The multinational stars England may lose in eligibility fights include Man Utd pair, Spurs trio, Liverpool teen

· Football365

Two Manchester United players, a Spurs trio, a Liverpool teenager and Harry Kane’s successor are among the players England risk losing.

This is not an exhaustive list of every player who is eligible to represent England and at least one other country at international level. But it is a collection of the main ones and will be periodically updated as and when other relevant players become apparent.

Suggestions for other inclusions are encouraged.

Max Aarons (Bournemouth)

Josh Acheampong (Chelsea)

Tosin Adarabioyo (Spurs)

Tosin does seem to be leaning further towards Nigeria rather than the nation he played for at youth level, but ultimately wishes to “remain focused on my club goals”. He might not have envisaged himself sitting on Tottenham’s bench.

Chuba Akpom (Ipswich)

Akpom explained in 2019 that he had started the process of switching his allegiance to Nigeria, but the Super Eagles seem happy with their lot.

Josh Dasilva (Brentford)

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton)

Everton will hope he is good enough to catch the eye of England and render any interest moot. Thomas Tuchel has spoken about him with admiration.

Tyrique George (Everton)

Archie Gray (Spurs)

Ayden Heaven (Manchester United)

Shea Lacey (Manchester United)

Brian Madjo (Aston Villa)

Dwight McNeil (Crystal Palace)

Mikey Moore (Koln, on loan from Spurs)

Reiss Nelson (Feyenoord)

Ethan Nwaneri (Borussia Dortmund, on loan from Arsenal)

There are also links to France, but Nwaneri’s ongoing quest to find his feet at club level have postponed things on the international front.

Trey Nyoni (Liverpool)

Jacob Ramsey (Newcastle)

Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham)

Joe Willock (Newcastle)

Capped England players who meet the criteria to switch allegiance

Nathaniel Chalobah (West Brom)

Callum Hudson-Odoi (Nottingham Forest)

“Ghana is a very good option but let’s wait and see. Hopefully once I start playing games here, maybe Gareth or Ghana will come,” was another rather dated quote.

Mason Greenwood (Fenerbahce)

Jamaica are less bothered about the obvious issues. Steve McClaren wanted him in the mix but Greenwood “is taking his time over that, so it’s a little bit disappointing”.

There was once a claim in the Daily Mail that some in Marseille felt Greenwood ‘has become obsessed by an impossible dream’ and ‘still believes he can play for England again’.

Nope.

Rio Ngumoha (Liverpool)
