Man City Break Premier League Rule After 3-0 Win vs Liverpool

Manchester City prevented Enzo Maresca from taking a radio interview after their 3-0 win against Liverpool.
Manchester City breached another one of the Premier League 's rules after beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday (October 11th).
Enzo Maresca's men didn't let the uncertainty of the club's future distract them from delivering a sixth victory to maintain their perfect start to the campaign. Erling Haaland (65'), Jeremy Doku (68') and Rayan Cherki (78') were on target as City moved three points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table.
The game wasn't without controversy though, as Ryan Gravenberch was harshly sent off for two bookable offences before the three goals arrived. The big elephant in the room surrounded the 115 charges that the club have been found guilty of and they could be in even more trouble given what transpired after the final whistle.
An independent commission found City guilty on all charges relating to financial rule breaks and are adjuged to have artificially inflated their revenue by £900 million over a nine-season period. The club have appealed the decision and insist they have "irrefutable evidence" that shows their innoncence.
Maresca took questions about the situation during his pre-match press conference and he spoke about trusting the club. But after overseeing a victory away at Anfield, the Italian coach didn't speak to a radio broadcaster.
According to talkSPORT , their chief football correspondent Alex Crook looked to interview Maresca but the club refused to allow radio stations to speak to the manager. Crook had spoken to Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola but wasn't given the opportunity to speak to his managerial counterpart.
Maresca spoke to other members of the media in a post-match press conference aswell as giving Sky Sports an interview. His club didn't offer an explanation as to why he wasn't allowed to talkSPORT and preventing him from doing so has landed them another rule break.
Rule K.207 in the Premier League handbook for the 2026/27 season states that: "Each Club participating in a League Match must ensure that each Radio Broadcaster that has the right to the Radio Transmission of that League Match is permitted to interview (a) at least one Player who featured prominently in the League Match and (b) the Manager, following the League Match."
There's no word on a potential punishment should the Premier League take action against City for preventing Maresca from taking radio interviews. But in one-off breaches, the likelihood is that the board will issue a direct administrative fine.
This isn't the first time managers have snubbed radio broadcasters after a game and Sir Alex Ferguson picked up many fines during his Manchester United reign. But the circumstances surrounding City's ongoing case is why in this scenario there is much more interest and obvious questioning of the club's actions.
