Liverpool Fans React to Florian Wirtz Comments After Germany 2-0 Serbia

Liverpool fans are not happy with Florian Wirtz's comments after Germany beat Serbia 2-0 in the Nations League.
Jurgen Klopp saw his Germany side held to a draw by the Netherlands and defeated by Greece in his first two games in charge, but had named two separate squads for the international camp, splitting them up for two games each. The new set of players claimed victory on Thursday night in Munich, as Tom Bischof and Wirtz scored either side of half-time.
Wirtz shone as the number ten in Klopp's system, turning in a man-of-the-match showing, and he spoke after the game about what was different from how he has been playing at Anfield for the last year-and-a-bit.
> “The players around me made things a lot easier for me today. There was so much movement around me and when I have that, it becomes much easier for me to shine again.”
Wirtz joined Liverpool in a £116m deal from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025 but managed just five goals and three assists in 33 appearances in the Premier League last season.
So far in this campaign, the 23-year-old has managed just one assist and no goals in his six appearances, which has seen him criticised by a number of fans and members of the media, including Jamie Carragher.
After the player's quotes emerged following the game, Liverpool fans took to social media to vent their disappointment, having stood by him publicly and backed him to come good at Anfield.
One fan said: "The scary part is he still doesn’t get it. In the Premier League, there’s no space and slow-pace games. We wait until he fixes that, but yet he blames other players’ movement, and he still doesn’t get it. Very scary to think."
Another fan commented: "So he's blaming his own poor form on his teammates? Sound," while someone also said, "The Premier League isn't a slow-paced international game against Serbia. Stop blaming others."
With a game against Man City to come next at Anfield, one fan said: "Can’t wait for him to lose the ball against City 115 times."
Another fan said: "He could not make a five-yard pass last week. That’s nothing to do with the players around him. He needs to improve, I hope this is where it starts for him!"
Fans will be hoping he can carry that form into the game against Man City , and they will now be closely watching his performance against Greece on Sunday night, where he will likely be handed a starring role with the national team once more.
