There has been plenty of debate over the state of Germany’s national team and, more specifically, whether the country has enough young talent coming through to build another genuinely exciting generation.

This international break certainly gave us plenty of reasons to revisit that conversation.

Jürgen Klopp opened the door for several younger players, and a number of them took advantage of the opportunity. Tom Bischof showed why Bayern Munich was so determined to bring him to the club. Aleksandar Pavlović looked increasingly comfortable at the international level; Malick Thiaw continued to make a strong case for himself, while Philipp Treu provided another option at full-back.

Then there was Jonas Urbig making his Germany debut, Lennart Karl getting an opportunity, and Said El Mala continuing to generate excitement around his potential. Nick Woltemade also gave Germany another intriguing attacking option, while Florian Wirtz reminded everyone that the next generation already has a genuine world-class talent at its center.

That does not mean every young player who impressed during this break is guaranteed to become a Germany regular. International football can be a completely different challenge from club football, and development is rarely a straight line.

Still, it is difficult to look at this group and conclude that Germany lacks options.

Maybe the bigger question is whether Klopp can turn this collection of promising young players into a cohesive team capable of competing for major trophies.

So, did this international break change your opinion of Germany’s talent pool?
