Premier League injury news: Club by Club updates and potential return dates

Liverpool and Manchester United are involved in major fixtures this weekend as Premier League clubs count the injury cost of the international break, which has impacted league leaders Arsenal

Few teams escape the international break without some kind of fitness issue, which can often lead to a sense of frustration as the Premier League prepares to resume this weekend.

And it's been no different this time around, particularly after the game's bosses decided on an international break which has crammed four fixtures in three weeks.

Alex Scott's injury whilst away with England has again ignited the club vs country row as teams lay the blame for their player's welfare with the national sides.

We've seen a spate of players withdrawing from international duty, Arsenal infamously doing so previously, as clubs look to protect their players. Cole Palmer's decision to miss this set of England games served as a major frustration to Thomas Tuchel.

We're about as far from the business end of the season as you can get, which can make stomaching injuries that bit easier, but equally no manager wants to be without his best players for any period of time.

We've got some huge clashes this weekend, some having major subplots. Manchester United face Tottenham as two underfire managers square off whilst Manchester City play for the first time since their guilty verdict, against Liverpool of all teams. We cast our eye over all 20 clubs to see how their squad is looking.

Arsenal

William Saliba's injury is well documented and has kept him out thus far, but Ezri Konsa, who can act as a replacement, withdrew from England duty with a muscle issue, casting doubt over his availability. Ben White and Cristhian Mosquera were unlucky to miss out on the Brighton loss, and should be available. Kai Havertz and Christos Tzolis both picked up injuries on international duty, but their diagnosis will see them miss weeks, not months.

Aston Villa

Unai Emery knows that Amadou Onana's ACL injury will keep him out long-term, new signing Leon Goretzka confirmed he would be out until after the international break. Ian Maatsen is out with Emery claiming he could be sidelined for "a long, long time." Pau Torres and Marco Bizot are both doubts.

Bournemouth

The Cherries are unhappy with the way they believe England handled Scott - which means he could be out for up to eight weeks. A thigh injury will keep him out, he felt the issue prior to the win over Croatia, but played 70 minutes in midfield before being substituted. Eli Junior Kroupi is set to be back by November at the latest. He's been recovering from surgery on a foot injury sustained during a pre-season training and is targeting a return before the international break next month. Julian Araujo, Justin Kluivert and Veljko Milosavljevic will all miss out this weekend.

Brentford

Mikkel Damsgaard is out having picked up an ankle injury whilst on international duty. Kaye Furo will also be missing after undergoing an operation. Mathias Jensen is a doubt but could yet feature this weekend whilst Josh DaSilva has returned to full fitness.

Brighton

Summer signing Femi Azeez could finally make his Seagulls debut this weekend. He arrived carrying an injury and is yet to play, but the international break has afforded him the time to regain his fitness. Brighton hope to have Jack Hinshelwood available. The likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Stefanos Tzimas and Evan Ferguson are longer term injuries whilst Yankuba Minteh is touch and go.

Chelsea

Cole Palmer controversially pulled out of England duty to work on a foot injury, but is in contention to play on Saturday. Joao Pedro, who missed the loss at Brentford, is expected back this month even if he misses out this weekend. Moises Caicedo has played just 14 minutes this season but could run out this weekend, as could Reece James.

Coventry

Frank Lampard is hoping to have Haji Wright back by the end of this month, with this weekend potentially coming too soon. However Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Luke Woolfenden are both in contention to play. Aurele Amenda's calf injury is significant.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles could welcome back a trio of injured players following the international break. Dean Henderson, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Takehiro Tomiyasu all look to have dealt with their respective issues and could play this weekend.

Everton

The treatment room is a relatively quiet place on the blue half of Merseyside as David Moyes' hopes to have summer arrival Christian Norgaard back after a period out. Merlin Rohl was another targeting this weekend, but it remains to be seen whether he'll be deemed fit enough to play.

Fulham

The west Londoners are set to have Kenny Tete back after he was dealing with concussion. Tom Cairney underwent surgery on his knee back in August and had always been targeting this set of fixtures as a return date, but its more likely he'll be in contention from next weekend.

Hull

The newly promoted side have endured a fast start but have a notable injury list. Eliot Matazo's ACL injury will keep him out until the New Year whilst Jack Butland is another more long-term injury. Darko Gyabi is eyeing a November return. The impressive Nobel Mendy as well as Matt Targett, Elliot Stroud and Hidemasa Morita could all play this weekend.

Ipswich

The Tractor Boys only absentee in September was Jack Taylor but the midfielder is now back and pushing for game time on Saturday.

Leeds

Harry Wilson's time out with a quad injury could end this weekend as the Welshman looks to click into gear after his summer move. A hamstring injury has sidelined Joe Rodon for almost two months and this weekend could come too soon whilst we won't see Mateo Joseph until the New Year.

Liverpool

Hugo Ekitike and Conor Bradley won't be seen before this month is out as Giovanni Leoni continues his long road back, but could play in 2026 having barely featured since signing for the Reds. Federico Chiesa and Alexander Isak could play against Manchester City on Sunday whilst Cody Gakpo withdrew from international duty recently with no diagnosis yet communicated.

Man City

Nico O'Reilly withdrew from the England squad for their final two Nations League matches of the international break because of injury with the severity yet to be determined, but is the only major issue for Enzo Maresca.

Man Utd

Marcus Rashford, Amad and Benjamin Sesko have all been nursing knocks but could be in contention this weekend. Matthijs de Ligt has been a more long-term absentee but the defender is edging closer to his return. Patrick Dorgu had to leave Denmark camp during the international break and this Saturday could come too soon. Manuel Ugarte continues his recovery from a long-term injury.

Newcastle

Whilst the Magpies are keeping tabs on the fitness of a host of their first-team stars, very few are long-term concerns and several of them could play this weekend. Nico Gonzalez, Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga and Matias Fernandez-Pardo are all in contention. Tino Livramento withdrew from England duty recently and there's no word on him as of yet.

Nottingham Forest

Nikola Milenkovic and Nicolo Savona had been the only two injury concerns at the City Ground but both men are in the mix to play this weekend.

Sunderland

Romaine Mundle has been sidelined since the start of the season and is eyeing a return come late December into early January. Brian Brobbey played for the Netherlands recently but was forced off with an injury. Habib Diarra is close to a return whilst Daniel Ballard is nursing a thigh issue.

Tottenham

ACL injuries will keep Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons sidelined - the latter out until 2027 comes around. Micky van de Ven is set to return this weekend with Pedro Porro and Mykhailo Mudryk remain sidelined. Dejan Kulusevski has been a notable absentee but his issue is not major and a first outing of the season is nearing.
