What's happening guys? Welcome to the football hub. We've just finished watching Newcastle versus Liverpool and a late penalty has meant it has finished 2-2. I'm joined by Kia Nahan and Connor. >> What a match. That was not bad. Not bad. >> Raise the heart rate a little bit. Just a little bit. >> Just a little bit. You've really calmed down now after your I feel relaxed. It was >> Come on, Dom. Come on, Tom. >> I [laughter] was I was stressed during it, but no. Um, it was a point where we didn't deserve it at all. It was a pathetic performance to say the least from Liverpool. Um Newcastle to be fair to them were unbelievable considering that the squad have been kind of torn apart as well. Um but I will definitely take the point from a Liverpool perspective. >> So frustrating honestly so [laughter] jammy Liverpool every time. No but yeah you managed to get a draw somehow. Don't know how. >> Yeah. Guys let us know as well what you made of this game in the comments. Please get involved. We want to hear from you. We want to know about all your opinions from all of the games this weekend too. But a lot of late drama there. So let us know what you were thinking. Let us know how you thought Newcastle were getting on, how Liverpool did, how their seasons could could end up because I think before that >> many people had written, hadn't they? They've been food chained as such [laughter] throughout this summer. Yeah. It' been it'd been a bit of a rough summer. >> Yeah. If I'm a Newcastle fan right now, I know like I'll be quite devastated about what just happened, but once the dust settles, I feel quietly confident. I think there was a lot to >> lot to like about that performance, especially Vissa. Oh, I don't know where I don't know where that performance came from. He's revived his entire Newcaster [laughter] with As soon as they took him off, they gave away a penalty, by the way. I'm just saying. >> Crazy. Yeah, it was night and day in comparison to last season how they spent a lot of money on him. People were still doubting him. The 60 million odd fee that they paid for a 30-year-old in his last year. >> But I think yeah, now that if they can show those levels throughout the season, look, they still need a lot of players still. Newcastle, they still have a lot of work to do, but it is positive signs, especially with against the Liverpool side where they thought they would get beaten against. Yeah, >> happy with it. Pardon? >> Yel Bull new manager in I think he was under tough conditions coming into it with um barely any players coming in, loads of players coming out and obviously the World Cup as well hampens his preparations into the season, but it is something to build on definitely. They weren't amazing. Norway, Liverpool either, but [laughter] amazing. No, they set up they set they set he set Newcastle up perfectly in comparison to what we he was uh with the tools he had in to be able to play on the counterattack as well. >> Look, are Newcastle going to challenge for Europe? I don't think so off that performance still because they still do need a lot of players. But it is it is a valuable point in the long season ahead. But I do think we shouldn't get too carried away just yet. >> I don't know. I think they're doing they'll do better than what we've expected. But I know I definitely I don't think they do as well. But from that game, I'm seeing I'm seeing some promising stuff. >> There was promising stuff. Of course, I'm not taking anything away from Newcastle despite how bad Liverpool were. But >> the way Newcastle played was kind of the only way they could have played against Liverpool in that way going on the counterattack. And it's where they come up up against teams that will sit back like your Coventry, your holes, your IPSes [laughter] to name a few to name a few. Started >> those types of teams will cause problems against Newcast because they are lacking creativity in the midfield as well. >> You weren't exactly blooming in creativity. >> No, no, exactly. I'm not a rock and about Liverpool [laughter] here either. We were awful and that performance does show that a lot of things need to be done. However, from Newcastle perspective, they also still need a few more signings coming in. Um, I wouldn't say the owners and stuff should look at that performance go will be okay because they won't be they still need a few more coming in. And that's that's the point I'm trying to get at. It's more from the fact of they still need more in order to advance up the league. >> Eriola, you know, first Premier League game for Liverpool. >> Yeah, you could tell there wasn't handprints all over that Liverpool squad yet. that might come. But I think fitness levels of Liverpool and other teams that have played that go deep into the World Cup, a bit like United yesterday as well, Spurs. These teams just look so much >> less fit than the other teams that didn't have players. That Liverpool team that was not a team that was running quite a lot. Like I think Newcastle obviously very unfortunate not to get the win, but the fact that Liverpool got a point out of that, it felt a little bit like a heist to be completely honest. Heist. [laughter] >> That's how it felt. it. >> Yeah, it really was a well earned not well earned point. Sorry. It was a point that we snatched away from Newcastle. Yeah, by far if and a lot of teams will struggle to go there because it is St. James Park regardless of the squad in play, the manager or whoever. It's St. James's Park away. It is tough and last season we only won from a last minute winner from Rio the season before. We struggled. We did get a few points there, but I think a lot of teams will struggle to go there. So, I'm glad that is over over in Dunworth straight away from the first game [laughter] of the season. Although I did come into this game thinking we will win considering the squad that play but look I'll take the point and run away. >> What did you you just said about before the game you thought they were going to come in and win. What what about the season as a whole as a Liverpool fan? Were you excited under Eurola? Were you what were you expecting from this season? >> Yeah, I think the excitement levels was high in in comparison to last season as well. We saw what did Bournemouth took Bournemouth to sixth played amazing attacking football which Liverpool kind of fans thrive under. We love being passionate, love watching attacking football and there was the expectation coming into the season that he'll implement it as well. But we saw with Bournemouth as well took them about 10 15 games to kind of click into gear and came out to said that these players can only run about for 30 minutes as well. So it is a long way to go from my expectations to kind of live up to what Liverpool need. But look, if you can get Champions League football, I think a lot of Liverpool fans will be happy. >> Fitness the big talking point. I know you're saying leggy, but >> if we move on to another game that happened this weekend, kids nodding. >> Here [laughter] we go. >> Here we go. Uh Manchester United losing 2-0 away at Hall City, guys. Again, we're going to go over all the Premier League games. So, let us know in the comments what you made of your team's game, of the other teams. Just let us know. We'll get back to you in the comments. Manchester United go. >> Gosh. I mean, I feel like we need to give credit to Hull. [laughter] Let's not talk about United right now. Let's give all the credits. No, but seriously, they played >> Yeah, let's start on a good point. >> Defensively solid the whole game. Like, we just didn't look like we were going to ever >> actually score. Um, yeah, I thought >> that's what they do. >> Yeah, I know. [laughter] Two games last season nil draws like that's just what they do. More by the Tigers. [laughter] >> Happened to the best of us. >> But I think that's a good point though. If you've not seen Hull in the Championship last season, that's how they played. That's literally they they played all season like that. They didn't try and come up to the Premier League as a promoter tide and play this extravagant football that just never works. >> Yeah, I really thought they might come in and just try hide away from the ball maybe. I I didn't know what to expect. I've got to be completely honest. And >> Bernie ball, mate. [laughter] >> Bernie, it's lethal. >> He loves to go against United. I can't honestly. >> But then that's probably how Hull should play in this league. as much as everyone wants to watch attacking football, but then there they want to stay up and staying up regardless of how you play football for those types of teams. You want to stay in the Premier League and kind of make a name for yourself and be household. But um again, it only is game week one as bad as United were as well. >> It's early days guys. The cop is [laughter] together just start next [laughter] week. I have said >> it was a Tielemans and Santos though that didn't work. I do still think like we'll get on to transfers but we do definitely still need that Casemiro replacement don't we like yeah anyway >> overran in that midfield but >> as you were going into the season how excited were you as a United fans I feel like a lot of the discourse was very much that oh you know we could be up there we could be challenging we could be this and >> I was buzzing 21's >> coming 21 [laughter] is well I won't say that now I'll say second place might be coming who knows I don't know [laughter] yeah I'm always quite confident going into like especially this season I feel like the fans really do believe in Carrick even myself included, I do think, you know, he could potentially take us all the way. Um, but we do need players if we're going to do that because we've got a lot of games. We're in Europe, you know, back in the Champions League. Um, so yeah, we're just going to have to wait and see, won't we, >> how we do. >> I I do think that is probably the biggest factor, playing every three days cuz last season they were playing once a week and sometimes, as we were joking about, once a month, [laughter] >> given international stuff, but no, it does it does have a massive impact. Um, obviously for Carrick, he has a whole week to prepare for games. The players know what they're doing. >> Um, and this is also open for as well. He's never played three games every 3 days as well. Uh, and in Europe, so that could be a huge factor in how well we do in the season. But >> yeah, United squad as well as Liverpool's do not look great at all. >> What do you think of Marcus Rashford coming back on? I thought he looked quite sharp when he came on. He kind of changed the game a bit. Yeah, I think you know this more than me, but I think if United fans weren't really happy about it, but I think it's a decent option off the bench if he's happy with being [laughter] >> better. You don't think he should start >> over Kuna and Bremo and then Cesco? >> I don't think so. I think I think the Rashford race is done now in terms of United. It's not 2020. >> He is. Look, I think he is fantastic technically. It's just whether he can contribute that week in week out and >> it's different ball game league and a Premier League and like Connor said it's I don't think >> Barcelona mate Gordon plays for Barcelona [laughter] >> he doesn't want to be there also he he openly said he didn't want to play for Man United. No, but I think he's handled it with grace going back. He's got the number nine shirt. I think >> handled it with grace. Does he not? No one wants him. >> I think Marcus Rashford for me is still a top top forward. >> Agreed. >> On his day. >> On his day. >> On his day. >> But that's we've had on his day. [laughter] >> But then we have these conversations all the time where players come back to the club and they don't really hit >> the mark as they should. And I feel like the chapter should have been closed with Rashford. >> And I I know it came out on X for >> It still could be. Yeah, it could be. The window's still open. >> Are you happy with Rashford being back? >> Yeah, I'm happy with him being >> Is that because he's from Manchester and if he was from anywhere else would that >> No, it's not. But is I'm not going to lie is a factor. You know, we we love having homegrown players in the squad. I think it's such a part of like [laughter] >> No, don't go that far. No, but is a part of, you know, our United DNA. We've always, you know, we're a club that's known for having academy players coming through constantly. You know, we've got like that record. I don't even know how many years. But yeah, I I'm happy with Rashford's coming back in this one. I think he actually played well relatively. [laughter] I mean, obviously we lost, but you know, I think he wasn't he wasn't that bad. Okay, it's early days. All right. Please, please. >> Well, I mean, stinker of an opening weekend for Manchester United. >> Speaking of stinkers, we can move on to a few of us as well. Tottenham. Yeah, that was a rough because I think again the excitement similar to United probably not as much given back to back 17th place finishes but >> spent a lot of money. >> Yeah, >> new manager deserve ball. I know he had we saw him last season keep them up but >> it's >> Yeah, I would be worried. I would be worried because with the other ones as well like obviously Liverpool didn't play so well. I know they got a point. United you could probably just put it down to they'll probably beat Ipsswitch next week. Spurs >> last season they almost lost their entire club. I think if they went down that would have been it. So they've done this all this business and everything. They've built their fan base back up. I know so many Spurs fans that were so excited. So to put in a performance that bad, which I think was probably the worst performance of the weekend. Villa probably the only ones that rival it. That performance was there was nothing to be like you'd look performances sometimes. Okay, there was that there was that. There was nothing. They gave their fans nothing after he didn't. He said we're not a team. >> It it was really bad and all the new signings were really bad as well. And I understand Brenford's one of the hardest places to go in the league. Like make no mistake, that was one of the hardest games they probably could have got. But that could have been about six or seven by by the end of the game. That was that that was as one-sided as you could probably get this opening weekend. >> Do you think it was cuz they've signed too many players in one goal or did they need to sign that many players? >> They needed to because of how bad and how thin the squad was and how bad their injuries are. But I don't I don't understand what happens. like when they put on a Tottenham shirt, they [laughter] just have to be to explain it because the history of the time. [laughter] >> There's just something about playing for Spurs at the minute. Like, if I'm them right now, it's like the weirdest scenario cuz their ceiling was quite high and their floor was really low going into the season. You think, are we going to transfer Europe? Are we going to be in a relegation battle? At the minute, I would be [laughter] so sure. Like, they could be they could be in for another one. >> I think I think a lot of clubs in this league currently are just you just can't predict where they could go. >> The league Oh, yeah. this time around is crazy. I think even from a title race perspective, I think we'll go on to this like Arsenal could run away with it, but you couldn't like realistically pick out their >> challenges. I think we've got record like nine new managers in the >> show. I'm so excited for the season like to just properly get started like [laughter] >> next week. >> If you lose to week after [laughter] we'll get to international break and we still >> No, it's true. But yeah, Spurs, at least we can count on them to, you know, take the heat off of us [laughter] a little bit. >> Well, you've not only got Spurs, but Villa as well. That first half today gets brighter. My god, my phone was popping off with the goal notifications then. Honestly, four-0 down in the first half, down to 10 men. >> That is a tricky start for the season for them and Emory. >> I think a lot of people would have been surprised at the result because a lot of people predict the Villa to finish in top five as well. But I think people have forgotten how dismantled their squad is getting as well. Ollie Watkins probably wants to leave. Collins has gone out to Arsenal as well and losing Tielemans as well, another one >> and you just look at that. Martinez, you don't know what's going on with him as well now. So there's a lot of >> unsuress about them right now and I think it doesn't really help uni situation. >> Yeah, you're right. Because when that lineup come out earlier today, I looked at it and I was like, "Hang on a minute. Where's everyone?" They had [laughter] that Gomez in the in the middle from Wolves who probably put in the worst Premier League deb [laughter] for two goals and got sent off in the first half. He was awful. And I was looking at that squad thinking like this is like a team that came what fifth, sixth, then fifth and now they're in the Champions League. I was like this is bad. They have not replaced any of them. I had a hot take not long ago where I was like Emry could be sacked this season and Villa could be like down there. And today I felt vindicated that that [laughter] >> happened to be honest. >> Yeah, you might be on to something then. But seriously, [laughter] we'll get on to hot takes, but I did I'm not surprised with Villa [clears throat] and that game. I did think that they were going to struggle this season and it's looking like that might be the case. >> Yeah, it's the defense as well. Cons has gone. They look bad. >> Yeah, Lindelof didn't cover himself in glory in that game at all, but Brighton looked Brighton looked really good and I think again a club that over the summer can go under the radar a bit, but really solid transfer business. >> Looked solid today. I Villa looked really bad. So, it's kind of where Brighton really good or Villa really bad, but >> they could be still for a European place again. They could they could challenge for Europe and especially if they keep Ma once he comes back from injury. Now Liverpool are kind of looking down the camera trying [laughter] to a little enticement but now he I think Brighton they play fantastic football they always have under Herzler as well and it would be good for them and the fan base to kind of kick on because they have kind of teased getting into Europe but I think this could be the season where especially now the conference league is available can they push on to get into there? >> Mhm. >> Let's go to your team then. [laughter] I had to give it a dramatic pause. So long ago, but >> it does feel like ages ago now to be fair. >> How did it feel on the night? 3-0 away to us. >> No, you know what? It was still It was still a special night. Don't get me wrong. First game back in 25 years. It was a setup from the Premier League. Why are we [laughter] Why are we Why the whole world watching? Why have we got Arsenal away the the the champions? And like people after the game were saying like, "Yeah, but CV created nothing. They got the best defense on the planet. We're newly promoted. What more did you want from us?" But uh no, I wouldn't read too much into it as a CO fan for that game. I think >> um we were always going to lose to be completely honest and uh they probably could have scored a few more. I think they kind of didn't really get out of second gear as if I'm being honest, but uh I'm not panicking over that. It'd be quite silly of me to panic over that. We have Hull at home on Saturday. We lose that, I'll panic. >> Do you think that's a must win already? >
