Man Utd: Lisandro Martinez Releases Statement After Meeting With Board and Carrick

Lisandro Martinez shares insights post-meeting with Manchester United leadership following recent transfer window concerns.

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has now released a statement on social media following his outburst after their game against Atletico Madrid.

Martinez called out Manchester United following their disappointing summer transfer window, even suggesting that he wants more from the technical director.

It was an explosive interview from Martinez after United suffered a 2-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

It's rare to see a player come out and criticise the club, and specifically the technical director.

United did spend a reasonable amount during the previous summer's transfer window, but they only brought in three new midfielders rather than strengthening other areas.

That's likely where Martinez's criticism was aimed, and it was a bold move from him to call out the club.

The Argentinian defender has now released a statement on Instagram , confirming he's met with the club's leadership and manager.

> “Today I met with the club's leadership and the manager. It was a very positive conversation, where we were able to exchange views and speak openly about what happened after Tuesday's game. Everyone knows that I am a passionate person and that I live football with great intensity. The frustration of the defeat led me to express how I felt at a time and place that perhaps were not the right ones, and for that I want to apologise. Our club is at its best when we are all united, and I recognise that my words in that moment did not help with that. I know that every single person at Manchester United is doing everything possible to achieve our shared ambition: bringing the success that this club and its supporters deserve. With this situation now behind us, we are fully focused on winning together."

GIVEMESPORT understands that Martinez is available for selection against Leeds United on Sunday if manager Michael Carrick opts to pick him.

Martinez has apologised, which is always helpful, and he considers the situation behind him. Whether it will be truly behind him going forward remains to be seen, especially when it comes to potentially leaving the club in the near future.
