Florian Wirtz's INCREDIBLE Stats! Craig Hits Back at Liverpool Critics

Anfield Agenda - Liverpool FC Podcast

Craig returns for another edition of Late Night Live, with Florian Wirtz's impressive performances, Liverpool's ownership situation and Alexis Mac Allister's future among the major talking points. The spotlight falls on Florian Wirtz, with Craig highlighting some extraordinary statistics from Liverpool's victory over Brentford. According to figures shared by Neil Mellor, Wirtz created nine chances from open play, the most by a player in an away Premier League match for 16 years. The German international also covered 13.2 kilometres, the greatest distance recorded by a Liverpool player in a match for three years and a full kilometre more than Wirtz had previously managed. Craig questions why the midfielder continues to attract criticism when his performances demonstrate such encouraging progress under Andoni Iraola. Attention also turns to Liverpool's ownership, with Craig discussing the reported investment by Amid Bhatia's consortium and the possibility of the new investors eventually taking a controlling stake. Could FSG's time as Liverpool's majority owners be approaching its conclusion, and would a change at the top provide the club with a clearer direction? There's also further discussion surrounding Alexis Mac Allister's contract situation, with Craig questioning Liverpool's approach to managing the futures of senior players. While acknowledging the need to refresh an ageing midfield, Craig argues that Liverpool cannot continue allowing valuable players to approach the end of their contracts without protecting their transfer value. With Liverpool preparing for their Champions League meeting with Villarreal, Craig also looks ahead to Andoni Iraola's selection decisions and the importance of maintaining momentum. Are Florian Wirtz's critics being proven wrong, and could Liverpool be approaching a new era under different ownership?
