Speaking to the Bundesliga, HSV’s midfield maestro spoke about what makes the Red Shorts so special, plus the importance of Merlin Polzin’s contract extension, and more.

Bundesliga: You joined HSV on loan from Arsenal in September 2025 and have now made a permanent switch, what makes the club special to you?

> Vieira : “What I experienced here was amazing. All my family enjoyed it, too. It’s a really nice city and a really nice club. All the people around the city, and the fans are good people - they are always supporting us. It doesn’t matter if we win or lose, they’re always there for us. When you have a club and fans that love you, you feel much happier to join a club like this.”

Bundesliga: What convinced you that HSV was the right place for you?

> Vieira: “The Bundesliga is really nice, it’s very competitive and there’s a lot of space to keep growing and developing. It’s the right place for me as well because I want to keep playing football. I want to do what I love the most, which is playing football, and I feel very comfortable here. When people like you, it’s much easier.”
