The league uploaded ‘goals that sent the stadium into a frenzy’ on YouTube, covering 22 different memorable bits of drama and spanning 13 clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Michael Owen’s dramatic derby winner in 2009 was included, with Declan Rice’s first in an Arsenal shirt and teenager Rio Ngumoha netting a Liverpool winner at St James’ Park last season.
Vincent Kompany’s show-stopping long-range effort against Leicester City in 2019 was overlooked as well as the drama of Sergio Aguero’s 93rd-minute strike on the final day in 2012, arguably the most iconic moment in the competition’s history.
In a separate video, teary goodbyes from Steven Gerrard, John Terry, Mikel Arteta, Mohamed Salah, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer were combined, with the caption: ‘We’re not crying, you are.’
City supporters point to Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and John Stones having all left in emotional circumstances across the past two seasons. The Premier League declined to comment.
