Man Utd Should Sell Mason Mount Before Diogo Dalot

Why Manchester United should prioritise selling Mason Mount over Dalot.

Many Manchester United fans have been suggesting that Diogo Dalot should be sold in 2027, but there's someone who should be higher up on their list.

As we've seen in the early weeks of the 2026-2027 season, the United squad isn't in the perfect position as it stands.

We could see the Red Devils strengthen in multiple areas in 2027 after only focusing on the midfield in the previous summer transfer window.

Manager Michael Carrick also appears to have little faith in some of his backup options, which means United could look to build a deeper squad, which could force some squad players to leave.

Dalot is a player who has come under plenty of criticism during his time at United, but he's still regularly picked by many different managers.

That speaks volumes, and there are players in the squad who should be ahead of him in terms of being on the transfer list.

One man is Mason Mount, who has simply had more than enough time to prove himself at Old Trafford.

Injuries haven't helped his situation, but that is a factor when deciding whether a player is making enough of an impact. The former Chelsea man has now been at United for over three years, and he's simply not hit the levels expected of him, considering the transfer fee.

Given he's still only 27 years old, United could still get a reasonable fee for Mount, so he should be someone who's high on their priority list to sell.

In the Premier League so far this season, Mount has played just 10 minutes of football, coming off the bench against Fulham.

Last season, Mount only played just over 1,000 minutes, making just 12 starts in the Premier League.

It would be Manchester United's best transfer deal for years

The English attacking midfielder is behind Bruno Fernandes in the pecking order. It certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see someone like Matheus Cunha or Bryan Mbeumo ahead of him as a backup option in the number 10.

Considering he joined the club in a big-money move from Chelsea, Mount is likely on a huge wage package too, and his injuries mean he simply doesn't contribute enough.

When he is on the pitch, Mount still struggles to hit the levels expected, and it's surely now time for them to look to cash in.

The 27-year-old isn't going to get any better at his age, and there's every chance that his injury situation only gets worse.

United are likely to look to continue strengthening their squad in the coming years, which could push Mount further down the pecking order.

United need to sell before his value drops completely, and 2027 could be the ideal time.
