Zlatan Ibrahimovic snubbed Man City & Arsenal when predicting who wins 26/27 Champions League
Legendary football maverick Zlatan Ibrahimovic has snubbed both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain when naming who he thinks will win the 2026/27 Champions League title.
The two sides met in last year's final, with Luis Enrique's side ultimately prevailing to make it back-to-back title wins for PSG, who had never won a European honour prior to this decade.
While it currently seems that nobody can stop Les Parisiens - with the Gunners their biggest challengers after continuing to improve after claiming their first Premier League title in 22 years - Zlatan has raised some eyebrows by suggesting another club, currently in a hiatus of their own, can come out of the shadows to summit Europe once again.
During a recent segment with ESPN, the retired striker - who is considered among the greatest of all time following stints at the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, and PSG - was asked a whole range of prediction questions.
He picked Lamine Yamal to win the Ballon d'Or over the likes of Harry Kane, Manchester City to continue their early-season form to win the Premier League, and Barcelona to win both La Liga and the Champions League. Watch the full segment below:
Should the Blaugranas claim Europe's most prestigious trophy again, it would be their sixth triumph. But despite their reputation among world football's finest clubs, they haven't claimed the honour since 2015 - a time when Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez were still in Catalonia.
While Zlatan wasn't offered a chance to explain his choice, many feel that the acquisition of 2024 Ballon d'Or winner Rodri will get the best out of the rest of the team. Meanwhile, Raphinha is in the form of his life at the top end of the pitch, already managing 15 goal involvements in just seven La Liga outings.
In a bombshell week for football, both Man City and Barcelona are under intense investigation, which might make Zlatan's predictions worthless should UEFA and the Premier League decide to banish the two clubs from the competitions.
While the Cityzens are expected to find out their punishment in early 2027 after breaching 115 financial regulations, Real Madrid released a series of explosive statements confirming that they'd sent more evidence to UEFA and La Liga in regards to the Negreira Case, which saw the club pay the refereeing body in exchange for favourable decisions.
Both clubs now face a whole range of possible sanctions, ranging from hefty fines and point deductions to expulsion from competitions. It's a weird world in football right now, but there's no doubt they remain favourites should they be able to avoid being dragged deeper into trouble.
