Neville predicts apology over goal

Gary Neville believes the VAR officials were "wrong" to award Manchester City's winner at Manchester United in their 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.

And the Sky Sports pundit has predicted English football's officiating body, Pro Ref, will issue an apology for allowing Erling Haaland's goal.

The striker's goal was initially disallowed for offside on the pitch before VAR overturned the decision.

Martinez: We have to live with this injustice

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez to Sky Sports:

> "I think [Fernandez] was offside. What I can’t understand is the rules.

> "He was there! I went to him because he was in front of me. That’s why Haaland was free at the back.

> "I want to be calm but it is so hard. Every season the officials come to our club and spend an hour explaining the rules and they look so confident with that.

> "Then after, five or six people (officials) doing this kind of mistake in the Premier League is unacceptable.

> "We have to go home with this injustice."

When asked if Enzo wasn’t there would he mark Haaland: “Definitely, it’s as simple as that”

Haaland: I told ref I was offended he thought I was offside!

Man City's Erling Haaland speaking to Sky Sports:

> "I thought there was maybe someone who flicked it because I normally don't go offside, so I told Michael Oliver I took it a bit personally that he thought I was offside!

> "But I looked over to the gaffer and he gave me a thumbs up and I knew then it was a goal, so I prepared myself to go and celebrate.

> "It's always nice to win football games and I never take that for granted but, especially with 10 men at Old Trafford, it's a difficult task. It's so nice."

Haaland: Our midfield has fighters

Man City's Erling Haaland speaking to Sky Sports:

> "We had to change the plan a bit, but Enzo gave us a plan where we could play to our different strengths and counter-attack a bit more.

> "For me personally, I just had to be there, to try to wait for a chance, and if there's a chance, I had to be ready to execute.

> "We also needed fighters in the team, which we have plenty of. Look at our midfield - it's something they like to do!

> "I'm so, so proud of everyone.

> "Even with 10 men, we're still a good team and we showed that today. I think we even became sharper with 10 men.

> "That's how we have to play all the time, even with 11 men."

Anderson: We knew winning would feel good after Foden red

Man City's Elliot Anderson speaking to Sky Sports:

> "We always knew it was going to be a tough game. What happened with Phil at the start wasn't good for us, but we said at half-time it would make us feel better if we win and we've taken three points.

> "It just gives you more motivation to go on and get the points. It was really tough for us. We had to run more and fight more. We all shone, to a man, and we were brilliant."

Haaland: THAT showed personality

Man City's Erling Haaland speaking to Sky Sports:

> "This hasn't really happened a lot in my lifetime that we go down to 10 men, so it's a kind of new experience to win with 10 men. It's amazing. I have to be honest.

> "We had to lay low, which is not ideal. We like to keep the ball, we like to try to score goals, but these times, you have to go a bit lower and take your chances when it's possible. We managed to do that well.

> "This shows personality, character to keep the ball away at Old Trafford, with 10 men. That is personality."

Are referees struggling to implement their own rules?

Sky Sports' Sam Blitz at Old Trafford:

> "It's been a tough weekend for the Premier League officials.

> "Sunderland's penalty against Arsenal last night was so controversial and provoked a huge reaction from Mikel Arteta.

> "Now this Man City winner.

> "Two massive high-profile cases where it looks like the officials and Pro Ref are struggling to not only understand the rules they are adopting, but put them into practice when it matters.

> "And if they don't know, how are we meant to understand it?"

REPORT: Haaland scores controversial derby winner for Man City after Foden red

Erling Haaland's contentious winner earned 10-man Manchester City a derby win over rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford - after Phil Foden's controversial first-half red card.

Don't forget, Man Utd let this game slip

Sky Sports' Sam Blitz at Old Trafford:

> "The controversy of this game will rumble on.

> "But do not lose sight of the fact that Man Utd played three quarters of this derby with an extra man and failed to make it count.

> "They had some chances, and hit the woodwork twice, but United allowed City back into a contest they should never have been in.

> "Carrick has some questions to answer on that front."

Premier League table

Man City maintain their perfect start; Man Utd slip to 13th, having taken only four points from their first four.
