Roy Keane Sends Brutal Message to Man City Stars After Guilty Verdict

· GiveMeSport

Keane wasn't afraid to say exactly what he thought and his comments are being widely shared.

The Premier League confirmed on Tuesday evening that Manchester City have been found guilty of all charges related to breaches of Premier League's financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.

In a statement, it was revealed that the Citizens arranged 'sham contracts' with a number of its commercial partners to disguise secret funding of around £900m.

City, who have continuously denied any wrongdoing, spoke out after the Premier League's statement, saying that they were 'disappointed and surprised' by the decision.

They have vowed to appeal the decision and have until Friday, October 2, in which to do so.

Several key figures in the footballing world have now spoken out and given their thoughts about how Man City should be punished.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane appeared on ITV on Tuesday, working as a pundit for the Nations League clash between Czechia and England at Fortuna Arena in Prague.

The Irishman did not hold back when asked to give his thoughts about Man City. Speaking ahead of the game, Keane said that it was a 'good day' that City have been found guilty but admitted that it was 'not good' for English football.

He didn't hold back after the match, which England won 2-0. He said: "They knew it would hurt a lot of people, but they still done it.

> “And if I was a player with the success of the last few years – I’d 100 per cent be sticking those medals in the bin."

When asked by presenter Mark Pougatch if players would feel let down by the club, he replied: “100 percent you would. It’s cheating.

> “You’re hearing nonsense from ex-players saying they won on the pitch. But it was cheating. There was cheating going on.

> “It’s tough for the players, the manager. You’ve got owners who are quite happy cheating. It’s very difficult going forward for these players to maintain the level of excellence."

Wayne Rooney said earlier this week that City's players shouldn't have their medals taken away from them. He said on his podcast, Stick To United:

> "I have heard Rio has come out saying about getting another Premier League medal ... I wouldn't really feel comfortable accepting another Premier League medal, if I'm being honest.

> "I don't think we deserve it, we didn't do enough that season to win the league. I think we were six or seven points clear with four or five games to go and we threw it away. The amount of time which has been between it, to accept a Premier League medal...

> "I've seen everything that has come out over the past few days and listening to people and I was putting myself in a Man City player's shoes. They are there, doing everything to win a Premier League title and in their minds, they have done it, they have won the Premier League title.

> "If that happened to me, if all of a sudden Manchester United had been doing the same and my Premier League medaI had been taken away from, I would be absolutely devastated.

> "It might happen, they might take them away, but I wouldn't want it because I don't think as a team we deserved it that year because obviously we didn't finish first. So when I see ex-teammates and other people saying 'I want a medal' ... I'm happy with the five I've won. I wouldn't want this one, just 15 years later you get a medal because City cheated.

> "Should they get it stripped for what the owners have done? Yeah maybe, but I wouldn't feel comfortable accepting it."
