Best Signing Since Bruno: Ratcliffe Leading Man Utd Charge to Sign Kane

· GiveMeSport

It would be Manchester United's best transfer deal for years

Manchester United may have spent more than £150m during the summer transfer window after their return to the Champions League, but there is still a feeling that they are short of the required quality in many positions.

Man United chiefs chose to focus on the central midfield area during the close season, following the exit of Casemiro and the long-term injury suffered by Manuel Ugarte while representing Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup.

The Red Devils brought in three new players for the position in Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba, and with Kobbie Mainoo already there and continuing to thrive following Ruben Amorim's exit, it is an area that is now well stocked.

Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount are available for the No.10 role, while Michael Carrick has plenty of wide forward options at his disposal, when everyone is fit.

United are clearly short in other areas though, including in both full-back positions and potentially at centre-back too.

Question marks have been raised over the team defensively already this term, having conceded eight goals in five Premier League matches, and lots of suspect moments from the first-choice backline.

The club was looking to bring in competition for Luke Shaw at left-back during the summer, but key target Lewis Hall ended up staying at Newcastle United and signing a new contract, while Alejandro Balde also remained at current club, Barcelona.

United also don't have really strong competition for Diogo Dalot on the opposite flank, while the partnership of Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez has been called into question, with Matthijs de Ligt still injured and Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven not doing enough to break up their partnership.

There is also an issue in the centre-forward position too, with first-choice option Benjamin Sesko yet to make a Premier League start this term as he first battled his way back from injury, before suffering a fresh issue that has seen him ruled out of Slovenia's fixtures during the current extended international break.

According to TEAMtalk , Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is personally leading the charge to bring Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane back to the Premier League, but he looks set to be unsuccessful with his mission, for now at least.

The England captain's contract at the Allianz Arena runs out at the end of the season, but the Bundesliga giants are increasingly confident of agreeing new terms with the world-class centre-forward to keep him in Germany.

Man United fans aren't feeling the best right now given the performances they have been witnessing of late, but there is no doubt that Kane would be a transformational signing for the club.

He may be 33 years of age now, but he continues to show he is one of the best goalscorers on the planet, as shown by the fact he is a contender for the 2026 Ballon d'Or award.

Kane's record for Bayern is insane, and he remains on course to score 100 goals for England too, before he hangs up his boots, with the striker currently on 87 for the Three Lions.

Harry Kane's Record for Bayern Munich

- Appearances 154 - Starts 138 - Goals 152 - Assists 34

Current Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes has been United's best signing by a country mile in recent years, but Kane would be the first player to threaten that record, and probably surpass the Portuguese international given his stature in the English game.

The striker would arrive at Old Trafford guaranteeing goals and performances to be proud of, and he would be the talisman for a United team who are finally looking to get back to the elite.

It may not happen in the next 12 months, but if Ratcliffe is successful in bringing Kane to the club in the next two years, he would regain a lot of respect among the club's fanbase.
