Madueke Upgrade: Arsenal Ready Move to Sign Antonio Nusa

· GiveMeSport

Arsenal are readying a move to sign an exciting new forward in January, and he's better than Noni Madueke.

Arsenal have had a near-perfect start to their season so far, despite their summer transfer window not going quite to plan.

The Gunners lifted the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years and reached the Champions League final for the first time in 20 years last season, before Mikel Arteta added all of Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes, and Ezri Konsa to his squad for the new season.

The north London side won their first six games in all competitions before falling to a 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break, which sees them sitting three points behind Man City in the table ahead of their clash with Leeds United this weekend.

But Arteta failed in his bid to bring in a new star forward to help take the team to the next level, and it's showing in his team selections so far.

Bukayo Saka and Christos Tzolis have started the Premier League games on the wing with Kai Havertz as the number nine, while Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and Viktor Gyokeres are yet to start a game in the top flight this season.

Those decision from Arteta have seen the former Chelsea man linked with a move away from the club , with Atletico Madrid and Juventus both linked with a deal to sign Madueke in January as a result of his lack of regular game time.

Should he leave, Arsenal will need a replacement to come in, with the squad already short on numbers in attack, and it has now emerged that one player being targeted is RB Leipzig star Antonio Nusa.

According to CaughtOffside , the Gunners showed an interest in the Norway international during the summer but decided against making a move. However, they could now revisit that interest after developing into one of the most exciting talents in the Bundesliga, with Arteta a big fan of his one-against-one threat out wide.

Madueke has got talent and his attributes are still quite raw, but he has failed to make a major impact in the Premier League for Chelsea or Arsenal, despite winning the title last season.

After spending £52m on him, it's fair to say that the deal hasn't worked out how many would have hoped, and if he is going to be on the move in 2027, then Nusa would be a big upgrade on him.

He has the same direct threat that Madueke has, but his end product is arguably better, having registered two goals and two assists in four Bundesliga games so far this season, while he has also shone for Norway alongside Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland.

A deal is unlikely to be particularly cheap, but Arsenal would be signing a player who can make an immediate impact while also having the ceiling to become a real superstar in the future, and that would be invaluable.
