Enzo Maresca's side returned to the Etihad Stadium for the first time since the independent commission's guilty verdict, but it was an evening to forget as Paris Saint Germain ran out 4-2 winners in Manchester.
Former City boss Pep Guardiola returned to City for the first time in a show of support for his former colleagues, sitting alongside CEO Ferran Soriano and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
Elsewhere, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has been warned the chairman of the Independent Football Regulator, David Kogan, would resign if he came under political pressure over the City charges case.

UK Government issues Man City charges promise as Premier League fear comes to light
Lisa Nandy has confirmed the UK Government will not intervene in any decisions regarding the Manchester City case following the guilty verdict on financial charges. City have been found guilty on all counts of breaching the Premier League’s financial rules and 'the majority of charges' relating to failing to co-operate with the league’s investigation.
The Etihad club have lodged an appeal and claim to have a 'comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence' that supports their innocence. Prime Minister Andy Burnham raised eyebrows earlier this month when he said he would be 'really concerned' if City’s Abu Dhabi owners left following the commission verdict, emphasising the potential for this case to have implications for diplomatic and trade relations between the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
City points deduction warning fired
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has warned Manchester City that a potential points deduction would be 'multiple double figure' points deductions, and that's before any calculations have even taken place.
The independent commission found City guilty of all but one of their alleged charges for financial rule breaches, though the club maintain their innocence and have appealed that guilty verdict.
All eyes are now on that appeal and speculation continues as to what sanctions City might face, if the guilty verdict is upheld.
Football regulator David Kogan says he will QUIT if Andy Burnham interferes in Man City case
Football regulator David Kogan says he will quit if there is any Government interference in the Manchester City case.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham caused shockwaves after admitting he would be “really concerned” if the City owners decided to sell up after the club was found guilty of breaching Premier League spending rules.
Burnham, formerly the Mayor of Greater Manchester, has revealed he had a meeting with City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and the Abu Dhabi ownership has pumped millions into regenerating the area.
