Bruno Fernandes' Private Cristiano Ronaldo Talk Amid Portugal Drama

· GiveMeSport

Man Utd ace Bruno Fernandes now reveals what he privately told Cristiano Ronaldo amid Portugal drama.

Star of the modern era, Cristiano Ronaldo has been creating more headlines this week as his international career could potentially be coming to an end after an alleged falling-out with Portugal national team coach Jorge Jesus.

Ronaldo, who is the leading goalscorer for his nation, was named in Jesus' 25-player squad for the international break, starting the opening game against Wales. However, the striker didn't feature in the following game against Norway and was missing from post-match celebrations with fans as they won the game 2-1.

While Jesus claimed that Ronaldo was told he wouldn't be starting the game, the media still reported that the Al-Nassr striker was unhappy with the manager, and his international career could be coming to an end.

Ronaldo had previously considered retiring from International football after the World Cup in the summer, but he chose to continue as he gets closer to his 1,000th career goal.

He caused a stir on social media after liking a comment by former Brazil player Felipe Melo, who claimed there was a big difference between the players' treatment of Ronaldo in the national team and the treatment Lionel Messi receives from his teammates on international duty.

And now, one of Ronaldo's teammates has spoken out and issued his verdict on the future of the former Real Madrid player's international career.

The truth has finally come out…

Following reports that Ronaldo could have potentially played his last game for his country, he said: > "In due course, I will tell Portuguese people the truth about the reasons behind my departure from the national team, to which I have always been dedicated. Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates, without exception."

The comments have caused concern and panic within the Portugal fanbase, who could've already witnessed their nation's best-ever player play his last game without even realising.

Manchester United and international teammate of Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, spoke to the press about his hopes for Ronaldo's future. As per the Sun, he revealed a private conversation in which he told the star striker: > “I spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo and told him that he is and will always remain the greatest icon of our national team and our country. Our national team is united, not divided. Matters must be resolved internally and conclude well for both parties.”

He also said (Per Record): > "I talked to Cris out of respect, for knowing what it means to us Portuguese, and because my hope is that he doesn't make hot decisions and wants to leave the national team for good, because if he wants to do it, it has to be on a day of celebration and not in a way like it was. That's how he deserves it. He is the greatest icon of our football and the country." > "If one day it has to happen that Ronaldo leaves the national team, it has to be on a party day and not on a day when the country is divided. Being in the selection must be a place for everyone and a place for everyone, and where there are no such divisions."

Following Ronaldo's decision to leave the national team camp, the Portuguese football federation and Jorge Jesus both acknowledged it wasn't something that could be ignored, with the Federation releasing a statement.

The statement read: > "Preparation for the two matches against Denmark and Norway continues as planned with the 24 remaining squad members. > > The entire delegation remains totally focused on the national team's next fixtures and on achieving the established objectives."

The federation and Jesus himself had reportedly rushed to the airport in Copenhagen in an attempt to persuade Ronaldo to stay with the team, but he departed on a private flight anyway.

After the incident in Denmark, Jesus said (per the BBC): > "There was no incident whatsoever. Any player, when you spend 20 or 30 minutes warming up and then don't get on, no one is happy about that. It's nothing to make a fuss about."

Whilst Jesus claims there is no problem, the rest of the footballing world is currently left in a confused state as they wait to see whether one of the game's greatest players will play on the international stage again.
