Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappé narrowly avoided a very serious injury

Just after France's victory in Turkey (1-0) and the injury exit of Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid quickly confirmed the diagnosis for their 27-year-old striker. "Following the examinations carried out today by the Real Madrid medical service on our player Kylian Mbappé, hyperextension of the posterior capsule of the left knee was diagnosed. His condition will be closely monitored". Since then, Mbappé has returned to Madrid and the Blues were able to win the shock against Belgium (1-0) without him.

Mbappé is currently receiving treatment at Valdebebas and his return to competition is still hoped for when La Liga resumes on October 10 against Villarreal, even if José Mourinho will not force his return. The names of Carlos Espi and Jude Bellingham (in false 9) are mentioned to replace him just in case. But A.S. tells us that the French striker avoided the worst on the Yzmit pitch. The Madrid newspaper reveals that Mbappé will ultimately not have an operation and will continue classic conservative treatment. But if he had pushed in Türkiye, his injury could have been much more serious than expected. "Reviews indicate that if he had continued to play he would have been at high risk of sustaining a very serious injury. The kind of injury that can ruin an entire season" writes the daily.
