Jeremie Frimpong Wants to Leave Liverpool Amid Iraola 'Nightmare'

· GiveMeSport

One Liverpool star is ready to leave the club after a 'nightmare' time under Andoni Iraola so far.

Liverpool have had an unbeaten start to the season in all competitions so far, but the jury is still out on the squad and the new manager.

Andoni Iraola replaced Arne Slot in the summer after leaving Bournemouth, and saw big changes in the squad as Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, and Harvey Elliott were all moved on.

While Jeremy Jacquet was signed under Slot in January and has arrived, the Spaniard also brought in Victor Munoz, Ronald Araujo on loan, and Bradley Barcola to try and build the squad in his image.

Liverpool's results and performances have been mixed up to this point, even despite the fact that they haven't tasted defeat. The team claimed wins in the Premier League over Ipswich Town and Bournemouth, while they have been held to draws by Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham. They also defeated Tottenham in the EFL Cup, and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League .

Iraola is still looking to find the best starting lineup for his style from his options, but one position that he has seemingly settled on is in his defence. Milos Kerkez has cemented himself as the first-choice left-back, while Jacquet and Virgil Van Dijk have established a partnership in the middle.

But on the right, Iraola has made the decision to move away from Jeremie Frimpong's attacking style, instead preferring to go with Araujo's more physical profile and defensive stability. Frimpong has managed just 179 minutes of action in the Premier League this season, and he has continued his struggles from his debut season.

The Netherlands international made the move two summers ago as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, but struggled with injuries and form in his first campaign.

Now, it has emerged that the player is ready to pull the plug on his time at Anfield after failing to adapt to English football and falling down the pecking order under the new manager - with Barcelona keeping a close eye on his situation, according to Spanish journalist Juan Jesus.

When the 25-year-old arrived at Anfield in a £30 deal, the belief was that his style could help take the team to a new level going forward, which would have helped to replace Alexander-Arnold's incredible abilities.

But that simply hasn't happened. Iraola's team looks better without him; they don't miss him when he's not available due to injury, and the manager would likely prefer to have an alternative option available to him, with Brentford star Michael Kayode understood to be a priority target for 2027.

With Barcelona eyeing a move to bring him in, and Frimpong ready to make the switch to Spain, this could be the perfect chance for the Reds to cut their losses and move on quickly. Unfortunately, Frimpong has been an Anfield flop, and an exit in 2027 will all but confirm that.

If the club are able to secure their money back in any deal that sees him leave, that can be considered a win, and everyone can forget that this experiment ever happened. Anything less, and it's just a waste of money.
