Juventus and Napoli are making preparations ahead of January, and both teams aim to shore up their midfields because of some injury blows. The Bianconeri won’t have Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli for months, while Frank Anguissa and Scott McTominay have had some problems for the Parthenopei .
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport , the Old Lady is particularly keen on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Luciano Spalletti wants a veteran leader. Former free agents Leon Goretzka and Frank Kessié have latched onto other clubs.
Olympique Marseille are in a financial crunch, so the Dane isn’t untouchable despite being the captain and a pillar. Their new CEO Giovanni Carnevali has done a lot of business with the French club, signing Ismael Koné, Ulisses Garcia, and Darryl Bakola during his time with Sassuolo.
Napoli are also in the hunt for a midfielder, but they plan to go younger than Juventus. They have shortlisted Monaco’s Mamadou Coulibaly. His physicality would come in handy. He has registered 4 goals and 7 assists in 47 matches with his current team.
The possible fallback is Union Saint-Gilloise’s Adem Zorgane, who will turn 27 in January. He’s a staple with Algeria and can handle multiple roles. The Azzurri are also keeping tabs on Dodo, who might depart Fiorentina for cheap to avoid a Bosman exit.
Our Take on Juventus and Napoli
They are both in trouble in the role, and the Azzurri appear headed for a significant overhaul at the end of the campaign. They’d better start bringing in quality reinforcements as soon as they can, and they are already one man short. Hojbjerg would be a fine addition, but the buzz linking him to Serie A has never amounted to much in the past.
