Real Madrid could have an important advantage when they welcome Sevilla to the Santiago Bernabeu next Sunday, with the visitors confirming that Jon Guridi is set to miss the La Liga encounter through injury.
Jose Mourinho’s immediate priority remains the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against AS Roma .
However, the Madrid manager will also be assessing the situation ahead of the league fixture, where Sevilla are set to arrive without several players.
On that note, Guridi’s absence is a setback for the Andalusian side, particularly with other selection concerns emerging ahead of the trip to the Spanish capital.
Guridi injury rules midfielder out of Real Madrid clash
Sevilla have confirmed that Guridi has suffered an injury to the adductor longus muscle in his left thigh.

The midfielder is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks, making his availability for next Sunday’s meeting with Real Madrid highly unlikely.
His absence could weaken Sevilla’s options in midfield against a Madrid side looking to maintain their momentum in La Liga after beating Villarreal 1-0.
As such, the injury comes at an inconvenient moment for Sevilla, who are already dealing with other fitness and disciplinary issues ahead of the Bernabeu fixture.
Sevilla face further selection problems before Bernabeu trip
Notably, Guridi is not the only player Sevilla are expected to miss, as Miguel Sierra will also be unavailable for several months after suffering a shoulder injury against Levante, leaving the club without another option for the upcoming run of matches.
Furthermore, Isaac Romero is also set to miss the game against Real Madrid through suspension, further limiting Sevilla’s choices.
Meanwhile, Giorgi Kochorashvili did not train with the first team on Monday because of a muscle strain, although his issue is not expected to prevent him from travelling to Madrid.
Mourinho must manage his players after Roma test
Real Madrid, meanwhile, have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Sevilla match, although it must be noted that the likes of Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Raul Asencio and Ferland Mendy are still out.
However, the final squad selection will depend on how the Champions League encounter against Roma goes, with Mourinho needing to assess the condition of his players after the European fixture.
What is certain is that Vinicius Jr. will definitely be unavailable, as he serves his suspension following his red card against Villarreal.
