Subsituted due to injury during last night’s Champions League match between AS Roma and Real Madrid (3-4), Manu Koné (25) is reported to have suffered a strain to his left thigh, according to Le Parisien .
A rather reassuring diagnosis for the midfielder, whilst some had suggested a possible tear that would have kept him sidelined for a longer period.
The former Toulouse FC player is nevertheless expected to be unavailable for several weeks and could even miss France’s next squad call-up, scheduled for next month.
Having been selected and played by Zinédine Zidane in three of the four Nations League matches played in September, Koné may therefore be forced to withdraw from the away match in Italy on 12th November and the home match against Turkey three days later.
At Roma, where he is a key member of Gianpiero Gasperini’s squad, Koné has started seven of the eight matches (scoring two goals) he has played since the start of the season.
