not scored since match day three when he opened the scoring in that game against Herta from Berlin. He's done the same here today. The reason being Ke quite a wake. He had good movement. Max Murray linking up well with DK Sanchez. Is that shoulder offside? It's a lovely goal from Yan Orick. Great delivery I think so from Fabio D M Sanchez and the away Orick took that that's a lot of class sometimes just a simple tap is enough but they are looking at that whether it's offside or Oh, he's offside. >> So, an indirect free kick. No goal. I thought I was I saw Shelder there a little further towards goal than the opponent's ke. So despite the fact that was a great goal, it will not count. We're back to level nil nil. But a very promising start for my track brownswagen nonetheless. Here the challenge from Idin from behind celebrates that. But there was a tug on the opponent's shirt as well. Takina the number 32 on the ball here. Scored a known goal. Nice time out for Ke against his own goalkeeper. Rather unfortunate as well. Ball cleared there by the Greek Codis. Just his second game at the moment. Had his debut on match day six in Kaiser Slon but came off injured after nine minutes. So those two weeks with the international break have done him the power of good. Managed to come back to full fitness. Sina Tolken for from Uglen trying to get past his opponent here but once again excellent work there. Oppo coming to aid and help Iden all the way from Citiz. This is a very very young track brownwike starting 11 today. To be honest, it's the youngest starting 11 they've had in 39 years. Average age bang on 24 years of age. Let's see whether that youth will help Lars Ketka collect another victory. They've only had one as mentioned opening match day. What a day it was. And since then just one more point collected. Tim Valdis Keel still waiting for that first victory. >> The last victory of the second tier was actually on the 2nd of May this year at home against Brownike. on day Phil Harris scored both goals 160 days ago done well there again the Greekis nic one of the four new members to the squad in the starting 11 here today. Two of those out of necessity. Davidson is off injured. David Sets was the man who got booked twice in that game last time out. One of the reasons they didn't manage to win that game. They had so much possession as well. Something they've been having right throughout the campaign so far. 55% of the time they've had the ball, but doing something with it has been the problem. It's an exchange here between the two goalkeepers. That is Timon Ver who's on his 50th Bundesliga 2 game today. Nic. >> Good long ball. Great vision. Not easy for Kapali to keep in. Too much flight on height and height. But otherwise the idea from Nekage was wonderful. >> Free kick taker Mari. That's a drop ball here after the referee got involved. Excellent ball control that youngster has. The 21-y old very creative as well. I like his aggressive style on the ball against the ball. But they've lost that ball here. Brown swag. And to the rescue comes Hoffman. Oh, that is a mistake and it's GOING TO BE PUNISHED. OH, IT IS NOW THE OPENING GOAL. THE ONE THAT WAS denied has been bought back by Yan Orish. He scored a great goal in the opening stages of this game only to find out that he was in an offside position. But what a mistake here from Holstein Ke. A gift. An absolute present. How on earth you can pass a ball back like that? I don't know. picked out by Yan Or who was quick to react. Goal number four for him this season and he took it ever so well. That's basically his second goal of the day by the first one as we know was chalked off for a slide offside. Well, mistakes can happen. >> Mside take the lead. It's not long ago that some of the players from Holstein Ke were talking about regaining promotion back to the Bundesliga. Jeremiah Tolken was one of those. Crowd did not like that. They said go out and fight. Good ball here. Sakina. Branchwa can clear after just drawing at home in the game before the international break against Osnab who only just came out of division three into the second tier. The crowd were not happy at all. Like I said, Jai Tolken said in an interview that yeah, but we were unlucky and uh talking about we are still pushing for promotion and quite a lot of the crowd were yeah a bit peeved about that. We've seen banners recently as well in the stadiums where crowd have been urging Keel to basically fight for the lives. And you know what I have the feeling actually that that is something they have been doing >> but at times they've lacked that quality nei Madson. Just his third appearance. Just his second start as well. Verson out early shock conceding inside what was it 11 minutes. It could have been two chase on here for Capraik. Beaten back well by D Meri Sanchez. Right in front of L Ka's view there in comes Ivan Nek with a bit of a shove on Yan Storm. Another one of those interesting talents. The number seven like his attacking style. The young man is not afraid to shoot as well when he gets the opportunity. He hasn't had one yet, but keep an eye on the number seven for Branchwag. One of those prospects that I think has a big future in front of him. Here we go again to Benadetto. Almost lost the ball. Back with Mckennis Sanchez. Max Marie. This is Jan Storm. No way through this time for Dere Sanchez. They >> do collect a corner. Not happy with himself there that the not able to keep the ball in play. Guy the Argentine gives away a first call of the day. Well taken too. >> Well, they're getting crosses in there and down that left hand side, Dean Mcki Sanchez. Let's watch this again. It was so close, wasn't it, for that opening goal, but you can see here the shoulder just about offside there from Yan Obby. Lovely goal, but then he did go and score his first goal after that awful back pass there from Ivan Nek. It was delivered on a plate for him. It was a perfect pass, but yeah, from the wrong man. That's something that Florian Flick will do all day. Great timing. One of those players wearing a brown spike shirt that you always know will give absolutely everything until the end of the day. That man too, Max Marie, very impressed with him. Just turned 22 at the beginning of uh this month on the 2nd of October. managed to collect a couple of assists in Bundesliga 2 already, but it's the way he gets involved. >> It's going back to the goalkeeper Veric Sakina. Nicely done. Good work there from Barci. Can't find Kapraik though. He's a bit disappointed. The Slovakian. He's also one of those players to watch down the right hand side. Does a lot of running. Has quite a lot of pace as well and can also deliver from that position. None so far yet. He doesn't have the service. Well, it wasn't counting before, but that is the 13th goal of the campaign for Brownswag Stein. Ke have a measly seven so far. Good move. Still falls KINDLY HERE FOR STORM. You can see what he feels about it here. There's a lack of concentration here from Ke at the moment and I'm pretty sure that coach Tim Valta has noticed that as well at the moment the way things stand if this should be a one- n defeat. It is they who occupy 16th spot and all of a sudden Brownwike jumped from that position up to eight. 13 goals scored, 13 goals conceded. Once again, it's the stalks of Holstein Ke who have had an awful lot of the ball. The brownswag have been well simply clinical. >> Just saw a stat there as well. Quite interesting. Not only have they had 70% possession, but they've been passing at a 90% success rate. Apart from that one awful pass from Ian Nek that gifted Orish his goal. >> Football is a crazy sport sometimes. Paku Mari first time touch trying to feed it forward for Orish. >> Now they got to defend. Here's Pacy Capraik. does get the ball into the box this time, but branch can clear. Storm gets involved. Do a lot of running. Also, Samueli de Benadetto. There's always something about being at home for Branchwag. The crowd are fantastic. It's always a lively, wonderful stadium to be in. It's also the stadium where they tend to take the lead quite often. They've done that once again here today. The Elsa did it in the last couple of home games against Dresdon and also against Herta. Picked up a point against Dston in that game though and lost against Herta here. What could have been six points ended up being just one. The Argentine again. By coming forward, stopped dead in his tracks. Brownike defending well so far. Hoffman Hiden Hansson with the pass trying to find his mate Turken can't quite seem to get into his groove at the moment. Jonas Tleslson Norwegian came with high hopes to the club. Managed four girls last season. At the moment, he's managed one this term, but has not been in top form. Sanchez was there again. It's a traveling lot from Kale Sakina. Good from Ug continues his run. If they can keep that in, there might be something on here. >> So, ball lost by De Benedetto. That ball has to be circulated quickly, but it's given back to the opponents again. And here goes Apako steaming down the right as well. didn't quite come off as intended with those two, but decent move anyway. Lovely run that from Iden playing catch up with Aron Apaku who's quite a pacey player himself. >> That is a collision the referee might have to have a look at. at the moment. Playing the advantage here for the visitors and brilliant tackling saves the day. But yeah, finally there's the Argentine. Gali has been down for some time now as well. Looked like a nasty clash to me. He came from New's old boys at the start of this season but had been on loan before that in Greece. That is what you call determination from Kevin Aers. So the Greek Cidis getting some information from Lars Ketka, >> but otherwise they've been defending very well. Let's hope that Arley can get back on his feet. Don't think we need to see the replay again, do we? Ouch. Marie got up a little bit quicker, but he knew too it hurt. So, it's going to take him a while before he can come back again. But he still looks a little bit dazed to me. It's always the same really when you get that knock on the side of the head. >> Yeah, >> difficult to recover quickly. Here's Storm. beaten by Capablanic. Murray chasing in and fouling his opponent too. Yellow card. First yellow of the day. Goes to Max Murray. That is his second of the campaign. He's just enough. Ran out of steam and then a little shove. Mars Ketka complaining to the fourth official Christian Baldick. Anyway, they got the free kick. Capral will take. Who can get on the end of it? That's a good ball. Not quite the header itself though, but otherwise that could have one been one way of redeeming yourself. Ivan Nicit, the man who gifted the opening goal for Brown. Water with the header off man. They're well organized there in defense at the moment at branch. Mike >> from Tolken. Edison Flick but back with Turklson. Sakina. That's a good long ball from Tulken. Can they utilize this? We haven't really seen that great goal scorer Phil Hannis in a good position yet, but that's an excellent ball. Ammer setting up Harris once again guarded well here by Brownswag and again the Greek could see this. So, we're playing over half an hour and we're still waiting for that first shot. on goal from Holstein Ke was caught there but decided to get back on his feet as quickly as possible. Yeah. Yeah. A no messing challenge I would call that from Madson. The problem is these days for players is of course if you can't if you come off the pitch for treatment you got to wait to get back on again. And uh I did the rules good because quite often how many times have we seen players down on the pitch and we know they're not really injured but in that situation Yan Orish certainly got some pain there. So loose ball dealt with Bonoli Sakina dispossessed. This is Storm. At the moment he's on his own. Can't get the shot away. Apocal deflected. Keil can clear. Little slip there from Tolken. Picked up by Diki Sanchez. Ron Maltman. And we got another man down. Not quite sure what happened to Samoi De Benadetto there, but you can see here that L Ketka not happy. Outstretched boot again there from
