Man City’s ‘Irrefutable Evidence’ in 115 Charges Case Revealed

Manchester City officials have repeatedly stated that they have 'irrefutable evidence' to prove the club's innocence.

Manchester City have maintained their innocence throughout the eight-year investigation into 115 financial breaches. The Citizens have now been found guilty, but still claim to have 'irrefutable evidence'.

The Premier League released a statement on Tuesday afternoon revealing that the club had been found guilty of all charges. However, City responded just moments later . It read:

> "The Club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this case.

> "The Club will therefore be relentless, and where necessary proactive, in any and all appropriate regulatory and legal forums."

The independent commission found that City were guilty of arranging 'sham' contracts and agreements to artificially inflate the club’s revenues and reduce its costs. It was stated that Man City artificially inflated the club's commercial revenue by £830 million between 2009 and 2018.

Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail has now revealed that City will argue that their sponsors are owned by the Abu Dhabi government, rather than the club's owners (Abu Dhabi United Group). The case they will make is that no rules were therefore broken, as government-funded sponsorships are legal in the Premier League.

It looks like Ferguson may have been proven right after all.

Their appeal will centre around the belief and alleged evidence that payments received by Etihad were actually made by the government. That money was then used to sponsor the club, which would be legal if City's version of events is found to be true.

However, the commission concluded that this argument was 'concocted well after the event in an attempt to obscure and conceal the realities of the disguised funding scheme'.

In a video intended for City staff members, CEO Ferran Soriano reaffirmed his belief that this 'irrefutable evidence' would see the club's innocence confirmed. The video was leaked online and showed him saying:

> "The whole Premier League case against us is based on a single false accusation - that the owner's personal money was somehow and secretly put into the club via some sponsors from Abu Dhabi.

> "This is just not true. Irrefutable evidence has been provided to the Premier League commission that shows it could not happen and that it did not happen. This includes bank statements, money transfers, witnesses, and everything necessary to categorically demonstrate the money did not come from the owner."

The Spaniard has spoken out.
