Real Madrid’s night has arrived, and Gasperini is preparing his final moves to face Mourinho.
At the Olimpico, Roma returns to the Champions League after seven years, with a lineup now almost finalized. Matías Soulé returns to the starting lineup, ready to partner Dybala and Malen in an attack expected to trouble Los Blancos’ defense.
The main uncertainties concern the flanks. Wesley is ready to move to the right to contain Vinicius, reviving a solution Gasperini already tested against Inter.
On the opposite flank, the race remains open: Molina is among the leading candidates, but Rensch is itching for a starting spot. Lulli is also in the running.
There are also some doubts in defence, where Ndicka and Hermoso currently seem favored over Balerdi to complete the defense alongside Mancini.
The midfield pairing of de Roon and Koné is confirmed, while Gollini, who played a key role against Como and is ready to return to Champions League football against Real Madrid, will once again be in goal.
On the other side, Mourinho is expected to rely on a 4-2-3-1, with Mbappé as the attacking focal point and Vinicius, Bellingham, and Guler behind him. This is a quality-rich lineup, against which Gasperini will try to play his cards in front of a crowd of 67,000 at the Olimpico.
