Leeds Must Build Around Ethan Ampadu Amid Chelsea Interest

· GiveMeSport

Leeds United have to keep midfielder Ethan Ampadu despite Chelsea's interest, valuing his key role in the team.

Since coming into the side, Ampadu has been one of Leeds' most important players in the middle of the park.

The 26-year-old came to the club when they were in the Championship, helping them gain promotion back to the Premier League.

Ampadu is now in his prime years, and he was rewarded for his form earlier this year, signing a new contract with the club until 2030.

That hasn't stopped clubs from showing an interest in trying to prise him away from Elland Road, which is no surprise considering the performances he's produced for the club over the years.

It's something that Leeds are going to have to accept as they continue to progress. The bigger clubs are likely to continue to come knocking for their star players, and it's up to them to resist any offers.

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds midfielder Ampadu is attracting interest from his former club Chelsea ahead of 2027.

It's claimed that, understandably, Ampadu remains a key part of Daniel Farke's plans, and Leeds are not set to entertain any offers for the midfielder.

Ampadu has reportedly impressed a number of different clubs after his impressive displays during his time at Elland Road, but Leeds remain firm in their stance.

On Chelsea's interest and Leeds' stance, journalist Pete O'Rourke said:

> "It's probably wishful thinking from the Chelsea side of things that they could bring Ethan Ampadu back to the club. He's a key man at Leeds, so I don't think Leeds will be even thinking of letting Ampadu go at any stage in the near future. He's club captain, he's one of the first names on the team sheet for Daniel Farke and he's become a big fan's favourite at Elland Road as well."

Leeds have certainly made the right decision to try to do everything they can to keep him at the club, and Ampadu is clearly keen after signing a new contract.

Ampadu is a player that Leeds need to build their team around.

The Welsh international offers an incredible amount on the pitch in terms of what he can do with or without the ball, and that's before taking into account his leadership qualities.

Ampadu is absolutely crucial to how Leeds want to play, and to be so pivotal on and off the pitch at his age is admirable.

How long Leeds can keep hold of him for remains to be seen, but the new contract was certainly a boost. The Yorkshire club now need to continue progressing and matching Ampadu's ambitions, and building the team around him.
