Inside Bodø/Glimt's stadium: how they squeeze in 20 VIPs for a Champions League night
The host tours Bodø/Glimt's compact old ground with a club representative, moving from the offices to the away section, the VIP area, the players' tunnel, the mixed zone and the press room. The guide repeatedly stresses how tight the arena is and how much has been improvised for a Champions League visit — locked-away seats in the away end, a players' tunnel that has to be partially taken apart for TV, and a brand-new translation booth bought only last season.
- All away-section seats have to be locked down — The seats are hard metal, and when the home fans celebrate a goal they lean back hard enough to flip the seat backs, so they have to be fixed in place for safety
- Alcohol cannot be sold anywhere in the stadium by law — Only the VIP section is exempt, and a bottle of water there costs around €5
- Bodø/Glimt can only offer Dortmund 20 VIP seats — The VIP block already belongs to the club's own supporters, so the only patch big enough for the visiting party fits a maximum of 20 people
- The whole VIP section plus staff on a Champions League night holds only 50–70 people — They may invite another 15–20 sponsors, but the arena simply can't fit more
- The players' tunnel and mixed zone are temporary builds for Champions League matches — The existing tunnel is so tight that parts have to be removed so the broadcast team can set up their cameras and the mixed zone; extra fencing has to go up around it
- The translation booth was bought new only last season — The club never had one before and had to purchase it specifically for their first Champions League campaign

So you can just open up here. So you only have a very small VIP area. >> Yeah, exactly. >> Okay, >> that's that's the life in this old arena. >> But uh >> pretty much the the the entrance will be outside in the middle and then >> your guests will come through that door. >> Okay. >> And then there's another door for the champions club. So what we usually do is uh we have like a bar >> over here by the entrance. >> Okay. >> And then your seats, it's the only way where only place we can fit 20 people. Okay. >> So, your you will have like a long table here. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Uh right by the entrance and then our board usually sit in here. >> Okay. So, they're very close to >> very close to each other. >> Okay. >> And then there's not that many other guests. So, we maybe invite 15 20 sponsors, but that's it. And then there's a players lounge with a family of players in that room. >> So, it's pretty much only 50 60 70 people in there. So this is the weight res. >> Yeah. >> So the kit van can park just outside there and we can open those doors. So it's uh >> Okay. >> 5 m to bring all the stuff in. >> Is it fine for you if we make some pictures? >> Yeah. It doesn't look like it now, but this is the player's entrance.
