that's the best way to uh get all of her content because you know she's on loads of different channels but today of course guys you know we are we're going to be discussing a big big game barcelona versus atletico madrid massive game in the title race the total race in la liga you know it's getting crazy now it's heating up at the top and without any further ado kendall thank you so much for joining us today and uh let's hear your general thoughts basically is a nice little intro coming into this massive clash um you know thank you for having me genuinely um it's my pleasure and yeah this is there's been a couple of games where i thought you know this is like basically the title winning game obviously when we played film we did a couple of games ago i was like yeah you know this is the title title winning game now i'm at the point where this is also a title winning game so i think obviously at this point in the season every single game is absolutely crucial um but yeah this one will if it's a draw that obviously gives real madrid a little bit of leverage because they've got sevilla at the weekend as well um so all you know all top four teams are kind of playing each other at this this weekend but yeah i'm pretty i'm nervous about it now and everyone's always you know calling us bottlers and the tottenham of the league and i'm just i'm just not having can't deal with that this year yeah it's been it's been crazy hasn't it what happened what happened to atletico because i remember back in back in december we we gave you suarez he was scoring all the goals we were here with no striker and ryan and barcelo were losing and you guys were so far clear he looked certain that you were going to win the league but i mean to be fair barcelona and cumin in 2021 won a lot of points a lot and a lot of points you know we racked up a lot of wins but you slipped up in some big games as well now barcelona slipped up as well against granada it's all crazy but on an athletical point of view what what happened you know what do you think it's the reason or or can you describe what happened this season um so i guess this is probably going to be a lot of excuses for a lot of teams but um between january and february obviously there was a massive corporate corvette outbreak at the club which left a lot of key players specifically um out for a long a lengthy amount of time um and then players like carrasco got injured and joe felix he also obviously passed the corvid outbreak he also then got injured and a couple of suspensions like suarez and you know a couple of others were suspended um it just all went bad savage was injured for a while and it yeah it just injuries and the amount of games obviously there was champions league games still to be played at that point and which almost admit atletico were absolutely embarrassed in the champions league and really badly and you know everyone was coming into it saying oh atletico chelsea never going to beat them and we were embarrassed of both legs that was the first leg was literally a week after pretty much everyone had come back from corvid and there was still a couple of people suffering um so as i said that that's going to be the excuse for a lot of clubs because it's happened everywhere but um unfortunately it happened to us at the worst time because i think the first when the first coronavirus case was confirmed at the club we were actually 12 points clear at that point yeah um and it just went absolutely downhill from there we look a couple of results like um when we played um bilbao like we should never have like that that result should never have been that result but it just yeah it's just the way it is and you know you've gotta depend on luck a lot of the times and unfortunately um it just hasn't gone our way this year but we're still there we're still ahead two points ahead so you know it's not the end of the world right now but after this gamer ask me again i might have changed my mind by that point yeah i i think i think you're right it's been it's been crazy really because like we were saying you know atleti did seem so far away but i think you made a good point actually you know people will call it excuses but it is true you did have that covert outbreak also i think the the the trippier band was was a big one as well wasn't it because uh with the formation you've been playing this year it's like if he isn't playing right wing back then like i know you tried like yourente there as well uh for a few games and stuff but i don't know it felt like when trippy wasn't there you certainly weakened as well um i know he wasn't there for i think the first leg of the chelsea game in the second as well actually but anyway yeah so like i think yeah you've missed players and like i say i think i think basser also racked up a load of points and that that just you know put a load of pressure on atleti who obviously aren't used to being so far clear at the top la liga but you know like like you say four games left and like if atletico win on saturday that that will probably be that you know we won't say anything in this la liga season we feel whoever really ends up perhaps top after this match week you mention a severe game as well against rael whoever ends up top after this one you know with three games left you'd you mean you'd hope wouldn't you that that they'd go on to win it but like i said with this windy match weaker you never really know um i want to get you i want to get your thoughts now coming into this game against barcelona how do you how do you see us right now are you as an atletico fan nervous or are you thinking we can hurt barcelona here we can get a big three points here or are you thinking this is this is gonna be you know a stressful watch you know what your thoughts coming in from an outsider's point of view coming into play ronald kuhlman of barcelona um you know when when kuhlman first obviously went there as manager it was something i was a bit like wow really like i i kind of got why and i understood why and it was like yeah okay but i just thought wow like ronald kerman for example obviously if you follow the premier league as well you'll know from premier league days you just think really like management like that's crazy everyone said barcelona um but honestly as you say 2021 has been a completely just a turn of events for you guys um you the form has picked up the formation and sort of the the system seems to have settled a little bit because there was a lot obviously when suarez left and you know there was kind of it was all up in the air a little bit when you know in the champions league and things like that it was just wow like what is going on um but yeah you seem to have settled a lot now the results have picked up and the form over the last five games has been a little bit better um so yeah i'm slightly nervous because it's these big games where we unfortunately seem like we can't cope with it um i don't know why obviously we drew with drew with real madrid a couple of games ago as i said and um it's it's going to be a case of settling the game early if we want to um win like comfortably but i just with obviously the likes of messi and things like that it's never easy you know you can't really judge what's going to happen at all so yeah and we've just got to hope that we're cohesive that we our system as it works as a unit which is obviously simion you know philosophy work as a unit rather than individual brilliance um and fingers crossed it goes our way but you know i'm not um holding out any hope for a comfortable win or anything like that yeah yeah i think i think there could be but just a goal in this game really it's obviously gonna it's obviously gonna be a massive one how do you think you'll approach the game actually because a draw doesn't really suit either of us a draw just almost hands the title to real madrid which none of it none of us won't let let's be honest here you know if we don't win it i want you guys to win it so that's that's the way it is and um will that mean that atletico coming to this game and don't sit back as much because like you said in these sorts of games that's something simionic can do you know we've seen it before and do you think he could actually attack barcelona you've got the players to do it you've certainly got the pace to do which barcelona don't like i'm looking at your entei really is the guy for me the guy the guy's a machine so how do you think you'll approach the game it was interesting so this is what i wanted in the second leg of the champions league when we played chelsea i wanted us to go out and attack the game and stretch chelsea wide because at that point two colored obviously would have been a couple of months but he hadn't drilled the defense as he has now they've got one of the best defenses in europe currently on form and this is how i would like to attack this game but i feel like probably as i say with the threat of the likes of messi and obviously he's always going to be the tiger man everyone's always going to mention messi and but with the likes of messi we can't afford to become complacent at the back um so the whole wing back structure i'm not entirely sure is going to come into play this game i think it might just be you know a solid back four possibly um because we have like shifted and changed with the back three in a back four um obviously throughout the season just with injuries things like that currently the only long-term injury i think that we've got um is rina and loddy so i think everybody else is pretty much fit obviously john felix's should be back to match fitness now after his ankle injury um so yeah it would be as i say i would like to go in and attack the game and you know maybe get the first goal because that will just settle us down a little bit um but unfortunately if we concede first it i'll find it'll be uphill battle from there because that seems obvious to say but some teams like in the second half and some like newcastle united my team for example we've got the most second half goals um in the premier league this season so you know some times it's better to continue early because then you come later but with that plenty quotes it's not like that um unfortunately we don't seem to concede first a lot and um we end up losing the games that we concede first so um yeah i would like to attack the game but as i say i would like to attack it and stay cohesive as a system and in formation because then if we if we ever lose a little bit of complacency at the back it'll just be getting older than that yeah yeah that's that's interesting because i do wonder what what simiano will go for i know obviously he's gonna he he's gonna build the foundations on a solid you know backline that you know that's that's what he's so good at um but yeah you make an interesting point because i think loddie could be out injured and if he is then will it be back for you will it be back three it's almost like a hybrid what you play sometimes isn't it because like sometimes you have if you if lodi's left wing back then it's more of a back five but if carrasco's left wing back then it's almost like he goes way further up and then if you've got if you've got him also a left center back then he can kind of like shift over to the left back sometimes corkey kind of drops deep as a dm like that's what happens if carrasco is there so yeah it'll completely depend on i'm always wrong i always think i know what simeon is going to do and he never does what i think um so yeah i'm always pretty much he just chops and changes a lot um so yeah we'll see it'll be very interesting yeah yeah or on formation i think it will be because you mentioned earlier as well barcelona ourselves we've also been using about three a lot of late um that's that's kind of been not not entirely but it's been a big reason actually of of why we've been so good in 2021 you know we've had some bad results the psg game was a disaster um you know the first layer of the copper del rey didn't go well but we turned it around we won the competition the granada game was a big kick in the teeth really a massive one you know i think that's still kind of got our fan base down if i'm being honest you know we're we're on the floor after that one really but i think again cumin will line up with it with a back three tomorrow and it could be back three on back three i know yours is quite is like we said quite a hybrid so it kind of like shifts in and out but in and out of possession but it could be a back three on back three um you know i think from a barcelona point of view we've got to wait and see you know i think a big a big decision that the barcelona fans will certainly be thinking about is right wing back dest or sergio roberto i think from your point of view as an athletic fan when you've got carrasco down running on the left hand side surely you would prefer carrasco running against uh sergio roberto than death um and you know i think the barcelona fans would agree with you because roberto's been a character who you know he's it's not gone down well basically with him in the barcelona fan base of late and in a right-wing back row where you've got to be so mobile up and down um we sit on a chelsea system for example last night roberto just hasn't fit there and i think that is a key for tomorrow's game you know i i always think as a master and a fan that football's all about having the ball but physicality legs the pace is going to be big big in in saturday's game and i look at some of you some of your runners that you've got your entei and carrasco the main ones for me as a danger man of course you've got suarez up front you know suarez one of my favorite players for the last years what he did for barcelona was was brilliant um and yeah we all know better than anyone that if he gets a centimeter in the box he can score but those two against barcelona us fans always look for who's got pace because we just can't really deal with it longley pk roberto you know we've got leggy players at the back if you've got pace from behind i think that'll be key and i think simiano will recognize that so encounter attacks um yeah someone made a comment here carrasco maybe can't use his pace um against that as much as other centre-backs so maybe maybe we'll be playing our quicker players to try and counteract that i think i think that'll be an interesting point i mentioned a few of your key players there but who would you say are your key players going into tomorrow's game who would you pick out um and say you know this this guy could help us win a big game in la liga yeah i think you're absolutely right obviously on your own here he is probably my current favorite player at the club um there's just what he's what he's done this season and the influence that he's had over the team this season it is just phenomenal obviously the introduction of suarez has obviously helped because he is you know an offensive he's an offensive forward that's what he is he's a number you know a classic striker that that's just him and he weirdly when obviously that sign and happened i think what is going on i just that was something i did not see coming probably a lot of people didn't see that coming um but the introduction of him has completely allowed us for our offensive and defensive outputs to be very similar across the field and same with trippier he again premier league fans who don't watch the league a lot will look at me and think the honestly i've had that in the past like trip a year really i'm like honestly yeah if we play out from the back he is so vital to that element of player because if we play with like savage felipe jimenez him also they're all defenders whereas trippier for me obviously as a wing back which he like he likes currently a player yeah i'll play out from the back comes a lot from him and obviously being on that right hand side with your ante usually um then it works so yeah for me massively obviously as far as the entire carrasco all of the typical offensive players but yeah chippy for me is massively important as well yeah definitely i think from barcelona point of view i'll mention a few names and then i'd want to ask you actually is about as an athletical fan you know who are you scared of you know we we can't not mention messi this sort of game where barcelona need need it most you know i i would hate to have to play against him on this sort of occasion you know what can you do what you can just hope i mean atletico that they're best equipped i suppose than anyone to try and stop messi with with how good they are at the back but um you know messi is going to try and make the difference interesting one griezmann you know your old guy your old tennis man you know it didn't look like it was going so well from a barcelona but his class was kind of shunned through you know he's scoring a lot of important goals for barcelona almost what we wanted him when we signed him to do you know we just said get the ball in the back of the net for us mate and once we lost suarez we kind of lost that to be honest you know in the first part of the season especially after anderson fatty got injured you know we were just thinking someone put the ball in the back of the net for us please because it's messy crating and then it can't be messy finishing but griezmann's been getting a lot of goals and a lot of big goals so you know i'd say definitely him and also another one dae young is is a motor from midfield probably not the same like legs as yolente who's just you know an absolute machine but he's that sort of player who can you know drive with the ball and you know really get get him behind the defense and he makes some interesting late runs jordi alba as well you know i'm sure you guys know over the years you know messy to alba he loves that you know that's that's that's a classic so i'm sure you guys will be will be attentive to that one but you can include the guys i've mentioned there but who are the guys that you're looking out for uh as an athletic fan against barcelona yeah i think you're absolutely completely right because that is where the danger is going to come from obviously and the attacking danger is going to come from them deyoung is a player that i really really enjoy and i think even right now i don't even think he's that he's the best level he possibly can be and we've seen him you know a really really high level and that's just that'll just come because as i say you are settling down a lot more in terms of the way that you play and the style of player is becoming just a lot more effective than it has been previously well i think i think we've just uh lost connection i can't really hit oh there i think you're back here now sorry here we go it's undoing up to say but just this whole time i've got the white start swinging um but yeah absolutely griezmann for me as well because he will illness and yoni i know we've this season especially this style of players change but he'll know simion he'll understand it um and maybe he can you know find some space there yeah yeah definitely i i think you know obviously griezmann it's an odd one but you know against his former club that could be a big moment in the title race obviously barcelona got other players you know pedro's been a b
