Major Carrick Upgrade: Man Utd Eye Ex-Newcastle Boss Eddie Howe
· GiveMeSport
Manchester United considers Eddie Howe as a strong replacement for Michael Carrick amid poor Premier League start.
The Red Devils are going through a tricky period this season, enjoying one of the worst starts they've had to a Premier League campaign in many, many years.
United's latest result against Tottenham Hotspur was a disappointing one, throwing away a 1-0 lead despite Spurs going down to 10 men.
Tottenham are still without their first win of the campaign and sit bottom of the Premier League table, but that didn't stop them from pulling off a big victory away at Old Trafford.
The pressure is undoubtedly mounting on Carrick, not only due to the result against Tottenham but also their performances so far this season.
The Red Devils have won just one game in the Premier League, and that came against newly promoted Ipswich Town.
The pressure is surely mounting on Carrick, and although there don't appear to be any immediate signs of them looking to sack him, he certainly needs to turn things around.
According to a report from Football Insider, Eddie Howe is someone who is admired by Manchester United and is on their radar.
It's also claimed that the former Newcastle man would be keen on making the move to Old Trafford, even though he is supposed to be taking a break from football.
Whether that break would come to an abrupt end if a club like United makes a move remains to be seen. Still, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise if he were looking to take the role on if it became available.
Howe will likely be looking to take his career to the next level with his next job. Moving to the Red Devils would certainly be a step up from Newcastle in terms of stature.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick could be under pressure after a disappointing start to the season.
There's no doubt that Howe would be a huge upgrade on the current Manchester United manager, Carrick. The English manager has done a phenomenal job at both Bournemouth and Newcastle, overachieving in both roles at times.
The job Howe did to take Bournemouth from the lower leagues up to the Premier League and establish them as a top-flight club was phenomenal.
He then moved to Newcastle and turned them from a relegation-battling side into one regularly competing in the Champions League, while also delivering a long-awaited trophy to St James's Park.
His CV is far and away better than Carrick's, and he would certainly be an upgrade if they can bring him in in the future.
