It is the second time a Hull City player has crashed on the same road in the space of three weeks

A Hull City player has been involved in a car crash outside the club's training ground - the second time there has been a car incident involving a Tigers player in the space of three weeks.

According to Humberside Police, the incident took place at 8.30am on Thursday, October 1, with the car belonging to new summer signing Lucas Gourna-Douath.

The 23-year-old walked away from the incident unscathed after his car flipped onto its side on Millhouse Woods Lane, close to the club's Cottingham training ground.

It is the second time in three weeks that a Hull player's car has been involved in an accident on the same road, with Sorba Thomas' car flipping onto the roof on September 11 .

In a statement given to Hull Live , Humberside Police said:

> "Officers and emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at around 8.30am this morning (Thursday, 1 October 2026). Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the collision.”

The road where the incident took place is a narrow stretch and warnings have been issued in the past as to the speed that cars travel along it.

Councillor Phil Redshaw even issued a statement last month, saying:

> "I wrote to the Hull City club secretary on Sunday asking them to remind players to be careful driving down the road because of the residents’ concerns. I wanted them to remind their staff to drive with extra care, because they get new players in every season.”

Hull have started their first season back in the Premier League since 2017 strongly, with two wins and two draws from their opening five matches. After the international break ends, they take on Everton at the MKM Stadium, with the Toffees enjoying a similar start to the campaign.

This is a developing story, we will update with more information as we get it.

Worrying images of the incident have emerged online.
