Premier League today: how to watch Sunderland v Arsenal, TV channels & live stream
· Guardian-PL
How will Sunderland and Arsenal fare today? Here is what to know, including kick-off time, TV channels and live stream options Arsenal can continue their strong start to the season with a victory at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Sunderland, however, are no pushovers at home, as they demonstrated in a 2-2 draw with the Gunners last season. Mikel Arteta’s defending champions are performing at the peak of their powers. Arsenal have won all five of their competitive fixtures this season and are setting the early pace at the top of the Premier League table.
What to watch for
Last season, Arsenal’s defensive strength won them the Premier League title. They kept 19 clean sheets in 38 games and earned a reputation for being the most effective side at grinding out results when it mattered. Indeed, three of Arsenal’s final five fixtures down the stretch last season finished 1-0.
This season, Arteta is doing more to evolve his team as an attacking force. Having Kai Havertz and Martin Ødegaard fully fit again has made a big difference while the summer addition of Bruno Guimarães has given the Gunners a different dimension in the center of the pitch. Christos Tzolis has settled in quickly too.
Sunderland also enjoyed a 2025/26 season to remember, qualifying for the Europa League as a promoted side. All four of the Black Cats’ games this season have produced three goals or fewer, meaning Saturday’s encounter could be a cagey one between two teams on an upward trajectory.
Player to watch: Martin Ødegaard, Arsenal – Five games into the season, Ødegaard has already registered four goals, more than he scored in all competitions for Arsenal last season. The Norwegian is back to his best and is influencing the Gunners’ attacking play.
